Hailee Elizabeth Carlisle was born bright and early on Monday October 13, 1924.  Her mother, Schima, would often murmur the poem "Mondays child is fair of face..." to Hailee, and it would seem the old adage held true.  Possessing the blue eyes and dark hair of the Carlisle clan, her bouncy curls and rosy disposition as a toddler could evoke a warm response from the most surly of relations.  Hailee was especially enamored with her grandfather, whom she was always sure to be on the best behavior for.  He was especially pleased by her profound aptitude for etiquette and grace, and would often slip sweets her way when she would sit quietly without so much as a fidget or peep through dinner or formal family gatherings.

The birth of any child is a time for celebration and happiness, and Hailee's birth was no exception.  However, it followed on the heels of the disappearance of young Hayden, the brother she would never know.  The loss of the young toddler just prior to Hailee's birth, coupled with the fact that she was the first female child, lead to an incredibly protected upbringing that would prove critical in the development of a slight, if not always successful, wild streak when she became a young adult.

She learned to speak quickly, something her father was fond of attributing to her precocious nature.  Hailee would later attribute this to the fact that, with four older brothers, she rarely had a captive audience long enough to express herself.  As a toddler and young child, she was captivated with her older brothers, who seemed to be almost God like in their stature and worldly knowledge.  She would sit quietly and soak up their stories of schooling and travel, often hearing more than she should.  Her brothers saw her as the baby, and paid little mind to the effect that their stories might have on the mind of a young lady.
Age five was one of the defining years of Hailee’s young life… she became a big sister.  For once SHE was the older sibling... the one who would have worldly knowledge and stories... the one for whom there would be a captive audience.  Hailee adored Samantha from the moment she came into the world, and embraced the role of oldest sister with a passion.  The two became fast friends, despite the age difference, and Hailee was more than happy to enthrall Samantha with wild stories of her (slightly exaggerated) bravery and rule bending.  (As much rule bending as could be done when under the constant and ever watchful eye of ones parents, of course).

At the age of ten, Hailee proudly came to dinner wearing her father’s tie and a gentleman’s hat, and declared that she would become a prominent businesswoman when she grew up, and that she intended to expand the family’s trade business to America.  (She thought America sounded quite dreamy with its lack of rules and propriety, and it was often one of her biggest pretends that she would move to New York).  Her mother, with gentle humor, quickly removed the items and clucked over her "silly little princess".  Her father, similarly amused, ruffled her dark hair and declared her "too pretty to work".

While the kind-hearted dismissal stung the young girls pride, she did her best to not take it to heart.  Thus began the fragmented nature that would shape Hailee’s teen years.  Should she prove herself the worthy and adoring daughter?  Never stepping outside the lines of decency and decorum?  Or should she prove herself the exception to the rules of their class and kind… boldly making a way for herself in a world that would see her as a pretty, spoiled rich girl whose place was hearth and home?

Hailee spent her first four years of schooling being tutored at home.  It was deemed appropriate as it enabled her schooling to be tailored to her strengths, focusing heavily on domestic magic and its complimentary subjects of conjuring and charms, however her education in divination was deemed frivolous, and as such, it is her weakest subject.  Hailee also suspected that she was tutored at home so that her parents could keep a watchful eye on her… and the thought of this often brought a surge of bitterness that would surprise her, so she did her best to not think of it at all.  However, after much pleading, begging, excellent grades, shining at music and domestics, she convinced her parents to allow her to attend what she called “a real educational institute”.  Owing to the fact that she was nearing her 15th birthday, it was reasoned that she needed to have some worldly knowledge, and the exposure to other wizarding families would prove favorable.

And so it is that Hailee Elizabeth Carlisle will be attending Hogwarts in the Fall of 1938.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

It is worth noting that Hailee is conflicted.  On the one hand, she wants to make her parents proud and be their “perfect” daughter.   But on the other hand… she is tempted by rule breaking and experiencing life outside of the constant protection of her upbringing.  She is quick to claim that she will go through with a challenge, but part of her will always be nervous and fear disappointing her father.

She is incredibly societal and enjoys the elite social life that she has become accustomed to.  She adores planning parties, attending galas and dances, and absolutely loves dressing up.  Like any 14/15 year old girl, she is not above gossip (good naturedly) and enjoys matchmaking her friends.

Hailee can, and I’m sure will, come across as a snob at times to certain people.  This is due to her upbringing and often being caught off guard by the manners that others will display.  Etiquette has been ground into her very nature, so she will often be politely surprised by poor behavior, especially from other young women.  If called on it, she will be unfailingly apologetic.

House Request:  Suprise me!

Personality:  Hailee is in many ways a typical teenage girl.  One born to wealth and privilege, yes, but even so, typical in many ways.  She feels an immense amount of pressure to be a proper lady, and has always pushed herself to excel in the areas deemed appropriate by her upbringing.  Her public facade is pristine and she is the sort of child that family friends and associates nod approvingly to while discussing her prospects for a beneficial marriage one day.  She is very bright, and while perhaps not the head of the classmates, she is certainly amongst the top tier of performing students, and her sharp mind would have made for a very astute businessman... had she been a boy.

Underneath the surface, however, emotions compete.  The desire to make a name for herself conflicts with the constant affirmation that she should behave as a proper young lady... content to complete her schooling and settle down with a husband that will take care of her.  A husband that, ideally, would prove beneficial to the Carlisle name and business endeavors.

Protected, almost to a fault, by her parents, Hailee, though born to privilege, is not the spoiled rotten little girl that one would expect of her situation.  She has a kind heart and a gentle disposition, but she is naive.  Her recent rebellious streak is fed from a desire to be more than what is expected of her.. to stand on her own as her brothers are allowed to stand.  Living in the constant shadow of the four heirs to the family name and businesses, Hailee grew up feeling the sharp contrast of what is expected of a male vs.  female in her world.  She knows she is loved and adored by both her mother and her father, but there are days she yearns to be seen as more than a daughter... to be seen as a young woman who has her own value to add to the family.

She is baby-ed by her older brothers, who range from 6 to 10 years her senior.  To Hailee, it feels as if they've never stopped seeing her as the bundle of pink and lace that her parents doted over.

Hailee adores her younger sister Samantha, 5 years her junior, with whom she shares a special bond as the two "little girls" amongst many brothers.

Appearance:
Hailee favors her father in looks.  She is 5'3" and posesses delicate features.  Her dark hair is long and wavy.  Her eyes are deep blue.  She is always perfectly dressed and is careful to always maintain a pleasant appearance when under the scrutiny of others.

Hailee was still becoming acquainted with the castle.  While she found the shifting staircases and oft changed paintings charming… she had to admit that it made determining landmarks to be a particularly dodgy business.  She felt at such a disadvantage to the other students in her year.  They had four years of experience with this place… and seemed to navigate it with ease.  And here Hailee was, stumbling to find her way to the gardens.  All she wanted was a quiet break outside before classes resumed for the afternoon.
Usually found amongst her friends in the Great Hall, Hailee had stayed after her last class to inquire further into the homework assignment from the prior day.  As such, she missed the opportunity to follow her usual giggling group of girls to the Great Hall.  She was fairly certain she’d never make it there on her own, but had felt brave enough to set out for the nearby gardens.  She was sure she was close, but at this point… who knew?
With a little huff, she brushed her dark hair from her eyes and peered down the corridor, trying to make some sense of her location.

”Hey!”

Hailee turned in the direct of the friendly voice and was welcomed to the sight of a girl making a quick, if somewhat clumsy, run in her general direction.

” “Wait up! It’s for the paper!”

Inwardly, Hailee mentally primped.  After all, she’d been featured in society pages since the time she could talk, so being approached by a reporter was nothing new for her.  She observed the girl as she came closer and offered a warm smile.  She did not note a camera, which she thought was a real shame.  She’d worn a silk ribbon in her hair, to match her house colors, and, in her own mind, she was camera ready and able to represent her house in a very attractive fashion.  No matter.  Her answers to the girls question would be brilliant and thought provoking.  They would display that, as a representative of her house and the Carlisle family, she was capable of deep thought as well as demonstrating the manners and politesse that were of utmost importance in todays society.  They would…

“What do you think about serving frog legs at lunch? Some say it’s a delicacy, but others think it’s plain gross.”

… be about lunch???
Hailee blinked a few times, caught off guard by the question.  Frog legs?  Well, there was nothing wrong with them, really.  Hailee chose not to eat them because she found it difficult to eat them neatly.  They tended to slide around ones plate, leaving you to chase it about with a fork and knife, and if she wanted to chase frog legs… well… she’d transfigure herself into a cat and likely have better luck of it.
In the back of her mind, she noted the young ladies use of casual slang and couldn’t help but wonder what her mother would say if she ever used the word “gross” to describe food.  She stifled a giggle at the imagined look on her dear mothers face and quickly composed herself.  After all, the young woman was awaiting a response… and one must answer the press carefully, being sure to weigh their words and ensure they say nothing that could return unfavorably to them.
With a smile, Hailee took the always popular “middle ground”.  “I think that it’s wonderful that the food offerings here strive to be as diverse as the student body.  Regardless of personal tastes, one can certainly appreciate that there are many that might seek comfort in a dish that is familiar to them when far from home”.
