CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Isabella (Bella) Shannon O'Conner
Gender: Female
Age: Eighteen
Blood Status: Pureblood.

Education:
Up until the time Bella attended Hogwarts, at age 11, she received instruction in magic and academic basics from her parents and their fellow dig site members, plus a little arts instruction from relatives when her family was able to escape from dig sites to visit.  At age 11, after her family relocated back to the United Kingdom, Bella was sorted into Ravenclaw, and for one term was Prefect and Quidditch Captain. After she graduated, in 1950, she has tried to call on her father's and relatives' connections in the Britsh Ministry of Magic to try and land an apprenticeship on a Department of Mysteries Field Team, while learning much more about ancient and modern day wizarding cultures and history, so that she can hopefully follow in her parents' footsteps, and become a great magical archaeologist and anthropologist.

Residence:
A small, but tasteful two bedroom townhouse that borders Godric Park, but also spends a lot of time in Connacht, Ireland where her family's seat is visiting relatives, and visiting her parents and younger siblings in a larger five bedroom house, also bordering Godric Park.

Occupation
Apprentice Magical Archaeologist & Anthropologist

Do you plan to have a connection to a particular existing place (for example: the Ministry, Shrieking Shack) or to take over an existing shop in need of new management?
Going to apply to the Ministry of Magic's Department of Mysteries as an apprentice if my application is accepted, and be one that volunteers constantly at the Children's Home.

Requested Magic Levels:
Adult characters have 32 starting levels to distribute across these four categories (less levels can be used if you so desire, but no more than 32). The number of levels on the lowest ability must be at least half of the highest ability.

If you want levels above the usual 32 total, or a significantly uneven distribution of starting levels, please fill out and submit the Special Request form here.

Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Isabella was named after her mother, great-great grandmother, and great grandmother.  It has always been very common in her family that children are named after relatives, and Bella was no exception.  She was the first child of Connelly and his wife Heather, and was born on September 1, 1932.

However, unlike most O’Conner Don members, she was not born at the family manor in Connacht.  Rather, she was born abroad in Egypt while her parents were working with a team of wizarding anthropologists as junior members at numerous dig sites.

Her parents both were always fascinated with ancient wizarding culture and history, and both knew each other long before their Hogwarts days, where both were Ravenclaws.  The two were drawn to one another with their common interests in history, art, anthropology, and architecture and dated one another while at Hogwarts even though Connelly was three years older.  When Connelly graduated, he first went to Italy for some further study in wizarding history, and kept in touch with his girlfriend Heather.

When she graduated, three years later, the two arranged to go to Cairo to further their studies, and it was there they got married.  Connelly’s family was not happy that he had decided to get wed away from the family manor, but they eventually forgave him when they saw how happy he was there, abroad with his young wife and their first child, Isabella. They remained there, in Egypt, just outside of Cairo all the way until 1938 when the threat of a world war seemed imminent. Even though the couple was based in Egypt, the two travelled to many different countries with their children where new dig sites were started, as requested by the Egyptian Wizarding government, and eventually Connelly became the leader of his own wizarding anthropology team.  His wife never left his side, and he made sure, whatever team he was assigned to, she was assigned with him because family is nearly everything, and he couldn’t bear the thought of being away from his wife and children.

As a result, Isabella and her two younger siblings (Heather and Connelly, Jr.) have been to places many people could only imagine visiting.  They have been to China, Japan, Egypt, Greece, and Italy, just to name a few.  Since there were very few kids their age at the dig sites, the three of them became incredibly close and always watched out for one another.  Loyalty to one another, knew no bounds.  The three have always been inseparable, but as a result of there being very few children their ages at various dig sites, the three of them suffer in socialization skills when it comes to people their age.  The three of them tried to befriend local children, muggle and wizarding ones alike, but their parents were always extremely protective of them, and leery of them doing so, so their contact with locals was always incredibly monitored.

Growing up, since the three of them were in numerous countries at so many different dig sites, Isabella, Heather, and Connelly were always tutored by their parents, or fellow dig site team members. They learned the basics, but a majority of their education was spent on Charms, History, Defensive Magic (you never knew what curses there might be lurking on various artifacts at dig sites), Potions, Herbology/Botany (so they knew what they could eat and use in case of ever getting separated from the team in the wilderness in an emergency situation), and Cultural Traditions of the locals. Very little time was ever spent in teaching them etiquette, math, the arts, and writing, so when you compare them to most fellow upper-class purebloods, the three of them appear to be almost roguish. Isabella, being the oldest, has always been a mother figure of sorts to her siblings, because her mother, was always away at dig sites with her husband.

When the threat of war was looming, Heather, Connelly, and their now three children gave up what they had in Egypt to come back to the United Kingdom, where they were closer to relatives, because anyone who knows the O’Conner Don sept knows that family is almost everything.  When they came back, Connelly decided to buy a moderate house right off of Godric Park from the proceeds he had received from selling their home just outside of Cairo and landed a job in the British Ministry of Magic’s Department of Mysteries where he was tasked with deciphering and counteracting curses of numerous ancient artifacts, so more about the ancient past can be discovered, and applied to modern-day society to help better the life of all wizarding folk.

Isabella graduated from Hogwarts last term,  1950, as a Ravenclaw, and at one point had earned the titles of Prefect and Quidditch Captain, but overwhelmed by all those extra responsibilities, did not retain them for her last couple of terms.  It was just too much for her, and though her parents were proud, Bella had never liked being in the spotlight in the first place, and lacked the leadership qualities to inspire, so it came to her as no surprise that those roles became filled by far more competent people.  And honestly, Bella preferred to be out of those roles because she could have more time to explore, read, study, and enjoy the outdoors.

As expected, she still suffers from a lack of socialization skills when it comes to people her age.  She has buried herself in her studies, both when she was at Hogwarts and now in her apprenticeship,  when not around her siblings because, like her parents, she always has loved learning new things.

She enjoyed playing Quidditch,  when at Hogwarts and volunteering in the Hospital Wing, but pretty much kept to herself. As expected, she never made a lot of friends, and suffered heartbreak from Adrian which consequently has made her even more leery and suspicious of most people.

Now that she has graduated, and has taken a likening to volunteering at the Hogsmeade Childrens’ Home as much as possible, she is often seen working alongside her Aunt Chastity when it comes to organizing fundraiser and community outreach endeavors to help the orphanage, but never takes an active leadership role in doing so. Bella is most definitely a follower, rather than a leader, and is focused on her further studies.

This is because she has a strong mothering instinct in her (which came from taking care of her younger siblings while abroad, and even though she comes from an elitist family, she feels badly for the orphans, who even though most of them came from muggle families has no parents.  She can’t imagine what that must be like, since her own family has always been everything to her. Consequently,  she wants to make the orphans feel better and that they aren’t necessarily alone even though they might think so.  She is compassionate, but at the same time loves to learn new things, and can’t imagine staying put in one place forever, like so many people in her family.  She has a strong wanderlust and enjoys reading, architecture, and history, both muggle and magical.

She currently lives in a small, tastefully decorated, 2-bedroom townhouse that borders Godric Park, and could easily upgrade if she so wanted to due to her family's affluence, but chooses not to because she travels a lot, so she doesn't see the need for a gigantic home when she is rarely there.  Plus, she much rather prefer to give money to charitable organizations to help those less fortunate to her than to flaunt her family's wealth like so many of her relatives do.

She currently isn't dating anyone, even though her relatives are constantly trying to get her to go on blind dates with sons of influential, powerful, pureblood families, much to her angst. Though she knows that eventually she will be expected to settle down, and raise a family with many children, Bella wants to explore, study history and many cultures, and travel the world, first.

Roleplay Response:

Option Two-

Snow and cold weather never mixed well with Bella O'Conner.  She had grown up in the hot, sweltering desert of Egypt for most of her life, courtesy of her parents' jobs and she never did too well when dealing with the cold. Okay, granted the freshly fallen snow glistening in the sunlight on rooftops and tree branches was pretty, but even so Bella loathed the cold winters in the United Kingdom. Consequently, she was rather grouchy even though her favorite holiday, Christmas was right around the corner, and had little patience for nonsense.

Oh and of course there was that anxiety of being around so many people at once. It made her quite uneasy and she was regretting her decision already to venture out in the God-awful cold and snow to hopefully get her Christmas shopping done in a timely manner for once. After all she had what seemed like a zillion people she had to buy gifts for, and her slight panic attacks amidst all these people weren't helping manners. As a result, to say that Bella's patience was already shot after only an hour or two of her shopping spree would be a massive understatement. Normally, Bella was pretty patient, but not today. And unfortunately for the elderly man who had just literally practically run her over, he was about to experience the wrath of Bella O'Conner, as a plethora of shopping bags dumped their contents onto the cold, wet, snow.

"Watch where you are going, you uncoordinated, pathetic, oaf! Are you bloody blind? Just look at what you did. This was a brand new jacket and dress, now, now they're ruined!"
Bella sniped at the elderly man as she tried her best to brush off the glitter and tinsel off her jacket and out of her hair, and save what gifts she could from the wetness.

She normally wasn't so contrary, or callous regarding simple mistakes, but she simply lost it with the man. If her relatives knew how she was acting right now, they'd kill her, but she just couldn't contain herself, today.  Between the crowds, weather, anxiety, and upcoming blind date her uncle Kynan had set up for her, a man ten years her senior, Bella just wasn't her normally compassionate and forgiving self, today.

Biography:
Isabella was named after her mother, great-great grandmother, and great grandmother.  It has always been very common in her family that children are named after relatives, and Bella was no exception.  She was the first child of Connelly and his wife Heather, and was born on September 1, 1932.

Connelly, Isabella’s father, is the youngest sibling of Irene, and as a result had no chance of ever becoming the Head of the O’Conner Don clan, so he was free to pursue what he loved the most-learning about magical history, magical anthropology, and magical architecture. He has always been interested in the muggle equivalencies of those subjects as well, but he was always very good at keeping that to himself, so he wouldn't become disowned by his family.

However, unlike most O’Conner Don members, Isabella was not born at the family manor in Connacht.

One day, when his children are older, his wife and him hope to go back to field work where they can uncover more about the past.  Both have missed the travel and excitement of the dig sites and unraveling riddles of the past, so ever since their return, Isabella’s parents have become stir-crazy, and it has also shown up in their children behaviors, too.  However, both know that right now, since all of their children are fast approaching Hogwarts age, or already there, it is imperative they stay put for now so that their children might be able to become more well-rounded in both mannerisms and education.

Isabella has been at Hogwarts for three terms now, but as expected, still suffers from a lack of socialization skills when it comes to children her age, and has not made a lot of friends. Isabella still harbors a fair amount of animosity toward her parents right now because of the fact they moved back to the United Kingdom, away from the thrills of various dig sites from around the world. Isabella isn't a huge fan of Hogwarts at the moment and wishes she could go back to Egypt for schooling because she is so fascinated with the long standing history and the mythology of ancient Egypt. At Hogwarts, besides Quidditch and being around her younger siblings, she has buried herself in her studies, even though she has been known to tune out during lectures occasionally, because she is unhappy there. The one good thing about her being at Hogwarts, in her mind, has been the fact that there are countless places to explore, to help keep Isabella’s wanderlust at bay for right now.  She has enjoyed playing Quidditch, and has taken a likening to volunteering at the Hogsmeade Childrens’ Home when she can during breaks.

This is because she has a strong mothering instinct in her for those she cares about (which came from taking care of her younger siblings while abroad), and even though she comes from an elitist family, she feels badly for the muggleborn orphans, who have no parents.  She can't imagine what that must be like, so she volunteers at the orphanage when she can.

Her family has always been everything to her, so she wants to make the orphans feel better and that they aren't necessarily alone even though they might think so.  It is more pity she feels for them rather than compassion, probably, but she doesn't care about that.  It makes Bella feel good, so it is worth it.

When the Hexenreich came to Hogwarts, honestly Bella paid little or no attention to them.  She never has considered the United Kingdom her home or any part of it, so honestly, she could care less who runs it as long as it doesn't make her parents upset.  And as of right now, neither one don't really care.  If anything, if things got really bad, it might mean that Isabella and her family will go back to Egypt, and never come back to the United Kingdom again, except for family reunions and events in Connacht, Ireland. And that would suit Bella, just fine.  Does she approve of the fact that a student got killed?  No, but it never has really impacted her much as she never paid much attention to that Birch girl in the first place.  She never had any reason to do so.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Up to you

Personality:
Bella, when it comes to people she likes and cares for, has a very strong, mothering, and protective instinct directed toward them.  However, the opposite is true if you end up on her bad side.  Typically, Bella tolerates a fair amount, but if you betray her in any way, or she can't seem to find a positive trait that you possess in her mind, she will do everything she can to make your life miserable without getting caught if possible.  The same thing would happen too if you hurt her siblings in any way, shape, or form.  Normally, Bella is typically pretty quiet, but when she gets nervous, she does have a tendency to ramble sometimes.

Bella has been known to tune out during lectures occasionally in classes. This happens even though she is determined to do well in them. But as expected, even with the best of intentions, her attempts are not always successful. She has been known to read a book that fascinates her during a lecture, or sketching or drawing the amazing things she has seen in her travels with her parents being both magical archaeologists instead of take notes if the topic doesn't fascinate her.

She is an intelligent girl, when she applies herself, and is mesmerized by ancient culture's mythologies, architecture, and accomplishments that she inherited from her parents.  She tries to see the best in everybody, when first meeting them, but as expected, is not always successful in doing so.  She loves traveling, exploring, and is fiercely competitive when she plays Quidditch. She has a fierce wanderlust that is hard for her to contain.  Bella is so used to traveling to exotic and far off places, being stuck at Hogwarts and in the United Kingdom is as dull as a complicated Transfiguration lecture that makes no sense to her.  Bella is determined to do well overall, but holds a grudge against her parents for moving to the United Kingdom from Egypt.

Bella can be the nicest person in the world if she trusts you, or if she considers you to be in possession of some positive and/or useful traits, but if not Bella can be extremely mean-spirited toward you. There is really no in-between with Bella, other than except she might completely ignore you if she doesn't think you are worth the time either way.  Honestly, she values you or some of your traits, and likes you because of them, or she doesn't. It isn't hard to tell which column you fall in.

She does want to have a family, and be a decent mother and wife, but at the same time Bella wants to have a successful and exciting career like her mother does, so she harbors a fair amount of ambition.  Bella is not one for elaborate parties and social events, but will go to them if it will help her to make connections so that she can have a decent career while still being a good mother and wife.

Appearance:
Bella has blue eyes that she inherited from her great grandmother Shannon, and long, wavy, blonde hair that she inherited from her mother.  Her hair reaches all the way down to the middle of her back, and is a stark difference to most O’Conner Don females with their brilliant red hair. She loves lacy and frilly things for the most part, and is very girl when it comes to her dress, even though more often than not, a dress or her stockings ends up with a few holes or rips from her explorations. Bella typically wears her hair down, but sometimes it is in a French braid with a ribbon.  Even though she spent most of her life growing up in Egypt, her skin is very fair, and can burn relatively easily if left unprotected.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Option 2

Bella liked animals.  Really she did, but their owners, well that was either a hit or a miss, and in the case of Hugh, it was the farthest miss you could possibly get.  That boy was as annoying as, well, the cold winters at Hogwarts.  He was a mess, plain and simple, and honestly as much as Bella tried, she didn't see a single positive trait in that boy.

He was incredibly irresponsible, especially with that rat of his, and honestly, Bella wondered if the boy possessed a brain at all, even though he was older than Bella.  If you couldn't keep track of a bloody rat, then you had no right to yield a wand.  Magic could be dangerous when not used by responsible people like her parents, and if you couldn't keep track of a stupid rat, then who knew what stupidity would emerge from your wand.

It wasn't THAT hard to take care of animal.  Just look at Bella and her siblings.  They had three dogs, one dog for each for Connelly, Heather, and herself, that helped keep them entertained while at dig sites and out of the way of her parents and their archaeological team, two cats, to help fend off mice that might want to raid food stashes while camping near dig sites, and an owl to keep in touch with relatives and friends while off at remote locations, and every single one of them was healthy as can be, and minded.  You just needed to take the time, and have enough patience to actually train and practice with them.  Apparently that Hugh kid never had enough sense to actually try that because that rat was ALWAYS all over the place.

So needless to say when Isabella saw the idiotic, though older student than her, frantically looking for that rat of his amidst a bed of flowers, even in spite of obvious allergies, she snickered.  You'd think that he'd have learned by now that the rat SHOULD be contained in a container or something if you couldn't get him to mind.

Apparently Hugh never had heard of common sense.  As a result, when Bella swore she saw the rat bolt off in the complete opposite direction of Hugh, she didn't say a word.  She was actually rather enjoying the disgusting spectacle the older boy was making of himself by wiping his nose with his sleeves.  It served him right for being such an idiot.  When Hugh apparently did finally notice Isabella, and tried to act all high and mighty by condemning staring, Bella rolled her eyes and replied coldly.

“It isn't polite to dig in a garden that doesn't belong to you like a rabid, untrained dog or hellhound either, genius. Or to wipe snot all over your sleeves. There is a thing called a handkerchief you know. That and have you ever heard of a summoning charm, super boy genius. For someone older than me, you are really lacking in the common sense category, aren't you?”

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
Ever since her family had moved to Godric Park, just before the war began, Isabella had not been pleased.  She missed the adventure and the travel that had come from travelling from dig site to dig site with her parents.  It was so incredible seeing how people adapted throughout the years, and she loved trying to solve the puzzles that came with each new artifact her parents brought home with them.  Here, in boring old Hogsmeade, there was nothing interesting like that. That and she never seemed to be able to hit it off with anyone that wasn’t her sibling about her age.  The only good thing about this place was going to the Orphanage and spending time with the orphans and seeing their eyes light up when she told them of far off places and the adventures her and her siblings had there.  She came from an elitist family, but her parents never preached it.  Her relatives on the other hand, well that was a different story.  She hated hearing about the superiority of pureblooded folk in their closed-minded lectures.  It was all built on a lie, because her parents and siblings had come across incredible finds that were left behind by muggles and magical folk alike.  However, like her parents, she never said a word about it to any of them and just tuned out their lectures while appearing to listen.

Today, Isabella was happy to be free of all that nonsense.  Her next visit to her relatives wouldn’t come until Christmas, thank Merlin and the weather was actually beautiful, so she decided to go for a walk, hoping beyond hope to find some sort of interesting artifact along the way.  Unfortunately, after almost an hour, no such artifact appeared so instead, she just decided to lay on the grass and sketch from memory the amazing pyramids she had seen back in Egypt, filled to the gills with ancient statues of ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses and riches beyond belief, not to mention mummies, too.  It would be a good prop to use when she went back to the orphanage and told them more stories. She looked up occasionally, and saw the girl on a fake broomstick trying to fly on it, and she chuckled ever slightly.  She reminded her of her younger sister Heather when she was about that age trying to coax a play broomstick, very similar to the one that girl had now to fly.

Speaking of her sister, Isabella wondered where she had wandered off to bright and early that morning without her or Connelly.  Probably up to some sort of mischief most likely, but oh well.  Isabella loved her sister dearly and would do anything for her, but as she approached Hogwarts age, she was becoming more independent which both worried and made Isabella uncomfortable.  She didn’t want the three of them to lose that special bond they had, one where they always did everything together, and always looked out for one another.  As she contemplated that, she noticed that by now the girl had been deposited safely on the ground and was not happy about it.

Then the girl must have spotted Isabella and zoned in on her and barked at her asking her to play.  That was incredibly unexpected, and Isabella wasn’t sure why the girl had decided to take out her frustration on Isabella.  Isabella looked at the girl somewhat crossly and said matter-of-factly “I will if you use better manners.”

Isabella was normally quite patient, and kindhearted, but she never did take kindly to rudeness.

“Try asking again, in a nicer way, and we’ll see,” Isabella said in a tone motherly, as her mothering instinct kicked in.
