Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Born the middle son of the family patriarch Maldwyn, Cadogan was destined to have to work hard and relentlessly for his position in the family. Constantly overshadowed by the natural talent of his elder sibling and the impractical yet talented younger sibling, Gwythr.

By the age of 11, the rivalry between the three sons had metastasized into something putrid and toxic. Even within the same home out-doing one another was expected. In learning, sports, spells or other performances awards were given to those who did the best. After several years of being placed unfortunately second to either sibling Cadogan grew untroubled with his position. Accepting it for what it were.

His mind was sharp and without the normal concern for succession in his homestead he pursued his love of history, law, divination and other worthy talents. His first ambition to become a hunter of dark wizards and witches slashed quickly from its tethers as his talents for charms were less than useful. However what he did find simple was the writ of law. The way he could read between the complexities of rules written for society and find within ways to subdue his foes and rivals.  It was in this activity he met his future wife. A pureblooded witch by the name of Heledd Scrivner.

By the age of sixteen he had withdrawn himself from school actives and extra cirriculars involving sports and focused solely on academia. In his year he set up a successful 'order of young wizards for legal justice'.  The order consisted mainly of Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor students and ran successfully until his graduation.
A year after graduating he began to work as a court scribe and account taker for the ministry of justice. He took as many shifts as possible and often aligned himself with working the more dangerous cases than the ones around fraud. It was only around his 6th year at the ministry did he make his real mark.

Shortly after accepting his first job he secured his marriage to Heledd. A year after their first child was born, Morgause.

On June 4th, 1900 Cadogan discovered a fault in testimony and crime. With the information he took to his superior he was offered a more serious position within the office. A junior lawyer.

In his home life,  legal children came between cases, he rarely had time for his work let alone his family as he climbed the work ladder. He had six children in total with his partner before she died at the age of forty seven. His final two children - twins being the cause of his wife's death.

Home and Work were completely separate fields. The complex web of relationships weaved by each member of the family were enough to confuse most. The string of lovers and consorts Cadogan obtained in his career often remained hushed whispers at home.

Success came naturally for a man who could retain facts and memorize magnitudes of information at once. Case after case he either won or did well in defending those who were not as innocent as their claims portrayed. His children regarded him as a figure of authority yet not someone to adore. Often cold towards them and bargaining the burden of raising his children to his wife and family servants.  Though he would not say it, Cadfael was his favorite.

By the age of forty he had obtained the respect of many of his own peers and taken a seat of judge that his own mentor once held. He held this seat for fourteen years before he too retired and pursued a more advisory position. Without a goal to pursue Cadogan devoted himself more to modernising the court systems.
Cadogan has since published a handbook most legal students keep on them during introductory study. 'Testimony and Truth: The Pursuit of law'. His second book relating more in kind to younger audiences. 'Magical law: A history'.

While still only an advisory, Cadogan is now an active force in the political world as a fundraiser organizer. He supports more middle-ground progressive candidates.

Roleplay:
Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:

Time.

Time passed always at the same pace. Relativity was only in regards to how much one was actively concentrating on the concept itself. Cadogan was of the type which always kept a track of the passing minutes. One pause, one stutter was often the tellings of a liar.

A cold winters day were a perfect excuse to meet with one of his former colleagues. A jaded person with little political drive in recent times. This jaded man encompassed everything one imaged when they envisioned 'shrewd'. Fortunately for him. By Cadogan was used to the cold.

Cadogan's boots clicked lightly on the iced stones beneath as he tucked himself cleanly around a corner and pursued the location he was advised. The only obstacle being something he had not anticipated. A small delay in his agenda.

A man with a busy expression apologized to him profusely. Cagodan's gaze spread like the chill in the air. His patience was being tested. He stood firmly where he was. For all anyone could tell he owned this street.

"I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He were as squirrely as one would guess a first yar student. He pondered if this boy had any sort of backbone at all. Most without ended up in such positions as himself. The lackeys of those who knew how to work the system.

"Move."" It wasn't a polite request. Venom had laced every word. He would not have his plans ruined by some plebeian cart-pusher. But there would be no way he would move before this boy. That was something for common folk. Something for anyone but Cadogan.

Christmas or not, business would always trump happiness.  Gloved hands dusted off the white powder from his charcoal coat. The creases in his leather gloves matching the furrow that grew on his wrinkled brow.

As long as divination and charms are the highest its fine. I don't think he'll be using too much magic. More of a political character.
