Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Aurel Arcos

Birthday: May 13th

Hometown: Romania

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): 1 / 2

Biography:
"My children, you will face many hardships. For you are neither part of one world nor the other. Others will shun you, oppress you. Even your own relatives may belittle you. You must hide what you are from others."

These words stuck with Aurel as he grew up. The words of his mother guided most of his actions. His family originated from Romania as well as Hungary. Their blood was old blood. Aurel's parents raised their children to the best of their abilities. The children were home schooled and seldom went outside. Aurel was raised in this kind of environment. Though while his father worked at his mother stayed home with him. She was a kind and loving soul always looking out for her children. She also seldom went out except for the occasional dinner party with their father or family reunions which the whole family attended. Aurel didn't really enjoy the family reunions at least the ones on his father's side. Those relatives always seemed to look down on their family.

Even though they didn't go outside Aurel still enjoyed himself. After all when he was three years old he learned how to read and spent his time surrounded by books. Their manor had an elaborate library after all. He spent years immersed in it. Reading everything he could get his hands on. Other than always reading spent quite a bit of time with his family as well. Even though the manor was quite large the family itself was fairly close. They didn't always talk to each other but they respected each other. Especially since it seemed to be them against the world.

Aurel was still young when the war broke out. One night his parents gathered all of them together and told them that they were leaving Romania. They told the children that they were moving to England. This was quite the shock to all of them. They packed up their things and fled to England. They moved into a fairly large home in wizarding London. It wasn't nearly as large as their manor back in Romania, but it was large enough.

Soon after they moved to London Narcisa got her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. They all knew about magic, and had even been tutored in it by their father when he came home at night. Their father was from a pureblood magic family after all. So all in all it was to be expected. Aurel was sad to see Narcisa go. Although she was the bossy oldest sibling she had always watched out for him. It was cloudy and raining when Narcisa was due to leave. So the family made a point of going to the platform to see her off.

Growing up in London was nice. The weather was bad. Clouds and rain were commonplace there. Yet their parents had allowed the kids to go outside more often, this kind of freedom was nice and the children took full advantage of it, playing in the rain and jumping in puddles. Aurel, however, continued to spend most of his time surrounded by books, often venturing out to the public library in the rain to read the books there. Luckily he had learned how to read English back in Romania. He was always quick to learn.

Years went by and his siblings were one by one accepted into Hogwarts and during the summers they would come back and tell him how wonderful it was. Aurel couldn't wait for his turn to come for him to begin his school days at Hogwarts.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

Blimey, the Great Hall was packed. It seemed like everywhere a guy looked there was some clown waving around a House banner or yelling about the game.

'Can you believe it?' 'No way!' 'This must be the biggest upset in Hogwarts Quidditch history...'

Stupid Quidditch.

James flopped into an empty seat at the end of the table, shoved an empty plate out of the way, and let his head sink onto his crossed arms, squishing his freckled nose down flat against the tabletop. He wasn't sure why he'd even bothered to come here, since he definitely wasn't hungry. He'd probably never eat again, in fact. He didn'tdeserve to eat. He hadn't stopped in the locker room to change out of his muddy, sweaty uniform after the game either, because he was pretty sure he probably didn't deserve to be clean too; and anyway he couldn't stand to see the looks on his team mates' faces after he blew their chance at winning one of the biggest games they had ever played.

Just one lousy shot. That's all it would have taken. If he could have just got that one stupid foul shot to go through that one stupid hoop, they could have won and he wouldn't have been the biggest blockhead in the entire school.

As if to prove the point, half the people at the next table suddenly broke into a loud victory chant. James pressed his face further into his arms to hide the bright red blotches he could feel creeping up his cheeks. That was it. He was just going to have to run away and move to Nova Scotia. He'd just cost the three-year-in-a-row Champions the Quidditch Cup! How do you ever live that one down for crying out loud? He was only a second year and he was going to spend the rest of his life as 'that dumb cry-baby kid who dropped the Quaffle!'

It felt like every set of eyes in the room was boring into him, and James couldn't stand it anymore. He jerked himself back up from the table and stomped right back out of the Hall the same way he had come in. As he stormed into the quieter hallway outside, he could hear footsteps somewhere behind him. James rounded on the sound and began to shout, his brown eyes shining with tears. "WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

Aurel was tired. He was always tired during the day. It was so bright, so bothersome, so tiring. Though this particular day wasn't too bad. A little overcast was always nice. Yet that did not change the fact that he was tired in the least. He had rolled out of bed, dressing into his robes for breakfast. Nourishment is a bothersome necessity..but the morsels here are delectable and agreeable to my palate., he thought as he walked towards the Great hall for breakfast, his nose already buried in a book. Hogwart's library was as anticipated, mesmerizing. He could read a new book every day all year round for his entire time at Hogwarts and still have more to read. This is why he was known to read more than a book a day. He did want to get through them all after all.

He deftly dodged everyone around him without looking up from his book or slowing down. Ducking, twisting, leaping, sliding. It was all the same to him and the pages turned one after the other. After making it to the Great Hall without incident he made his way over to his House's table and sat down. He scanned the table without looking up from his book. His peripheral vision was quite good after all. He wasn't the only one reading. You could always count on a Ravenclaw to have a book nearby. He glanced up to read the titles of the books, discovering some that he hadn't read yet and he made a mental note to check them out later.
The food arrived and he was just about to dig in when he sensed something amiss. How troublesome., he thought as he leaned to the side and lifted up his hand where his head was but seconds before, catching the apple that had set the back of his head as the target. He went to set it down only to find that there was a bite taken out of it already. Fairly deep cuspid marks...Ah!, he whirled around to make eye contact with his sister Alina.

"Nice catch little brother."

"Please refrain from referring to me in such a belittling manner. It's unbecoming." He replied stiffly while making a face.

"Oh very well, I just wanted to ask you if you were coming to the quidditch match today. I heard it was going to be a good one." his sister inquired.

"I wasn't planning on attending", Aurel replied, "Yet if you insist.."

"I insist!"

"Very well, I shall attend." Aurel replied evenly once again returning to his meal...as well as his book.

"Great!" Alina exclaimed turning back to her own meal..which happened to be an apple short.

Aurel was glad that Alina had told him to come out to the Quidditch game. As she said it was actually quite good. One could even say spectacular. The three year defending champions had it in the bag, but then the other house came back. In the end it was neck to neck, each house struggling to get its next point. The challenging house took the lead and just in the last seconds of the match there was a foul. A boy from the defending champions took the shot and....missed. A complete and utter upset as the challenging house took the championship.

Back in the Great Hall again...since nourishment is indeed a priority, Aurel ate. He was trying to read as well but with all the commotion from the game, the chants, and the chattering he couldn't seem to focus. He sighed, finishing off his meal and getting up to excuse himself. He walked out of the Great Hall, book in hand, and reading. He sensed someone ahead and went to speed up to go past them when suddenly they turned on him.

"WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!" the boy exclaimed.

Aurel looked up from his book with a rather bored expression, though his eyes showed some surprise. To think that someone would speak to him in this manner for no reason. Why would he take a picture, who was this boy? He then notice the uniform. Noticed, because he smelled it before he saw it, and it took much of his willpower to refrain from covering his nose. He lifted up his book, showing the boy. "I happened to be engrossed in this literary text before you so kindly called out to me." he said, a flash of ridicule crossing his face. "I regret to inform you that not everyone dwells on Quidditch matches as you do. It happened, it was entertaining, it ended. As for wanting a photo taken of yourself, that seems to be a little narcissistic-....ah...unless that sarcasm... In either case I do not wish to take your photograph. I have neither the desire nor the means to do so in any case." Aurel stood there, book in hand staring at the smelly, dirty, disheartened boy before him.
