Magical Strength (pick one): Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): fifth ( preferred ), sixth

Biography:

From the start Brutus Razi was on a path to greatness, but that would be the last thing he’d tell you.  As the first born child of Quintus and Milburga Razi it was known he’d be taking over his fathers part of the business when he grew up.  Even if his siblings proved to be better than him, their future was determined with him inheriting the family business.  A business that operated in trade of the finest procured animal parts for potions, and the occasional magical artifact.  According to his father anything could be bought and procured for a price with their business being making those transactions happen for the right customers.

For him Hogwarts was about making the right connections and developing the correct reputation.

In his first year he tried to be like his cousins who had parents who worked in the ministry and more reputable wizarding establishments.  Like them he tried to make friends with the children of the right pureblood families, but in many cases saw their eyes downturn towards him.  It was as if they were saying he wasn't good enough, which made him try harder.  Then his father asked him the value of those friends based on the simple fact that he’d be taking his place in the family business.  A place that meant one was needed to be respected or even feared - but not liked by most.  As the majority of the customers who dealt in the illegal trades of the wizarding world refused to associate with those they did business with.

The more friends of stature he gained the less customers he’d potentially have later.

By his second year he looked at his friends and realized only a few would stand by his side.  Of those few he kept, along with a few students who had abilities that might be worth recruiting later.  Others he purposely kept as acquaintances as their families had the potential to be future customers.  As his father said it was more important to build up a few good friendships and a reputation that would stand the tests of his future occupation.  Which if his father was any indication meant at least one trip to Azkaban - or a close call with such that would be just as publicly damaging reputation wise.

He found his stride in his third year and continued it further.

He built his reputation easily.  In his early years he picked a couple of the weaker older years and bullied them enough he claimed some level of dominance.  He almost encouraged his third cousin Tigran complain about him, and fueled it by locking Tigran in a broom closet occasionally when people started calling him soft.  Little did Tigran realize it he continued that dominance by giving anyone who messed with any of his cousins, Tigran included, worse treatment.  Of his cousins, Tigran was the only one he bullied with due to the boys lack of standing even within the family due to his squib parents and siblings.  Though it was mostly due to his fathers advice as his other cousins needed to see a show of dominance somehow, but childhood quarrels of those with high station in the family could be risky.  As his father often reminded him sometimes those in the family of higher station forgot it was people like them in the background that kept them up there.

An insult a day kept those unworthy of his time away, and likely in slight fear of him doing worse than saying something insulting.

His grades at Hogwarts were a formality, but even then he had his cousin Tigran do enough of his homework that his grades were acceptable.  Though as he watched Tigran complete both their assignments, he was confident his cousin could have raised his grades to exceed expectations if he asked - he never would.  The point for him was to get out of Hogwarts as acceptably average, so it wasn’t worth either of their time to try for more.

Brutus Razi was exactly where he wanted to be in the castle.

Brutus had a few friends that served their purpose but as he got older he was putting lower odds on them standing by his side as adults.  He was seen by most as a tough bully of mediocre magical abilities.  Or to steal his cousin Tigran’s not so secret terminology for him and add a crown, he was King of the Pureblood Prats.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request:
If there was a hat stall as a firstie he would have requested Slytherin.

OOC the only house I don’t want him in is Ravenclaw.  I’m playing him as if he’s been in the castle the whole time, but I’ve been playing Tigran as if he doesn’t have any prat cousins in Ravenclaw.  All of Brutus academic smarts outside the area of Transfiguration and CoMC are purely the work of Tigran doing his assignments - even those smarts aren’t that impressive.  So definitely not a Ravenclaw anyways…

Personality: Tough, Confident, Superior

He understands his place.  Yet there is a part of him that wants close friendships and resents the fact he constantly pushes people away with his need for dominance.  He has a slightly protective softness he won’t admit to when dealing with family.  His third cousin Tigran is the person in the castle he trusts in most ( obviously unknown to Tigran since a large percentage of his actions are bullying in nature ).

Appearance: Tough, Confident, Superior

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY. - Option 2:

Roleplay Response:

Flowers pulled from their stalks and a garden of disgrace.  It didn’t take long for him to find the cause of the ruckus and he smiled as he realized the boy was of zero importance.  Anyone who was so disgusting they wiped their nose on their robes had little potential to gain enough sophistication to manner as an adult.

"Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare.”

Looking at the boy he said evenly “ It is not polite to tear apart a garden like a toddler having a tantrum. “

Then he started playing with his wand in his fingers giving it a few turns absentmindedly.  Turns that were well practiced to appear casual, but always were done in a way that in a few syllables it could be easily pointed at someone.

Moving his weight to his right foot he looked the boy in the eye and said “ I presume you’re done with the flowers? “  He wasn’t so much asking it as a question.  It was more a statement left open for the other boy to determine where this encounter went.  As he intended for the flowers to not experience the consequences of another bout of the other boys tantrum.
