Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Aldar Makae Silverton

Birthday: April 10, 1925

Hometown: Has moved frequently.

Bloodline: Unknown

Magical Strength (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one): Charms

Year (pick two): Sixth or Seventh year

Biography:

Aldar Makae Silverton was born in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm. Her parents, Vedlin Silverton and Jala Mosion-Silverton raised their daughter on the road as the Silverton’s traveled for a living. Her father, Vedlin, spent his life studying the magical qualities of the earth and astronomy. Her mother, Jala, spent her time learning music, psychology, and used divination to help others, mainly the rich. Both kept their bloodline and personal stances on the politics of the wizarding world a secret from Aldar, but they were open to Aldar learning magic at an early age and making her own decisions.

Aldar is the only child of Vedlin and Jala, and spent most of her time with her aunts Kalsa (her father’s sister) and Belair. Kalsa and Belair write stories in their spare time, and socialize more than anything, as their research and work tends to be in the direction of hearing stories from other people and then documenting the stories. Kalsa and Belair are particularly fascinated with the muggles take on and stories of witches and wizards. Due to this Aldar has grown to love story telling and a love for writing, and will often find herself growing restless if she hasn’t had a good conversation in a while.

Her parents raised Aldar in a very safe and loving environment. They lived in the countryside and didn’t have any neighbors. Aldar spent a majority of her time outdoors, gardening and learning from her parents. She would spend time with her aunts in the city when her parents would travel or would want some time alone. Her aunts would take Aldar to the city or other places in the world, which allowed Aldar to learn that there was so much more out there in the world than she had originally thought of. It was during these trips with her Aunts that Aldar began to explore her place in the world. There was so much as a child that she fell in love with and that appeared to be contradictions, that Aldar struggled with herself and began to doubt her presence in the world. However, with encouragement from her Aunts, Aldar grew to accept the contradictions within herself, and sought to remain true to herself and follow her instincts. This built up a strong will within Aldar, though she can easily slip back into doing things in order to fit in.

As her parent’s work and her Aunt’s travels focused on the presence of other people, Aldar was able to be immersed at least for short moments in different cultures, classes of people and lived in a variety of situations. Even with all of these experiences she still loathed going to parties as she found the people and conversation to be unsatisfying and stuffy. When the adults in her life went to parties, Aldar would spend time with her dog, Reg, an Alaskan Malamute exploring the surrounding landscape.

Aldar was home schooled for a long time, and would often go to stay with one of her Aunt’s friends for tutoring, the eccentric Beron Valdir. Beron lives amongst his books, and often could be found going to social gatherings where betting was involved. Despite the men’s clubs and organizations he was a part of, he would always bring Aldar along, in which, to her delight she would dress up as one of the boys and fit right in. Due to this Aldar has no problem being in different situations and appreciates the thrill of being able to explore herself and adapt to different events.

During the Holidays she gets together with her parents, her Aunts, and Beron and they often go traveling or sometimes they will cram into Beron’s townhouse to celebrate, and really anything is a cause of celebration for them.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: No request (whatever you see as fit)

Personality: Aldar in outward appearances is a very positive or at least happy person, though must of the time her thoughts tend toward a darker road. She is quieter but enjoys having a good conversation and can often talk a lot and is seen as being a little bit full of herself at points if she gets on a topic and wants to share with others everything about herself. However she doesn’t like being vulnerable and tends to put up walls against other people. She loves and hates people at the same time. If she wants to be alone or is set on concentrating on something and people keep interrupting her then she gets annoyed very easily and can sometimes take out her anger on inanimate objects. Aldar loves nature and reading, and studying things such as death and the life cycle. She particularly loves anything shunned by others and anything that presents a mystery to her. Aldar is full of contradictions, and doesn’t mind acting how she feels, as she tends to let her emotions get the best of her. Her main goal is to do what she wants, and to figure out her purpose in life, and she will do this (what she thinks is best for her) regardless of the impact on others, though she will feel bad if she does have to hurt some people in the process. Aldar loves creating things and trying to solve the unsolvable questions of the universe which leaves her often in a self-inflicted struggle with herself over what is true or not.

Appearance: Aldar is tall, around 5 ft and 9 inches. Due to her height and facial structure (and her own personal perception of being both genders) and her often-changing likes and dislikes, Aldar enjoys playing with her gender and will sometimes dress as a boy. One day she can be seen dressed up, and another day wearing slacks and a jumper. She doesn’t mind what she wears as long as it has meaning to her and fits in with her mood. She likes to wear colors that allow her to blend in more and thus are often darker/neutral or more earth tones. Aldar rarely wears any make-up, as she sees it as a hassle to get off. Aldar has long hair, and the color changes frequently. Her eyes are a dark blue and sometimes change color depending on what color clothes she is wearing (for example if she is wearing green her eyes will appear more green). Aldar is very thin and doesn’t seem to have a lot of muscle, but she is rather strong despite her fragile looking appearance. She appears more like a child than anything, and is frequently mistaken for being younger than she actually is.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

Replying to Option 1:

Aldar had watched the game and it was a good one. She wasn’t too invested in sports as she found them to be to unpredictable, so she enjoyed the excitement of not knowing who was going to win, but she could care less on who did. She had tied her hair back as she ran to the Great Hall to grab some food before heading out to take some pictures of the Forbidden Forest, as the sun was hitting the tree line just right. She had started taking pictures and developing them in her free time after her father had picked up a camera for her on his travels. He had told her to take pictures of whatever she found to be interesting and send them to him so he could get them put in a book.

As her bag hit against her legs, she stopped running as she saw James, one of the guys on the Quidditch team, start to yell at someone. She looked around and stared at him, and then realized that he was yelling at her. It looked like he was crying, and she bit her lip trying not to laugh or show really any kind of emotion. She did find it rather amusing that she had been there at the right moment to watch him snap, or at least fall apart, but a part of her did feel bad.

“Hey, watch what you’re saying. I was going to take a picture of myself, loser that I am, but now that you mention it, I won’t as it seems to be so obvious.” Aldar joked smiling as she turned and walked towards him.

“But, in all seriousness man, you need to stop being so hard on yourself. It doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks as longs as you know that you tried your hardest. Take a deep breath and relax, and then go back out there and continue trying your hardest. If you give up now then all you will be doing is hurting yourself.” Aldar spoke with her hands, waving them around, and then when she was done she put her hands on her hips and waited for him to respond. If anything, if he didn’t want to go back out there and try again then she would try to personally drag him out there and force him to try again. But then again it wasn’t so much of her problem as it was his.

Aldar,

Hello and welcome to HS.net! We are so glad that you found us; make yourself at home!

Aldar sounds like a very interesting young lady! She has a well thoughtout background and will make a wonderful addition to one of the upper year classes!

Before we can get you roleplaying, I have just one clarification that I would like to see based upon your application. You don't have to change anything in your application, just replying to this message with your answer will suffice and then we can work on getting your application accepted!

In the appearance section, you note the following:
Quote
Aldar has long hair, and the color changes frequently. Her eyes are a dark blue and sometimes change color depending on what color clothes she is wearing (for example if she is wearing green her eyes will appear more green).

My inquiry is more to the hair than to the eyes, as I know that eyes in real-life - especially shades of blue - can change slightly in hue to mimic what one is wearing or feeling. However, you also state that she changes her hair color. My question is, does she do this in conventional ways (i.e. hair dye) or does it happen magically? If you intend for this to happen magically, she would be considered a Metamorphmagus and a Special Request would need to be filed. The form for that can be found here. If she changes it in a more conventional way, keep in mind that Hogwarts requires students to have 'naturally occurring' hair colors (i.e. blonde, brunette, red, black...).

Once you respond to this inquiry, we can get you playing with all of us very soon! Hope to see you around!

Sincerely,

Marlena

Hi Marlena,

Thank you for letting me know, and sorry about the confusion. She uses hair dye to change her hair color, and sticks to "naturally occurring" hues.

Best,

Aldar
