Biography: Behind the light of day not all is what it first appears to be. This includes the way an outsider would see the Ricardus family. Outside the home, one might call them a united front, and for all intents and purposes in that location, outside the home, they did present that image. It was different behind the closed doors of the family home though, and every single member of the family knew it, from the oldest all the way down to the youngest.

Antioch was neither, not the oldest and not the youngest. Not in the family as a whole, and not even among his own siblings. He was biologically part of the line of the heir, but he was nowhere near being the heir. That honour was his oldest brothers', the one named in the Ricardus heir tradition. His birth order had its drawbacks but also had some benefits too.

Of such benefits, included the fact that since he wasn't either the oldest nor the youngest, he was never centred out for much. This afforded him a lot of time to just observe and watch his family, nearly unnoticed. He wasn't the one under scrutiny from father and grandfather, expected to uphold to nearly pristine and exact standards. Of course, he couldn't slack either, for then that definitely would cause all eyes to be on him. But it wasn't the same level of near perfection expected of him that was expected of his brother. Other benefits from his order in the hierarchy meant he had ones younger than him that he was able to manipulate into doing things for him.

This careful observation he did is what gave him the information he needed to manipulate the youngers of the family, but also to give him material for the purposes of blackmailing some of the older members too.

Outside of the family home, this quiet but observational skill served well and aided other places too. Hogwarts, his school, was one such place. He had attended already for several years but had kept to the background, not making his presence known. He still watched, watched for chances to exploit his classmates. It wasn't unheard of for him to bribe other students to do some of his work for him or blackmail an older year to teach him some spell from a more advanced class than he was in, although this was not public knowledge since certain threats were usually issued by him to make sure his targets, or victims if you prefer, kept his activities quiet from becoming common knowledge.

With the time having come that his number of years left at Hogwarts are dwindling, Antioch planned to use his remaining time to set up contacts and sources to push forward into the adult world upon graduation. He knew he would have at least a small head start, simply because of the family he belonged to and he planned to use that as a stepping stone, and only for the moment that was enough for him. But he had other plans, much bigger plans that he intended to start putting into play.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Slytherin

Personality: Antioch is very polite, having been raised on the rules of ettiquette from immediate childhood. He is also rather quiet, but don't let that fool you. Underneath that quiet shell is a very careful and calculating mind. He is always watching, waiting to observe something he can use to further his own position, as long as it's of a benefit to him and doesn't threaten damage to the family name.

Appearance: Fairly tall, with brown hair and blue eyes

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

Antioch had been in the library doing a bit of research for his classes. He did have a little bit of a tendency to, delegate, some of his work but he also knew that he needed the knowledge himself to succeed. Sometimes though, the assignments given only dragged on points that the professor had already made in class, and the boy didn't want to write lengthy essays about the same topic they had already spent a large portion of time on, when he could be learning something new instead. So it was those little things he convinced other students to complete for him, using the time to read new information.

On this occasion, Antioch had been assigned one such essay that he had gotten a classmate to do for him, and it was time for him to go pick it up. He left the library to head to the set location he had agreed on to meet the person. He was about halfway there, having just passed an intersection of hallway, when he heard someone call from behind him.

He knew he had to get to his location, but ignoring this person could have been to ignore another potential person he could use in the future to his benefit. So he stopped and turned.

“What do you think about serving frog legs at lunch? Some say it’s a delicacy, but others think it’s plain gross.”

Suddenly he was regretting having stopped, but he wasn't going to burn a potential future bridge, so to speak. As much as he didn't want to answer, his response had no sign of this regret, it was as formal and polite as anyone would expect.

“As far as I am aware mine, or any other opinion will have no impact on what gets served. Therefore there does not seem to be much justifiable cause to state such an opinion.”
