    Biography:
How to explain an entire life in one concise narrative?

She'd had an odd childhood. Her father must have been an amazing and unscrupulous wizard, to have tricked her mother so; who would have the world believe that he used charms, or transformation, appearing as her current lover while she was in the bath. He'd unabashedly claim that she was merely drunk at the time. He was a horrible wizard. (Alright person, bad at magic, very muddled bloodline)

Whatever the reason, the fruit of their union was plucked unripe, and raised exclusively by the father, Seoman Chronotis. He gave her not his own, but an old and powerful name, and after a chance mispronunciation at an award banquet she took on her current one. Names; it doesn't really do to keep one name for too long anyway, and she was already on the road to enhanced longevity.

What happened to her? She could have been an upstanding citizen of the wizarding world, sliding smoothly into one of the handfull of jobs that existed.

Before her training was complete, her father saw fit to disappear into the world rather than chance a disappearance into Azkaban. He'd never had respect for laws, less for bureaucrats, something he made sure to pass down. With virtually no knowledge of her mother, and the Chronotis estate now poised to be snatched up in much the same way she suspected it had been before her father possessed it, Kyla became a ward of the state, summers spent with his squib relatives.

That wasn't what happened. As little as she knew her mother, she didn't really care for her father either. Losing her parents had little effect on her.

Her principle occupation, the way she spends her time, is as a go-between in the murky grey of the world. She wouldn't have it any other way. Kyla has a reputation for being able to get whatever you want - no questions asked. Transactions across Muggle and Magical lines are her specialty, and for a 100 galleon deposit, she can rent you a nigh-undetectable revolver (wrapped in wax-paper to preserve the exotic oil its been rubbed with).

As an adult, Kyla is a lavish entertainer who relishes the energy of others. She can go for days with the right crowd, something she makes a point of at least once a year. In her company, drinks flow right along with the conversation. She keeps just enough guest beds to handle overindulgence, and a fully-stocked pantry of hangover remedies; energy drinks, herbs, and more booze. She actually drinks Prairie Oysters with hot sauce.

With magic, its easy to have presence in the non-magical world. Her absolute favorite pass-time is Cloud-club cross-dressing (its men-only at this time, those louts), buying expensive cocktails, on the upper floors of the Chrysler Building. Posing as a millionaire is all-too-easy for someone with even a squirt of enchantment.

She takes comfort in foods that remind her of the ocean, indulging in exotic delicacies like sea-mustard soup and cold-smoked mackerel; she takes vacations in her father's coastal estate whenever she can. Kyla acquired it as soon as she had the means.

    Roleplay:
    Option Two -
    Roleplay Response:

"There now," a deep and soothing voice intoned, "No need to swear." There was an element of command and assurity only acquired with experience.

Kyla was wearing a grey suit and cloak; dressed as a man, as usual, but without the aid of magic. Long and strong fingers grasped Joshua's shoulders, helping him to his feet and out of traffic. Kyla had an interesting smell about her, like old books, cinnamon and cloves, dust, wine, and bile; almost but not entirely pleasant.

"I've a place just off the street," she purred; rich butterscotch voice, "Lets get something hot in you while I check you over..."

She smiled indulgently at his objections, and maintained an unusually strong grip.

The place was indeed off Diagon Alley, but seemed unfinished. Dark and cramped. However, coffee was served, on a motley collection of dishes. The carafe was a french press, black plastic and lexan. She offered tea cups that were stained and chipped, with their own plates, bone china, and she set aside one for herself with a ghastly crack opposite the handle. It looked like it would break if she poured too hard into it. The tea-tray itself was garish, something enameled and lacquered in a faux Nipponese theme from decades past. The coffee was muddy, but rich and strong.

"I've got a little something to reduce the inflammation," Kyla murmured, settling into an overstuffed armchair opposite. "But I'm not actually licensed to practice magic." She continued to smile, a practiced and neutral expression that had as much meaning as the twitch of a cat's whisker.

"On humans, I mean!" And she snickered and chortled, a restrained kind of laughter.

How did you find us? I was recommended at an xmas party, although I'm sorry to say that this is a very toned-down version of the application that I'd have liked to submit.[/list]
