Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Francis Charles Jacques Alicio Maurice Beauchene

Birthday: January 9th, 1942

Hometown: Paris, France

Bloodline:  Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): Fourth and Fifth

Biography:
If you are applying to be a first, second, or third year, your biography must be at least one hundred words long.
If you are applying to be a fourth year or above, your biography must be at least three hundred words long.
Francis Beauchene was born in Paris, France, near the end of the German occupation. His mother, Charlotte,  and his father Henrie had risen to prominence long before the war as the darlings of French social society. However, during the occupation they had acceded to the formation of magical France’s occupation government, which had continued to recognize the muggle government of Marshal Petan as their legitimate peer. Following the collapse of the occupation government, Henrie and Charlotte were briefly at risk of being brought up on charges of treason; however, the good will they had accumulated prior to the war saved them from this fate. Nonetheless, this facet of Francis's family history would go on to plague him later in life.

As the scion of a wealthy family, Francis grew up in the height of luxury; the Beauchene family, at this time, reportedly owned a penthouse in Paris which had been made warded with muggle repelling charms. Thus, the Beauchene penthouse continued to be the scene of numerous society events throughout his youth. He was able to meet many of his future classmates at such functions, and formed a bond with them. In the future, this would be both a curse and a blessing.

Upon the age of eleven, he joined Beauxbatons Academy. He was not a terrible student, but never got an O during his tenure there. Instead he cultivated his social connections, and slowly climbed the social ladder of the school. He was aided in this by his familial reputation. Nonetheless, as a result of that reputation, many of his social circle turned out to be the sons and daughters of those who had aided the occupation government. He didn’t not know this consciously; it was merely the natural attraction of those who held similar views.

Things came to a head when, in his third year, one of his friends was accused of hexing a young woman. Though he had not been involved,.he and his entire group were suspected of being in league with the plot. Though he avoided any charges of conspiracy, the Board of Governors of Bauxbatons still approved a decree of expulsion due to his close relationship with those involved. Now, with no chance of returning to the French academy to live with his great aunt Adelaide.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character. Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not Evangeline's or Hugh's.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Reply:
Francis sighed; it was awfully dark in this place. That would have to be corrected; there was no way the young man would find his rat like this. It simply wasn’t tenable. With a waive of his wand, he cast a lumos spell. Instantly, his sight improved as the room was bathed in luminescence. Now he could see the frightened boy clearly.

"It’s okay” he said referring to the boys predicament “It happens to everyone”

With a smile, he looked at Hugh with a nod of comradery.  Slowly he walked around.

“Are you okay?” He asked

Hi Francis!

Your application is coming along nicely! However, there is one issue with your roleplaying sample that will need to be rectified before it can be accepted.

Quote
With a waive of his wand, he cast a lumos spell. Instantly, his sight improved as the room was bathed in luminescence.

This passage sets Francis inside a dark room. However, the prompt you chose to reply to occurs outside in the gardens in broad daylight. If you could edit your rp sample and repost your entire revised application below, we'll be happy to give it another look!

Thank you for making those changes! Unfortunately, now a new issue has arisen with your rp sample. In it, you have Francis summon Hugh's rat. While we know this isn't a character controller by a real player, we would still like you to treat it as such. In a normal rp, taking control of another player's pet or successfully casting spells on it is considered powerplaying.

If you could edit your post to frame this instead as Francis attempting to summon Hugh's rat, leaving it up to the player to decide whether it was successful or not, the issue would be solved. Alternatively, due to the sometimes unpredictable nature of magic, you could have Francis summon an entirely different rat that doesn't belong to a played character.

Once you've made that change, please repost your entire revised application below and we'll be happy to give it another look!
