Biography:
Once one of the most influential Pureblood families, the Invicta family lost all prestige after many of their heirs were squibs. One of the first wizards in his family in generations, Raxus is eager to bring back honor to his family name. Today, the Invicta family is only well known in ancient history books. Raxus is the child of a squib mother (Regina Invicta) and an unknown wizard father. This was a source of much gossip in the Invicta family, and even now many members refuse to acknowledge Raxus as one of their own. Feeling guilty for the (unintentional) rift he caused, Raxus often tries to hide or distract others from his last name. Recently, the scandal in his family reached a new peak as it was revealed that Raxus' own grandfather wrote him out of his will. Raxus will try to outrun his past at Hogwarts.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raxus Invicta sighed once more. How was it so hard to make friends? He wondered. Just moments before he was in a conversation with a couple of kids who seemed pretty friendly. Before the conversation was even over Raxus was mentally kicking himself. He knew that he wouldn't be able to muster up the courage to jump in the conversation. As a result, those kids would probably not talk to him again. Raxus liked to think that he had been through a lot for someone his age, but he still was too scared to even talk to people. So much for his first week at Hogwarts.

Raxus heard the bell and stood up to leave the courtyard. The group was still busy making plans about when to meet up after their classes.

"Let's walk this way!" A member of the group said. Raxus hovered uncertainly but decided to walk the other way and think about his failure. As a result, Raxus now stood lost in the center of the dungeons. Far off in the distance, Raxus heard footsteps. Turning a corner, he stopped when he heard a girl's voice call out. Raxus stood and processed what she had said for a moment. What was she talking about? Raxus had heard that name whispered once or twice earlier in the day, but he hadn't paid enough attention to what that name meant.

Raxus turned another corner as he prepared to reply. However, he startled when he saw her. The small blonde girl stood in front of him. Raxus hesitated for a moment and then remembered her name. Evangeline. He remembered hearing some older girls laughing about a dare. Was she part of it? Raxus composed himself and smiled. He could still make friends yet.
