Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name:
Moon Ki-Won / Adonis Moon

Birthday:
November 17, 1954

Hometown:
Manchester

Bloodline:
Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one):
Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Charms

Year (pick two):
Second or First

Biography:
If you are applying to be a first, second, or third year, your biography must be at least one hundred words long.
If you are applying to be a fourth year or above, your biography must be at least three hundred words long.

Adonis has always loved stories. He was forever the one to beg his mother to read them just one more tale, to pull bring as many books home from the library as he could, the type of child to spin fanatical lies just for the fun of it. Though he enjoyed all mediums of storytelling, his favorites, by far, were films and plays.

It didn't matter the genre or time period or subject manner. Adonis loved them all, from the sweetest and sappiest to the most violent and adrenaline-filling. It was not just a means of escape from his depressing reality, but also what fueled him. He was forever a dreamer and saw himself both behind the camera and in front of it. The glitz and glam of the "business" were attractive to a boy who lived a life quite the opposite.

Twins weren't a part of Adonis's parents' plans. They were tight on money as is, and unprepared for the financial burden of an extra child. Though they tried their hardest to provide for their little family, they came up short in almost every regard.

One thing they made sure of was that there was something on the table each evening, even if it wasn't much. Much to their frustration, their efforts were in vain. Adonis still longed for much more than they had to give. Their whole neighborhood was too small for a boy with such a big personality and even bigger dreams.

On his eleventh birthday, his wildest dreams came true. A brand new world to explore come September. An escape from his troubled home life. He couldn't wait. While his first year may not have gone exactly as planned, he still greatly prefers his new life to his old and is eager for the next chapter.

House Request:
Slytherin

Personality:
Tell us a bit about your character’s personality (likes, dislikes, fears, etc.) What are they like on a good day versus a bad one? Is your character particularly cheerful? Do they hate sunlight?

Not only did Adonis want to star in movies, life was a movie and he never doubted he was the star. From humble beginnings, sure, but the endings would be shiny and golden, filled with flashing lights. Finding out about his powers and this secret magic world unbeknownst to most around him has cemented his belief that he is somehow special.

Adonis is, in one word, dramatic. Nearly every emotion and every expression he shows is dialed up to the max. He operates mostly in extremes — every good day is the best he’s ever had and every obstacle is his toughest challenge yet. Viewing nearly all of his problems with the same lens means that he tackles everything with the same unwavering intensity.

Still, he is a bit thoughtless with his actions, convinced that everything will turn out well in the end like in the stories he adores.

He is very socialable, though perhaps not the best at socializing. He hasn't learned that everyone isn't interested in what he has to say or wants to be dragged into his mess. He's always getting himself into something. He has an unending appetite for adventure and is too nosy to leave things alone.

Under layers and layers of idealism and determination lies the truth. That he’s a lot less brave than he thinks, and nowhere near as selfless as he pictures. He's self-absorbed, he's sensitive, he's needy, he's a little delusional. Just a little boy with big feelings that yearns to be seen by the world and have his voice heard.

Whatever. Every hero has flaws.

Appearance:
Briefly describe your character's appearance (hair color, build, stature, etc.) What effect does it have on their personality? For example, does the shy Ravenclaw girl secretly dye her hair black because she hates her natural blonde? Does the curly-haired Gryffindor use charms to hide his freckles?

Adonis is a little smaller than average, with dark hair and dark eyes. He loves jewelry and you will rarely find him not wearing his pride and joy: a thin gold necklace that he swears is real. He is very particular about his appearance and the way he carries himself. It often takes him a while to figure out how he wants to do his hair and what he wants to wear. Despite this, he will alter his presentation based on how he wants to come off, alternating between a rugged hero, a polished protagonist, and whatever else he's read about that week. If his hair is messy or his tie is undone, believe me, he is fully aware and has done it on purpose.

You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character. Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not Evangeline's or Hugh's.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

The dungeons were dark, damp, and sometimes smelly. It was far from the best place to hang out, but it was the best to read a spooky story.

His house commons were ruining his immersion. Even when he retreated to his dorm and burrowed under covers, it wasn't dark enough. So he grabbed his book, a blanket, and a candle, and set off for the dungeons.

At first, he was comfortably wrapped in the covers. As he grew more invested in the story, he abandoned the blanket entirely. He paced in the dark, book in one hand and gesturing with the other, reading the book to himself.

Adonis didn't know how long he carried on before he was interrupted. He nearly jumped out of his skin at the voice.

"Who?" He glanced behind himself but didn't see anyone.

"Wait, no, no, don’t tell me-!" A spark of recognition, and he snapped his fingers excitedly as the puzzle pieces came together. "I know Emma Birch! That's the dead girl, right? The older one?"

After he learned of his magical ability, Adonis spent a lot of time familiarizing himself with all the history and urban legends of Hogwarts. A lot of the more boring details were forgotten between his eleventh birthday and now, but who could forget the thrilling and tragic tale of Emma Birch? The fallout? Her lasting legacy?

"You know, Evangeline, you look different today." He squinted at her long enough for his pause to go from suspenseful to awkward. "Like her!"

Perhaps she looked the same as she always did. Admittedly, Adonis never really paid her much attention.

That didn't matter. In those few seconds, he had utterly convinced himself. A gasp left his lips, and he stumbled back, an accusing finger pointed straight at her face.
