Biography: Jean DeLaurent though French was born and raised in Bangalore,India by parents who had taken a liking to the beautiful scenery of India.He lived a very normal life, going to a muggle public school,hung out with muggle friends and did nothing magical at all.He did not even know he was a wizard until his family went on his yearly December visit to his mother, Marie De Laurent's ancestral house in Rouen that he overheard his aunt asking his mother when she was going to finally start his education.Jean puzzled over this and asked his mother at breakfast the next day.Marie dismissed it immediately, changing the subject. He decided to wait and forgot about it in another week. As he was nearing the end of his visit, he recalled it and asked his mother.She once again changed the subject but this time his aunt overheard and asked Marie with an incredulous look whether he did not know. Marie finally admitted that she did not tell him.Jean was close to bursting point with curiosity and finally asked them exactly what they were talking about. His aunt then told him that he was a wizard and was asking his mother when she was going to start his magical education.Marie then admitted that she and her sister were witches and had gone to Beuxbatons when they were young.His father,Louis DeLaurent who was in the next room said he did not know his wife was a witch until many years after their marriage.They had decided not to introduce him to anything magical but his aunt had protested.She had wanted him to go to Beuxbatons too.His parents looked at each other and decided.He was going to Beuxbatons! He going to learn magic!2 weeks later he still remembered with little incredulity how his life had changed so astonishingly that night,as he prepared to leave for his new school.
