Biography:
After a dismal performance during his first year at Hogwarts it was decided by Abraxos’s father that he would leave school and continue his education at home, under his father’s watchful eye. His father, Barbatos, told him that with him in control of what and how Abraxos learned, he would finally start to show the true potential of a firstborn Devell son.

Unfortunately, despite his father’s best efforts and paying for the best private tutors money could buy, Abraxos remained only mediocre in most areas of magic. It seemed that spells and other areas of magic that required the use of a wand still eluded Abraxos. It was the finer areas of magic, not the “flash and bang” subjects, that he excelled at.

Divination, in particular, was something he was very good at, although it was never something he studied with his tutors. It was the first thing that was removed from his curriculum when his father took over. Divination wasn’t something that Abraxos wanted to be good it; he would have been perfectly fine with never studying it again if it meant his studying more in other areas equalled improvement in those areas. When it became clear, however, that putting in all that extra effort didn’t really make much of a difference in his ability, Abraxos went back to studying Divination on his own in private. Luckily his mother, Laylah, was much more caring and loving than his father and bought Abraxos the necessary equipment behind her husband’s back.

When a year had gone by with Abraxos having improved only minimally, and with the approaching date of his perfect younger brother’s arrival at Hogwarts, Abraxos was sat down by his father and told it was no longer in the family’s best interest to have Abraxos as the heir. With his younger brother, Xaphan, showing so much promise in his pre-Hogwarts education, Barbatos felt he would be a better future leader than Abraxos.

The announcement had given Abraxos mixed feelings. It took him a couple of hours of just sitting in front of his father’s desk, long after the man had said his piece and left the room, before Abraxos was really able to process what such a monumental change might mean for him.

Could he do what he wanted now? Actually figure out what he liked to do and do it without worrying about suffering the consequences of his father’s disappointment? It might be too soon to tell, but one of the first things Abraxos did to exert his new sense of freedom was to toss out everything he’d been given by his tutors and to demand that he return to Hogwarts for his education.

If he was no longer going to fill his father’s place in the future, he wanted to be as far from the man as he could.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Slytherin, please!

Personality: Still on the cold and detached side, the events of the past couple of years have also given Abraxos a newfound rebelliousness that he never would have dared in the past. Having his father renounce him as the family heir has given Abraxos a sense of freedom and he’s no longer afraid to push boundaries he once would have stood firmly behind.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
The dungeons were one of his favorite places to escape the hustle and bustle of the rest of the halls of Hogwarts. Although Abraxos had grown more comfortable around his peers since his return to school, no longer feeling like he had to compete and be better than all of them, he still preferred his solitude a good amount of the time. His house common room and even his own dormitory felt a little too crowded for his taste so he escaped down to the darkness of the corridors beneath the castle’s main floors.

Down here it was cool, so cold sometimes that one could see their breath as they made their way along the rough-hewn stone walls. Abraxos had always enjoyed the cold, it was refreshing and always gave him a sense of clarity he didn’t have under normal circumstances.

Today he was down in one of the empty rooms that never seemed to be in use, flipping through a magazine about palmistry. It was an area of Divination that had always interested Abraxos. And even though he was more comfortable with his peers he still didn’t let many people know that he actually enjoyed Divination. It was mostly considered a feminine subject and Abraxos did not need that kind of stigma associated with his name.

For a long time the only noises he heard were his own breathing, the fluttering of the pages as he turned them, and the occasional scratch of some creature’s feet along the floor. With no other people around Abraxos lost track of just how long he’d been down in the dungeons.

He’d been down there long enough that when he finally heard the sounds of another human, it startled him a little.

"H-h-hello?"

His head lifted from leaning over the magazine and he listened closer to the voice. When he heard the girl call out the dead girl’s name, Abraxos laughed quietly to himself.

Turning toward the entrance of the room Abraxos called out loudly, “I don’t think Emma is a ghost but if you stand there long enough I’m sure another will come along to spook you.”
