Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Solanine Serena Joliette de la Roche

Birthday: June 7th, 1955

Hometown: London, England

Bloodline:
Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): 5th

Biography:
Accident. Calamity. Mishap. Disaster. All words that could describe the moment that her mother, Margaux Hartley, found out she was pregnant once more. After her third child that was supposed to be it, but the universe must have had a different plan because on June 7, 1955 a baby girl was born. Unironically named after a type of poison. Her mother was anything but subtle.

There really wasn’t anything special about the day she was born. There wasn’t a storm or anything really. Just a mediocre day. It was perfectly calm -unlike the baby that had been born. Always crying and soon that crying turned to screaming as she grew. The loudest of her siblings. Seemingly always causing embarrassment to the family. She didn’t really care though.

Growing up she didn’t really have to ask for much. She had her “cousins” and pretty much any toy she could want for. It was a great childhood despite the expectations. She was the daughter of Margaux de la Roche. How could there not be expectations? So she had two sides of her. On one side was her true self -carefree, messy, fearless. On the other side was the side that was expected -controlled, polished, polite. It wasn’t rough by any means, but sometimes she wished that her parents would just accept her.

During her first four years at Hogwarts she has excelled at Charms and dueling, even making it to the finals of the tournament during her second term. With the achievements though there were also downfalls. During her second year, after her parents divorced, her world came crashing down around her. After the man she thought was her father refused to see her it came out that she wasn't even his at all. At this time her relationship with her mother became strained due to lie after lie that her mother told when it came to her father, so Cherry, Moony, and herself took it into their own hands and found her real dad -turns out he wasn't dead after all.

Her third and fourth years were much less exciting unless you count first kisses and first parties as less exciting.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Roleplay Response:

Sola was finally free! Well not exactly free -she still had one more class. That class though was perfectly skippable. Plus the weather would soon turn rotten and the pitiful gardens would turn grey. She needed to be in them as much as possible while she still could, so she ran!

Down into the dungeons for a quick costume change then back up into the daylight to live out the story of her life. She would never spend any more time than needed in that skirt. Why did the boys get to wear pants and the girls have to wear stupid skirts anyways? Did they not think that girls deserved to run, jump, and play just like the boys? It was archaic. Well the skirts were cuter at least.

When she got up into the castle and then back out into the sun she paused and let the sun hit her face. The small freckles on her face absorbed the sun’s rays while they still could. The sunlight felt good as she continued walking.

She didn’t really know why she was drawn to the gardens. Maybe it was because her mother had always kept gardens and greenhouses. Nonetheless the gardens at the castle reminded her of home, though she would never admit it.

Once she stepped foot into the gardens something seemed a bit off. Maybe it was from the yelling. Maybe she should have turned the opposite way and gone on with her business, but that just wasn’t her. Plus what if the person needed help. With the smile on her face she stepped into the area where she heard the yelling coming from and immediately stopped as the boy sneezed. A look of distaste accidentally spreading across her face as the boy used his robe as a tissue. Boys were officially disgusting.

"Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Sola blinked for a moment before her smile returned to her face. “Staring isn’t half as bad as what you did to those poor flowers.” She teased. “I heard you yelling and just wanted to see if you needed some help.”

Did she actually want to help him now? Not really, but she did decide that it was best not to mind her own business so she had to accept the consequences.

Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Sebastian Hartley II

Birthday: February 14, 1950

Hometown: London, England

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination

Year (pick two): 6th (first choice), 7th

Biography:
Perfect. That was the word his parents used when he was born. A perfect pureblood baby boy that was meant to inherit the legacy his ancestors had laid out before him. His parents were Sebastian and Margaux Hartley. A pureblooded power couple that took the world by storm, especially his mother, a fashion designer and businesswoman. Expectations was something he learned from a young age. Sit up taller, talk when addressed, make good marks on your studies. All things he took quite seriously.

The only years, before going to wizarding school, that weren't spent with tutors were the years he had spent with his mother at Hogwarts. It was probably the best years of his childhood. He was away from the demons, he wasn’t subjected to 8 hours of tutoring everyday, and he could explore the most magical place to a child his age at the time with his best friend, Lily McCormick.

After his time at the castle he spent his years being groomed to be the perfect gentleman. His life consisted of etiquette classes, french classes, history lessons, dance lessons, and much more. Even lessons on how to dress, but that one could have been his mother’s idea.

Other than that he didn’t mind his life. His parents toted him to parties where he got to experience the luxuries that life had to offer. The only thing that he didn’t enjoy was the fact that this life was brought to him by his mother working and her work meant that they had to move to France permanently for a bit, right around the time he would’ve been going to Hogwarts. Missing out on going to school with his best friend.

His time at Beauxbatons was fun though! He played quidditch, made lifelong friends, and even made some enemies. When the news came that his Serena and Bailey were getting a divorce his mother made the executive decision to have Bash finish out his schooling at Beauxbatons before moving back, but with his littlest sister starting school soon he persuaded their mother to move them back sooner.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Gryffindor or Hufflepuff

Personality:

Bash’s personality is a bit stuck up, but he’s always there for the people he loves. Being the first born though he likes to take on responsibility for his three younger sisters. Shouldering the responsibility for his friends as well. He can be incredibly sweet though and is a bit of a romantic. However he can be quite the hothead when someone gets on his bad side, which is rare, but it still happens. He has a rebellious streak though, but he doesn’t really let that side of himself be seen often.

Appearance:
Tall and lanky. Bash stands roughly at 6’3”. He has shoulder length brown hair that he likes to pull up into a bun sometimes. He can be found wearing skinny jeans, tucked in shirts, and boots paired with a leather jacket in the winter. A smirk adorns his face most of the time, unless he’s deep in thought.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Roleplay Response:
A loud sigh echoed through his chest as he walked through the dungeons. Where had Lily told him to meet her again? Squinting, he checked his watch. He was late. Well know his friend she was late too. Maybe he was in the right place. Or maybe he was lost.

Whatever. He was going back to where he belonged, which was not this part of the dungeons. Plus it was all dingy and cold. They had to have the money to make it not so drab. Maybe they enjoyed the students living in these conditions. It was entirely inappropriate. He shrugged it off though. It's not like he would be there for long anyways. He was 16 and wouldn't have to worry about it much longer. As for his sisters, he felt sorry for them.

"H-h-hello?"

Mid-thought, Bas stopped in his tracks. “Hello?” He said a bit low. Was he hearing things now? Shaking his head he kept walking.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

A smile cracked on his face as the voice of the girl became clearer. Rounding the corner he saw her then. He had never heard of a ghost named Emma Birch that roamed the dungeons. “I think someone’s playing a trick on you.” He laughed, hoping not to scare the poor girl. He heard of older years playing tricks on the younger years. It happened everywhere though so it probably wasn't that bad. "If I were you I'd get back at them."

House Request: Slytherin, (just not Ravenclaw please)

Personality:

The first thing people will notice about Sola is that she can be kind of mean, although she does it out of love. She’s really only nice when she wants something from someone. She doesn’t really understand people’s feelings, but if she hurts them she tends to feel bad. Her fascination with the muggle world leads her to be curious. Some might say obsessed.

She tends to have a smile on her face even on her bad days. Growing up showing negative emotion was treated as a weakness. Hartleys always keep a cool demeanor at least according to her mom. Although when she finds herself alone on her bad days she likes to scream at the top of her lungs. It definitely helps get the feelings out. After that she’s pretty much all better.

Even though she has trouble letting people in on her bad days she has a knack for getting into trouble with whoever she can talk into some mischievous activities. She believes that in order to have good stories you have to make some bad choices… Or at least that’s what she gathered from her Aunt Serena’s stories about her and her mom.

Appearance:

Sola’s light brown, wavy hair reaches about halfway down her back. The tights she wears under her uniform skirt are known to have rips up and down them much to her mother’s dismay. She’s pretty scrawny, but she makes up for it in attitude. The smile she carries around rarely leaves her face. Out of uniform she can be found wearing her brother’s old worn out, ripped jeans and flannels from when he was around her age. Although she can pull off a dress when needed. The faintest of freckles speckle her nose during the summer, but tend to fade soon after the school year starts.
