Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Rosalind Boerema

Birthday: 1/09/1931 (Age 12)

Hometown: London, England

Bloodline:
Muggleborn

Magical Strength:
Divination

Magical Weakness:
Conjuring & Summoning

Year: 1/2

Biography:
Rosalind can't remember her parents. She remembers vague faces and places, sure. A far away lullaby sung by a mother with wild hair, and a deep chuckle from a man with a scruffy beard. A golden dog, and a happy, noisy house where everyone sang- even her. At the age of 6, however, everything seemed to slide away. Suddenly, she was alone on a busy street, and her parents were gone. It took a week of wandering around the alleys, weeping for her mother and father, before she was taken to an orphanage.

As a terrified young orphan, she shied away from all the other kids. She spent her days curled up in a small, uncomfortable bed, clutching whatever stuffed animal she could get her hands on. She only began to come out of her shell around age 10, where she helped a few of the really younger kids while they cried. She knew the feeling of being left alone, and didn't want to see anyone suffer like her. She isn't exactly ready to completely emerge from her shell yet, but she may be willing to take baby steps now that she's growing older.

House Request: Hufflepuff

Personality: Rosalind is a bit of a quiet little thing. Normally, she only speaks unless spoken to, and won't involve herself in activities with large groups of people. She tends to wander off in her own little imaginary world. When spoken to, however, she's very kind. But every nice person has their limits, and even Rosalind can be pushed to the brink. She doesn't go out of her way to help people, but she won't say no to a request for help.

In her free time, she's taken up a hobby of sewing. She collected leftover fabric around the orphanage and sewed the remains into someting new. A personal favorite of hers to make is a teddy bear stuffed with old rags. Although her appearance seems to be a bit sunny, she prefers it most when the weather is cold and rainy- which isn't uncommon in London. She could spend hours curled up on the window sill in front of an open window while a rainstorm pours outside.

Appearance: Rosalind is a small, pale girl. Her curly blonde hair reaches just past her shoulders. On her round face sits a flat nose and a set of hazel eyes. She doesn't look like much, mostly because she really isn't. There isn't a wild side to be found in this child. In fact, she seems to be drowning in her oversized clothing.

The chaos from the Quidditch match was beginning to die down. Rosalind, after finishing a quick meal, silently excused herself to finish some homework. Quidditch wasn't particularly her thing- too wild, too noisy. She hadn't even watched the game herself. She only watched the commotion as everyone ran either cheering or crying from the field.

As her scuffed shoes clicked down the quiet hallway, a sniffling sound made its way to her ears. Peering around the corner, she found a shivering lump- no, not a lump. A boy. A crying boy. She slowed down her steps as she entered the hall, but the boy noticed her right away and whipped his head around.

"WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

At his loud tone, Rosalind yelped. She couldn't handle yelling. She felt the urge to yell right back, which wasn't something she felt often. But this boy seemed to be older than her, so she bit her tongue. "Um. Well.."

She grasped her hands together to avoid the oncoming freak out. "I don't know what happened, but um. Um." She nodded furiously, her curls bouncing. "I'm sure you did just fine."

She knew the boy had, in fact, not done just fine. But Rosalind wasn't one to point out people's shortcomings. She nodded again and let her hands drop to her sides. "Yeah. Just fine."
