RUSSIAN PUREBLOODS

ORGANISED CRIMINALS

A FAMILY IN EXILE

HOUSE OF

Borovsky

The Borovsky name has been associated with witchcraft for as long as it has existed. They first rose to prominence in the 7th century in the northern oblasts of Russia through violence and black magic with rumours of necromancy and ancient blood magick following them wherever they bestrode. Their grab for power was quick, met with little resistance, a fearsome reputation spreading throughout the vast lands as they built their morbid empire and came to be known as the formidable Borovsky.           (scroll)

These witches and warlocks are high born Purebloods, traditional yet macabre with their twisted brand of what could be construed as Catholicism dictating their lives and moral compass. To this day they remain the most feared and powerful wizarding family in Mother Russia, however their empire in the UK has fallen. Many are dead, even more have been imprisoned, and the rest live in exile. Like a phoenix, and against all odds, they must rise from the ashes.

When considering the journey and personality of your chosen Borovsky there are a few threads that could be pulled.

You could be a highly devoted religious fanatic on a mission to spread the Borovsky word. You could carry the weight of your family's suffering and be out for revenge. Perhaps you have are losing your faith and are overwhelmed by doubt, but know family traitors rarely survive their wrath. Are you being groomed for greatness? Are you on a fast track to join your elders in Azkaban? The Borovsky are a formidable family, cultish, and corrupt -- and they are waiting for you.

SUGGESTED CAREERS  Russian Diplomat/Politician, anything within  Borovsky crime syndicate, priory, or court of justice.

If you are looking to explore themes of guilt, shame, religion, or intergenerational trauma, you're in the right place.

Children within the Borovsky family are raised with strict rules and high expectations. You can safely assume that your chosen Borovsky had to become a master of subtlety and manipulation in order to indulge in anything the family consider unacceptable, sinful, or toeing the line of treason.

Questioning the Borovsky way (their family law or their religion) would have resulted in corporal punishment. All Borovsky are raised with an fervent devotion to their bastardisation of religion with a number of deities to make daily offerings to in addition to praying to their supreme God - an ancient ancestor by the name of Mikhail Borovsky who's supposed prophetic visions prompted an era of unprecedented power and prosperity back in the 7th century.

Adults in the newest generation were either homeschooled -- particularly if they were thought to be weak and susceptible to outside influence -- or if aged between 11 and 18 between 1937 and 1950 -- attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, The Durmstrang Institute, or any number of magical schools in Eastern Europe. Those of age after 1950 are more likely to be homeschooled than not due to the scandal of The Borovsky Family Criminal Trial of 1952, following the Ministry Raid of their family homes in 1951 that resulted in both death and incarceration.

The few Borovsky families that remained in Britain after the scandal permitted their children to start attending Hogwarts again after around 1967 -- fifteen years after their initial downfall. While they continue to thrive in Russia, stronger than ever in fact, their reputation amongst the witches and wizards of Britain has been destroyed. Repair is not their mission. They have money. Family law remains paramount. Faith is more important than ever. But many fathers and sons, and even a few wives, are still locked up and unable to lead like God requires.

It is no longer power that the Borovsky want. What use is restoring their former glory? The Borovsky want revenge, a life for a life, starting with those in law and government who lead the charge against them. Their children within Hogwarts are to act as child spies, forming false friendships to learn about the families and inner dynamics of their enemies. This does not mean to say that your chosen student Borovsky is a good spy, but the expectation to utilise their cunning certainly weighs heavy on their shoulders.

LOOKING FOR  allies and adversaries, plots of all kinds.
There is room for all sorts of personalities in the Borovsky, so if you feel inspired but are unsure as to how you may fit in, please reach out!
