CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Joanie Dixon
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Blood Status: Muggleborn

Education:
Joanie studied at Hogwarts as a Hufflepuff. She did very well in school, doing especially well in Charms. She particularly focused on healing charms, and excelled in that part of her schooling. She also enjoyed Transfiguration. Her weakest subject was Divination, since she had no respect for the profession. She spent a lot of time faking injuries to spend more time with the healer, so didn’t have many friends.

Residence:
Joanie is getting a new place in London, so it still has that new place look and smell. Her Muggle family’s influence is all but erased, as they hate London with a passion, since they are ardent rural Ireland residents. She lives on the upper floor of an fourties three floor home. The place is cozy but messy, with the only organized section being her study, where she spent the majority of her time studying to become a healer. In the room, her favourite possession is the fireplace, and her quill.

Occupation
Healer

Do you plan to have a connection to a particular existing place (for example: the Ministry, Shrieking Shack) or to take over an existing shop in need of new management?
She is planning on working in St Mungoes as a healer.

Biography: (300 words minimum.)
As a muggle born, Joanie started off in the wizarding word in a disadvantaged place. She had no exposure to magic until she made the door disappear. So when she got her Hogwarts letter, she was baffled, and had absolutely no idea what a wizard even was. And Hogwarts was a shock, since Joanie lived in rural Ireland. Her dad worked as a farmer, focusing on sheep. Her family focused on ethical farming, one of the first. Her mother was a small down family doctor, which is where Joanie first discovered her love of medicine.

Joanie struggled at Hogwarts. She got lost on numerous occasions in the school, and struggled socially. That is until she discovered charms. She demonstrated competency at Charms the third class. At that point, she began to support her classmates. Especally as a Hufflepuff, she showed tremendous loyalty to her classmates that she helped. She developed one close friend during her time, who was also skilled at Charms. She especally thrived once healing charms were taught. The only times she succeeded in Summoning was when it related to her interest. She did very poorly at Divination, as she thought it was absolutely useless. In order to spend time with the healer, she faked numerous injuries. While the healer always doubted her, Joanie learned a lot during her time in the wing. Her final year, she worked endlessly to ensure that she passed the examinations. She dropped the majority of her tutoring obligations, and kept only her major friend. Her final year is when she faked the most injuries.  She passed the requirements, and moved on to post Hogwarts education, where she thrived with others that had like interests. This is where she improved her Transfiguration skills.

After she graduated, Joanie to Killarney to open a wizarding healing practice, where she worked for 8 years, until disaster struck for her. During that time, Joanie developed her skills as a business women, and developed a streak for demanding excellence, something many of her colleagues did not enjoy. But she never expected disaster, when she faced a particularly difficult client. The older man ended up dying after she misdiagnosed his deadly spider bite. While she did not lose her accreditation, she lost her confidence, leading to the heart wrenching decision to sell her practice. At this point, she worked in a local healer’s assistance and lived with her friend. Then, she finally got a position at St. Mangos and moved to London to begin again.

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
It was Joanie’s first day and she had stopped in Diagon Alley. She needed to pick up some critical supplies for her job. She had obviously left things to the last possible second and she was regretting that. As she walked by, she saw an annoying reporter. She wanted to be rude, but she decided not to.

And then she was glad. Because she fell down. Joanie bent down and said “What are you doing?” While it was hard to pity a reporter, she did when she saw the woman reaching for her heel around . She glowered at people around them as she bent down and reached her hand out.

Joanie kept looking at her watch, as she knew she was running behind.
