Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Okelane was born in an all muggle family. She was born to a family of 5 children and to which she was the youngest. Her father was a craftsmen and her mother, a stay at home mom. Her father built their house just the way her mother wanted it and dreamed it to be. Okelane is stunning just like her mother. She has long curly auburn hair, and is fairly tall with long legs. She was always complimented on her beautiful eyes, one blue and one green that shone in the dark. She has always thought of herself to be the odd one out. Neither her mother or father had anyone with blue or green eyes in the family. She never realized why she was so different from her parents and siblings until she got a letter from Hogwarts. Oke has always had strange things happen to her that she could not explain. When she first got the letter she was confused, and her parents alike, until they found out that one of her cousins have gotten a letter also. Even though her parents had their doubts at first, they supported her as much as possible. They wrote to her and their niece every week and greeted them with open arms on holidays. Oke grew up with her cousin all throughout Hogwarts and stuck with each other the whole time. They were through a lot but kept each other going. Okelane went from muggle born and different to fitting into this new world like she lived there the whole time. She made plenty of friends while at Hogwarts and decided to move closer. Once she went through her schooling she met a wizard and started a family in London. Their child will be another addition to Hogwarts (they are hoping) once old enough to enroll.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
"It's fine." Okelane replied "I was just admiring the decorations all up the street. Would you like some help?
"Sure, I need as much help as I could get about now." Joshua said as he clambered to his feet.
Okelane started picking up the tinsel up off the ground and putting it back into the box. "What do you need all of this tinsel for? Everything here looks decorated to perfection." asked Okelane
"They are for St. Mungo's." Joshua said dryly. Joshua picked up the rest of the tinsel off the ground and put it back in the box. "If you don't mind I need to go now." he said and started to turn around.
"Wait! I never caught your name!" Okelane said before he could walk away.
"My name is Joshua." he replied.
"Nice to meet you Joshua, I'm Okelane, I hope to see you again!" she said as she starred in awe a beautifully lit store front with candles sitting in the window.

Hi Okelane, welcome to HS.net!

Before we can accept your application, there are a few things that we'd like you to revise. If you have questions, a staff member would be happy to help, so please contact one of us (staff list is here).

- First, your biography is a great framework, but I'm curious to know a little more about Oke after Hogwarts, especially since she has been out of school for awhile. Who is her husband? How does she feel about being a mother? What are some challenges that Oke has faced since leaving Hogwarts, if any? How has she grown as a person? Please add some more information to your biography.

- Second, we'd like you to take a look at your roleplay sample.  In it, you have the example character Joshua answer and control his actions.  Controlling the speech, thoughts, and actions of another character is known as powerplaying and is not allowed on the site.  Please rewrite your roleplaying sample, but if you have questions, feel free to ask a staff member!

Please copy and paste your revised application below in a new post. Thanks and looking forward to your revised application!

- Cedric

Okelane went from muggle born and different to fitting into this new world like she lived there the whole time. She made plenty of friends while at Hogwarts and decided to move closer.

Once she went through her schooling she married a wizard she met at school, named Alexander Ferningham, that she was good friends with and started a family in London. When they first got out of school they had some trouble getting started. They both had to get a job to start off their life. When they finally got the money Oke's husband built her the house she always wanted just like her father did for her mother.

At the age of 22 Okelane got pregnant with their daughter Leona Ferningham. Once Leona was born Oke became a stay at home mother. She loves her to death and wants the best for her. It made things tough but they got through it. Their daughter will be another addition to Hogwarts (they are hoping) once old enough to enroll. Okelane has Lent  a lot in the past years since leaving school but the most important thing is one big life lesson so far and that is that if you believe, it is possible.

Roleplay Response:
"It's fine" Okelane said as she kept looking at all of the decorations. Christmas has always been her favorite holiday and nothing could spoil her mood. She didn't care much, nothing really bothered her since she always use to be the odd one out when she was little.

She looks at the poor man on the ground and decides to help him pick up the mess that has erupted upon running into him. She finishes picking up all the tinsel and then starts picking it out of her hair and clothes. She looks back at the man handing him the box and smiles "I hope you have a Merry Christmas, and hope to see you again sometime. You seem like a nice guy."

She turns back around and starts to slowly walk away finding a store front that she was completely engrossed in before the run it. No matter what goes on Oke always has the cheeriest mood around the holidays, because holidays mean family and family means being with the ones you love that made you who you are.

Hello Okelane!

Your edits are coming along wonderfully!

I wanted to make sure that you were familiar with The Time Warp, since Okelane was from a muggle family. It doesn't drastically affect anything that you have written in your biography, but it will come up when Oke thinks back on her family or when she reminisces with her cousin. For Oke, it happened roughly six years ago, about two or three years after she had her daughter. This of course means that there will be no phone calls or letters from the grandparents, or advice from mom and dad.

I enjoyed your Roleplay response because Oke seems so pleasant, but I wanted to remind you that we write in a third person, past tense form here at the site when role-playing with each other. You are following the third person portion splendidly, but quite often hang onto more of a present-tense form.

A straight up conversion should look like:

She looked at the poor man on the ground and decided to help him pick up the mess that had erupted upon running into him.

Also, we tend to enjoy exchanges between our characters that last a bit longer than one or two replies. There are a couple reasons - one is that it allows us to explore the personalities of our characters better. Two, we require at least three posts, of moderate length, from each character in a thread before we count that thread as 'complete'. This requirement only counts toward a character's 'advancement' in magical levels, but it is important to keep in mind.

So, you will likely want to keep your reply 'open' to furthering the conversation, by asking a question, or even lingering until Oke knows for certain that Joshua is alright, rather than having Okelane walk away, which virtually ends that thread.

Just a bit of an alteration to your application before we can get you all settled in!  As before, please copy and paste your application below, make the edits and repost. Thanks!
