Biography:
Ellis Walker
Born: June 13th, 1924
Place of Birth: Frankenmuth, Michigan, USA
Heritage: Half-Scottish (father), Half-American (mother)

Ellis Walker was born in the small, rural town of Frankenmuth, Michigan. Raised by his American mother after a fleeting encounter with his Scottish father, Ellis grew up with a deep connection to nature, often spending his time fishing, hunting, and exploring the outdoors. Despite the absence of his father, his upbringing was full of love and kindness, despite the travesty of the Great Depression.

Eager to serve his country, Ellis lied about his age to join the U.S. Army during World War II as a teenager. Following his participation in WWII, Ellis served in the Korean War, where he developed into a skilled and decorated soldier. His tactical abilities and courage earned him a position in the Special Forces, where he served until an injury forced him into early retirement in his late-30s.

Throughout his military career, Ellis had begun the process into looking into his father's side of the family. With the help of contacts he had made in Great Britian throughout his war days, as well as through the use of private investigators, he had found various leads  to his father's identity, but decided against following up on it until an injury forced him out of the military in 1962.

After retiring from the military, Ellis turned to academia, teaching at both West Point in  American, and the Royal Naval Academy in London as a guest lecturer. After spending a few years at the RNA, he finally decided to follow up on the leads about his fathers lineage. Through swift working of his contacts, plus years of experience of his own in intellegence work, he discovered who his fathers family was. They were wizards.

His father, having passed away years ago never knowing his son, was a pureblood wizard of a long-standing wizarding family. Although his father's family never knew Ellis existed, they had been quick to welcome him with open arms. Through their conversations and subsequent meetings, it was quickly revealed that Ellis was in fact, a squib. And although his father's family expressed disappointment and hints of pity at the lack of his magical prowess, Ellis was just grateful for having new family and a new world to explore.

Among all the discoveries he made, his decision was simple. He would explore and see this new, magical world for all it had, and renew his sense of wonder that had been grayed out through growing older. His family decided to send him a small stipend to support his exploration, and he entered the magical world for the first time at 48 years old.

Interests:
In his free time, Ellis enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, and studying magical wildlife. His love for the outdoors keeps him grounded, while his interest in magical flora and fauna fuels his curiosity for the world he cannot fully access.

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:

Ellis ambled down the road of Diagon Alley for the 4th time this week. Although he had nowhere to go and nowhere to be, every day was a new experience for him.

Magic. Real magic. All around him.

He had experienced all kinds of everything in the world. The rise and fall of nations. The worst side of humanity. The most beautiful, magical places that have existed on earth.

Well, "magical" was now a relative term.

Having discovered his magical heritige in his middle-age, a flurry of circumstances had revealed three things. One, Ellis was part of a magical family. Or at least, half-part of it, which Ellis discovered was an important distinction to some. The second was that, although he was of a magical background, he was unable to use magic himself. There was a term for his kind, but he was never bothered by it. Having met a whole new side of the family and learning of an entire wizarding world was enough of a gift for him.

Third and last was the lunch hour rush was the same in the wizarding world as it was everywhere else.

Today's lunch hour rush was particularly busy today, and Ellis just stayed leaning against a wall on the side of the road, people watching and learning all he could. Today's standout was a red-headed woman. She continually attempted to talk to all the passerbys as they rushed to their destination, hoping to eat their lunch and clock back in. 'Is that an expression here?' He wondered to himself, chuckling at the thought of a clock magically doing the job itself.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Her resilience was impressive, and Ellis spent a little more time than normal looking at her direction. As she sat down on a bench across the street and seemingly murmured to herself, Ellis wished her well and began to wonder what to explore with the rest of the day. As he began to push off the wall and head down towards the street, the red-head had gotten up with a vigor and done the same. Before another thought crossed his mind, his eyes shifted from her hair to her heel catching the stone.

He moved before his bag hit the floor.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” The girl yelled, as one of her shoes went it's seperate way, frantically tumbling along with her.

His movement was swift, with the push off the wall helping his momentum. He made his way through the crowd, although with his size, some people made way for him out of concern for their own safety. He bent down and scooped up the shoe by it's heel, and stopped in front of the young lady who'd taken a tumble. He crounched down in front of her way, back to the crowd, to make sure no one mistook her for pavement. He reached out his free hand and spoke with a soft, but weary voice.

"Are you okay Ma'am? Do you need some help?"
