Biography:
Little is known about Alec's early life. All he knows is that he was among the many Jewish children that arrived in Britain February 12, 1938 during the great Kindertransport and that the only reason he was among them, was because his parents or guardians had some sort of significant pull to make sure he was evacuated with his older sister Miriam who was seven at the time. He doesn't even know what his parents' names were or what they did for a living. And not knowing his family history has always bothered him tremendously.
He always has squirmed uncomfortably when anyone has prodded him about his family history, and it has infuriated him that he knows his older sister Miriam knows at least a little about their parents, but refuses vehemently to tell anyone about them, including Alec himself. What secrets is she hiding? Or are there any? Why won't she ever speak a word about them? These unanswered questions have always plagued the young man, and probably forever will.
Consequently, Alec has grown up not knowing anything of sustenance about his family heritage besides that his original last name is Schulyer before being adopted by a kindly old woman and her husband, they were evacuated as a result of the persecution and destruction of Jewish businesses and communities for safety reasons, and that Miriam and him were both born originally in Aachen, Germany.
Ever since 1938 his sister and him have lived in the small fishing town of Fishguard, Wales with a kindly old herbalist woman, by the name of Aaliyah Gwen Heulwen who is a halfblooded witch, and her husband, Broderick Mabon Heulwen who is a muggleborn wizard who prefers the life of a muggle fisherman to that of any job in the wizarding world. It was always a quiet life, but a good one. Aaliyah and Broderick have always been kind and sympathetic toward Miriam and him, and raised the two of them as if they were their own children or grandchildren. Besides the hotel supposedly being some sort of operations base for the British, the war seemed so far away for the most part to Alec since he was so young when transported.
He for the most part played the part a happy child quite well, although it always bothered him that he knew nothing of his past before Fishguard. Alec was rather withdrawn and introverted in public and around those he didn't know well, but he always loved going with Broderick when he set off for a fishing trip and helping Aaliyah grow her herbs. Though he was for the most part, a happy child back in Fishguard, he never has made friends easily. Major outlets for Alec have always been books, academics, and playing sports of any kind.
In spite of those things, Alec still harbors an unhealthy obsession of trying to find out about his life before the Kindertransport, and probably always will, until his curiosity is satisfied.
In Fishguard, Alec and his sister Miriam were homeschooled by Aaliyah and Broderick, who both thankfully knew German because their great grandparents had been originally from small villages on the borders of the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. They were taught the basics of Math, Science, Writing, Reading, History, (both magical and muggle), learned the English, Welsh, and Dutch languages, Herbology, Charms, Potions, and Healing Magic.
At Hogwarts, he has gotten more quiet and withdrawn out of fear he may one day lose his adoptive parents as well, while away at school, and being powerless to stop it. One of the main reasons for that is that it seems commonplace to discuss one's family with others and people just don't seem to understand why this makes him uncomfortable. That and it seems to the boy everyone is always inquiring about his past before the Kindertransport. It is perhaps really a false perception, but he doesn't realize that, yet.
Consequently, lately, he has departed from the happy young boy he appeared to be back at Fishguard. It is not uncommon to see Alec writing letters home to his adoptive family and sister more than once a day out of fear of losing them, and truly being all alone in this world. He has tried to cope with his exaggerated fear by playing Quidditch and burying himself in books and academics, and trying to get information about his real parents and his life before the Kindertransport, but has failed miserably thus far. Right now he has no idea what he wants to pursue as a career after graduation, and feels rather lost.
Regarding his sister, she never was happy, because she had many memories of her life before the Kindertransport, and the war was always right there in her mind. After all, it was because of the war that the two of them never saw their birth parents, again. She has always harboured great animosity regarding anything related to Germany, and is greatly involved in the Resistance Movement regarding the Hexenreich ever since she graduated from Hogwarts as a Gryffindor Alum. She was always a somber child and had very few friends as a result, but has always been fiercely protective of her younger brother, Alec.

Personality:
Withdrawn, fearful, introverted, lost, confused, unapproachable, cold, aloof, rude, obsessive, strange, pessimistic, hardworking, but competitive probably best describe the current perception of Alec by others while at Hogwarts. However, the reality is that inside Alec is actually rather smart, scholarly, cautious, helpful, determined, loyal, hardworking, curious about the world in general, patient, kindhearted, grateful for being blessed with such a loving sister and adoptive parents, friendly, and resourceful, but at the same time confused and harbors a desire to make those pay dearly for not allowing him to have a normal life with his birth parents and caused him to be oblivious to his heritage and life prior to 1938. Basically, Alec is a very complex and misunderstood individual who believes he was robbed of a normal life even though he cares deeply for the ones who took him in and longs for the happy life he had back in Fishguard, but with his own parents. He is obsessed with trying to find out about his real family, but is extremely fearful of losing what he does have in the process. He loves sports of all kinds, still, and reading, learning, animals, plants, the water, and writing prose and poetry.
Appearance:
Alec is about average height for his age, but has an athletic build courtesy of the many sports he likes to play. He has light brown, short hair, and blue eyes. He has quite a few freckles on his face and body and typically is found in dark, dress pants with a collared light colored shirt when not in his school uniform or wizarding robes, with dark colored semi-dressy leather shoes. He rarely is found smiling at Hogwarts, but it is a different story back home with his adoptive family, and upon first meeting him, he often comes off as cold, aloof, indifferent, old-fashioned, and unapproachable. However, when and if he does warm up to you, it is a totally different story. When playing his beloved sports, besides Quidditch, he is seen wearing shorts and a t-shirt with sneakers, but that is typically the only time one sees him dressed in such a way.

Option 2.
Alec had been one of the first of his house for breakfast because he hadn't been able to sleep comfortably, yet again. Hogwarts was not a new experience to him. After all he had been here for two terms already, but it was a place Alec had yet to feel comfortable at. He didn't belong here with all these happy-go-lucky people who knew so much about their heritage and background, while he knew next to nothing. He belonged back in Fishguard with his adoptive parents and friends that didn't care about one's background. He belonged with Broderick, helping him get the fishing boat ready for a fishing endeavor or with Aaliyah helping her tend her impressive herbal and vegetable garden. Consequently, with his lack of sleep, surprise, surprise, Alec had little patience with rude, inconsiderate, and irresponsible people this particular morning.
So when he spotted the older boy looking overly miserable, frantically looking for apparently, what Alec assumed was a lost pet of some sort, Alec really wasn't in the mood to have his morning stroll and writing session disturbed by such a nuisance. Now perhaps if the said disturber of the peace had been more polite, then Alec might have actually offered to help find the run away pet rat and offer to whip the boy up something to help his allergies. But unfortunately, that was not the case as Hugh seemed to bark at Alec like a rabid animal for no reason with some nonsense about how it was rude to stare.
Consequently, that set Alec off.
"Well, excuse me, Mr. Know-It-All, but I wasn't staring at you at all for your information. Why would I waste time doing so anyway?" Alec barked right back at the rude, inconsiderate, and irresponsible older boy.
"Rather, I was simply taking a morning stroll for some inspiration on my latest poetry piece before you Master of all Rudeness disturbed my few moments of tranquility."
And with that Alec rolled his eyes in annoyance as he contemplated simply heading to the Lakeside instead for inspiration, and leaving the pathetic excuse for an older boy behind in his obvious misery.
