Biography: (300 words minimum.)
An Heiress, they called her. Drowning her in pretty fabrics and sparkling diamonds from birth, Eleanor Briar had it all. And some children would have eaten it all up and held their hands out for more. But not Nel. She had dreams beyond the golden bars that kept her trapped.
She took advantage of them, sure. All of the special tutoring and lessons were accepted gratefully. She knew they would come in handy for her one day.

When her parents' patience with her expired.

So she learned as much as she could, developing her own passions and skills along the way. And it didn’t take Eleanor’s parents long. As the only daughter, she was expected certain things from her family. One of them was to be courted by a Pureblood boy hailing from another well-off family. Expanding their empire or whatever they wanted to call it.

Eleanor allowed Franklin Ivy to court her just to enjoy the comforts of her home for a little longer. But the summer she turned 16, he proposed to her. Her refusal seemed to be nothing but a bit of a speed bump. Her parents assured the Ivys’ that she was just young, she would change her mind. So Nelly did what she did best. She messed things up royally. The families hosted a party to announce the engagement. And Eleanor took the opportunity to set the Ivy’s giant over-the-top Christmas tree on fire.

Needless to say, it wasn’t the only thing up in flames. The relationship was over. The Briars were able to hold off some of the shame by bribing the Ivys. But they’d had enough. At the age of 16, Nel was disowned and sent to spend the remainder of her youth in the Hogsmeade Children’s Home. After Hogwarts, she continued her education at a muggle University where she furthered her education all while working and doing odd jobs to survive.

It was a mess of a life. But at least it was hers.

Roleplay:
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character:

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
Eleanor was running late. She had a promising interview at one of the bookshops in town. A dream job, really. Surrounded by books instead of leery eyed men at the bar with too much time on their hands. She’d be able to get some schoolwork done on the downtown and everything.

If only she could get past the crowd of people.

And then there was an even bigger hold up. All in the form of a women hollering for help. No one was helping her. Naturally. Nelly sighed and took a quick glance at her watch. Maybe the book shop job wasn’t meant to be.

“Hold on, hold on,” Eleanor murmured, shifting through the crowd towards the woman in distress. When she reached her, she had to stop herself from rolling her eyes at her. All this for a broken heel? Honestly… But she was already there, she might as well help.

“Alright just hold still.”
