Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Cassian McCormick had always been a happy child. The youngest of four siblings, he enjoyed his position as the 'baby' of the family. His natural curiosity had him taking an interest in the lives of those around him from a young age. Many would have noticed his uncanny perception that stemmed from learned habits of people watching. As he grew older, the boy became more hands-on with his observations, viewing life as one big experiment with many answers waiting to be uncovered.
When his mother died, the wonder seemed to disappear from the overly inquisitive boy's eyes. His incessant questions of 'why' became more subtle inquiries into the ways of the world and how it all connected. With the blame for his mother's death being passed around, Cassian didn't know what to believe or who to hold accountable. His life grew all the more confusing when his sister Kora up and left them all behind.
It took years for him to reconcile her decision and lingering threads of abandonment remain despite their otherwise strong relationship.
At Hogwarts, Cassian found a kind of sanctuary in Ravenclaw Tower, where he spends hours wandering the library, writing short screenplays or composing music for said screenplays. Though he lacks the effortless charm of his eldest brother Jace or the quiet intensity of his sister Kora, Cassian has a quiet confidence in his own peculiar interests. Magical history and obscure charms fascinate him far more than Quidditch or duelling ever could.
Cassian has an uncanny ability to notice details others overlook is a talent that makes him a good listener and a perceptive friend. Though he isn’t one to seek the spotlight, those who know him best appreciate his passion for spouting obscure and often useless facts with the enthusiasm of a child in a candy store. When not indulging his love for the arts, he can be found bouncing around ideas in his head for his next experiment.

Godric Park.
Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.
Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.
It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.
"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.
Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.
Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby. "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.
"...Do you want to play?"
Roleplay Response:
"You!"
He was him. Dark brown eyes once hidden by thick eyelashes turned up to take in the little girl. She'd gotten herself into a bit of a fit by the looks of it. Did he want to play? Cassian gave the girl a once over before peering up to take in the group of kids engrossed in their own game. Ah, the troubles of youth, he thought, ignoring the mere thirteen years he himself had been on the earth. Exclusion under the guise of 'when you get older'.
There were many things one wasn't meant to know or do until they were older; things they were meant to accept as gospel because they couldn't possibly form opinions of their own. It was shit, in his humble estimation.
He shut the book he'd been reading; 'Arcane Flora: A Guide to the Hidden Plants of the Forgotten Forests'.
"Sure." His gaze moved to her discarded broom. "I won't be able to fly--neither will you, I reckon with a broom like that but..."
Cassian remembered his toy broom. More accurately, he remembered the way it began to gather dust after the incident that shook his entire family. The game had never been the same to him and the boy had turned inward, developing newer and more subdued interests. Interests this little girl was currently pulling him from.
No matter.
Having been the baby in need of comfort on so many occasions, the boy felt a certain kinship to the girl he'd met before.
"If you'd like, you could get on my back. I'll be your broom and we'll find our own snitch." For a short while anyway. After that, he would get back to his reading. The chapter on the lurking lilac was proving to be a particularly riveting read!
