Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Idris Medraut was born on 11 August, 1900 to Gwydion and Viona (neé Wautier) Medraut.  The only child of a wealthy pureblood family, Idris had a very privileged childhood, yet he was not in any way coddled.  As a young child, Idris was privately tutored in history and Latin as well as French, in accordance with his Brittany-native mother's wishes.  In addition, Idris grew up speaking both Welsh and English as his equally primary languages.
His father Gwydion was the second son and therefore not the family heir (Idris' uncle Cassius III was the head of the family beginning in 1896); as such, Idris was brought up understand that his role was to support and maintain the integrity and purity of the main line.  Cassius, however, had one crucial shortcoming as the family head-- he was unable to produce a male heir. Gwydion was next in line, but after his father inexplicably disappeared in 1921 and was proclaimed dead, Idris became the heir-apparent.

At the time of his father's apparent death, Idris had only graduated from Hogwarts (Slytherin House) a few years previously, and was working as a low-level lawyer in a London wizarding firm.  Ambitious and driven, he took his new role as the new heir very seriously, investing his time into elevating his own position so as to increase the standing of the family.  He became very interested in politics, hoping one day to bring the Medraut name into high-level Ministry administration.  As time wore on, his initiative and aptitude for oration and political skills moved him further up in the firm's hierarchy; at age 25, he made partner.

Around the same time, he met a young witch named Alexandra Breckenridge at one of the many social events in pureblood circles. She was pretty, sophisticated, and of course pureblooded, which made her a very attractive option for marriage.  Furthermore, she was educated and possessed finesse and grace in social settings, making her even more attractive as the wife of a politician and lawyer.  A little over a year later, in March of 1927, they were married.

A few years passed and Idris, looking ever forward, decided to leave the firm and begin his own practice in London.  He purchased a large townhome and converted the bottom levels into private offices, and the top floor became a luxury flat.  During the summers and holidays, Idris and Alexandra lived at the smaller of the two Medraut estates, Castellmawr Manor, while the impressive London flat became their more permanent residence.  The practice specialized in high-profile criminal law cases of a financial nature and was largely successful.

In 1929, Alexandra gave birth to a baby boy they named Orion, securing Idris' legacy.  With this new security came the question-- why not shift the power of family head to Idris now?  Cassius was rapidly losing pull in a faction of the minor Medraut branches in favor of a more aggressive, political approach to running the family and possibly end the decline of the Medraut family name.  The addition of a son and future heir was also highly desirable, even more so when that number became two in 1931 as a second son, Emrys, arrived.  Tensions mounted further as the traditional and modern factions of the family began to choose sides; suddenly, they were in the middle of a miniature "cold war" feud.

Everything exploded in 1936 with the mysterious accidental death of Cassius' only child, Vivienne Medraut-Galyn.  At Vivienne's funeral, a long lost daughter appeared-- Arianrhod Medraut, a thirty-year old woman by this time, whose existence had been hidden on account of her 'disgraceful' halfblood status.  Support for Idris' immediate claim of the head seat was bolstered with this revelation.

As of now, Idris is biding his time, waiting for the appropriate moment to strike.  He believes that moment may be coming very soon....

EXCEPTIONAL LEVELS
Answer these questions only if you are requesting levels above 32.

Why are you requesting higher than usual levels? e.g. Is your character a professor/auror/etc.? (1-2 sentences minimum):
Part of Idris' character is that he is a highly ambitious, driven person.  In school, he was the perfect student, receiving only Es and Os throughout his academic career.  As such, it is very likely that he would have magical levels that exceed the average wizard graduate's.  In addition, Idris studied dueling at home and was tutored extensively during the summers in many forms of the magical arts.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Mr. Grunch smirked as stepped into the shadows beneath the overhanging eaves at the side of the street. There was a sort of alcove here, where two buildings came together, and the wall was set back just a couple of feet to make space for a drain from the battered lead guttering. It made it difficult to see if anyone was standing there until you were almost on top of it, and the shape of the roof up above cast an almost permanent shadow even then.

There were a number of such places along Knockturn Alley and Mr. Grunch knew them all.

Seeing nobody was nearby, he quickly cast the concealment spell that would obscure his features, making him unrecognisable, just a blur beneath the cowl of his thick, but worn, robes. He knew his target, had identified them some time before, as they entered the Alley. He had shadowed them, discretely, and now, he knew, they were heading back out again, towards the safety of the better lit Diagon Alley.

He heard the footsteps approaching. This was it, then. Just before they reached the alcove, he stepped out suddenly in front of his target, wand raised and ready.

"Give me all yer galleons, and any jewellery yer got! Don't try to hide nothin', 'cos I'll know, right? Do it now!"

Roleplay Response:

In his line of work, there was little he could do to stay away from Knockturn Alley.  White-robe crime paid his expenses, and however nonviolent, the most elite of iniquities were still carried by the shadier underpinnings of the wizarding world. As such, the lawyer often had to venture onto the shadowed streets to collect... information relevant to his clients' personal security of finances and freedom. Today's excursion to the Alley was nothing new-- a brief meeting with one of his professional informants whose intelligence had been most enlightening --and it was with great satisfaction that Idris exited the tavern, his briefcase slightly fuller than when he'd first arrived.

Normally, he tried to be subtler about his appearance in the alley-- simple robes, neat hair, nothing over-dressed.  Today, however, Idris was slated to meet with a prospective client in Bristol, and there was little time to waste on changing outfits.  Pinstripe suit, felted fedora, a clean white pressed shirt and a simple hunter-green tie; he stood out and he knew it, so it was only a matter of time before....

"Give me all yer galleons, and any jewellery yer got! Don't try to hide nothin', 'cos I'll know, right? Do it now!"

Idris stopped, an eyebrow raised at the lowlife he'd suddenly encountered.  Being held at wandpoint was nothing new; he'd had plenty of.... dissatisfied clients in the past (though far more were the grateful schmucks who'd gotten off through services rendered).  And really, the threat of a wand was less unnerving than a Muggle gun because while a firearm had only one terrifying function, a wand had so many possibilities; if your luck held well enough, the person on the other end was not a killer. When it all came down to it, it was a game of chance, and Idris Medraut was very good at beating the odds.

"You must be a fine Diviner indeed," he remarked coolly, not moving an inch, and if there was sarcasm in his words, it was cleverly disguised.  "I'm afraid you've caught me at a rather inconvenient time, however, so...."  He lifted his briefcase.  A hand quite swiftly reached behind the flap facing him, making as if to unclasp the case's buckle; the bag, however, hid his breast pocket from view, and inside the folds of his robes, the attorney found the handle of a darkly-stained blackthorn wand....

Stupify, he thought mildly, and the wand was revealed, pointed straight in the thief's direction.
