Biography:

Madison Whitmore was born early on August 7th of 1948. She was the youngest child, having an older brother, Thomas, who was a few years older than herself already. With Madison being born, their family was complete. The perfect little family, two parents, and two perfect children - one boy and one girl. From the outside everything was perfect. They had a wonderful little house, beautiful fenced in yard - their father worked hard and often long days, while their mother took care of things at home.

Growing up, things were always a certain way - they had routines and rules and almost nothing could change how things were. For Madison, this was a bit more frustrating than she really wanted to voice. Perhaps it was just how her parents saw things, girls dressed a certain way and liked certain things yet she would happily disagree with what her parents' views were if she could. She hated the frilly dresses and everything - oh everything was just so pink and ... prissy.  Yet she would always be given dresses and bows and so many dolls. Much to her distaste, there was always so much pink!

It was when she was starting school though those odd things began to really happen, the dresses that she hated would have things happen to them - appearing back in her closet utterly irreparable or coming out the wash in any color other than the horrible pink shades that they had once been. It wasn't just the dresses though, but other tiny little things as well... she'd be upset with some bully, and then strange things would happen to them - it was almost like magic sometimes. But that was silly because magic wasn't really... real right?

One of the oddest things that would happen though often occurred when her parents would fight. Try as they might to try and keep it quiet from their children, Madison almost always overheard it - resulting in her hands over her ears and tears in her eyes as her parent's voices would raise. She wanted it to just stop!

With her eyes clenched and tiny hands over her ears - sometimes.. as she wished hard for the fighting to stop, it did.. usually, after a random object would suddenly break. Making no sense at all - as no one had touched it...

By the time Madison was eight, her parents were practically strangers, no longer living together and only really speaking when it was in regards to their children. Sometimes fights did still happen, but they were far fewer and far between than they had been before - usually, they were about who would be having the kids for a certain holiday or something else. Maddie still hated it but... things were easier and she was at least doing much better without worrying about the fighting going on.

Madison and her brother spent a lot more time together, between being shifted back and forth between two homes and lives, they grew closer than they had been before. Her brother was always making sure things were okay, be it making sure their parents didn't argue around her - or simply making sure she was doing okay at school. Her big brother became one of her best friends.

Just after her eleventh birthday, a letter arrived for Madison - there was a lot mentioned in the letter that her parents refused to believe. Namely that there even was some 'Wizarding School' - they assumed it was a joke, at least until the visit by people in robes who did further explaining and helped convince her parents how it was, in fact, the truth.

Finding out that magic actually existed, real and honest to goodness - actual magic.... it was an amazing thing for the young girl. All her life she had lived through stories about magical and fantasy adventures, a world of whimsy - most would declare it, her mother included in this. But now she had found out that it was real, and to make things even more amazing - she was a witch. Magic was apart of her and she would be attending a magical school.

House Request: Can she be sorted, please?

Personality:
Madison is a bright young lady with a strong creative side, she loves to draw and paint - and is almost always seen with stains on her hands and clothes. She hates being treated like she is helpless, or worse a 'silly little girl' - she is very independent and curious - always having questions and seeking answers.

However, she does possess a strong stubborn streak. Especially when it comes to keeping her word about things she says. It is of the utmost importance to her. She is a firm believer that promises should be kept, except in extreme circumstances of course - more than once a broken promise has been the cause of pain for her. A pinkie promise made by this young lady is certain to be kept.  She also cares strongly for her friends, and despite being on the smaller, or rather shorter side - she is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and to those older than herself.

Appearance:
Madison has long slightly curly, blonde hair that she rarely ties back - spending more time outdoors often lightens her hair even further than it usually is. She has strikingly bright green eyes and pale skin that is known to burn easier than she'd like. She is a little more on the shorter side, much to her own distaste. Despising dresses and skirts, when not in uniform she is almost always found in either overalls or jeans, most of which are almost permanently stained with paint of some kind.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character. Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not Evangeline's or Hugh's.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet traveled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing, but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Madison was never one to back down from a challenge, and being told that she couldn't do something - was simply going to make her want to do it even more. She had heard the stories, the whispers, and the rumors. She was a curious young witch and wanted to see for herself if anything of it was true, as far as she had read about ghosts usually they would haunt places either near where they passed or places of importance. Was the house you were sorted in an important enough place?

She had a lot of questions, and finding the answers was apparently the newest thing on her list of things to discover. But she hadn't been expecting to come across another younger student down here when they certainly should not be at this time. It was against the rules right?

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of the other girl's question in the room made Maddie jump slightly but she quickly moved, heading towards the other girl a small smile on her face as she hands quickly tucked into her jacket pockets. Apparently she was here for a similar reason. How totally awesome was this!

"You're looking for her too? Do you really think she's down here?" There was a glimmer of excitement in voice, green eyes brightening at the thought of getting answers to some of her questions.
