Hi Erin!

This looks great so far, but I did have one question about part of the bio.

Quote
After the fall of Hexenreich, though Erin supposed she’d never know how her mum knew that they fell, came a prophet subscription– their only tether to the Magical world as Erin was further forboden to go into Diagon Alley alone and strongly encouraged (read: banned) from talking to any wizards or witches lest they were pro-Hexenreich, even other teenagers.

This very much could be my own misunderstanding of what's actually being said, but I thought I'd ask anyhow so we can get approving this underway. Is this meant to be referencing a time far after the fall of the Hexenreich, or in the immediate aftermath of the fall? I just want to make sure everything lines up dates wise with her age.

If you could just respond here in this thread that'd be great, no need to repost the app itself. Thank you!

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character name: Timothy Winchester

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: Edmund Whiteclaw

Character age: 23

Character education: Hogwarts | Ravenclaw | Class of '56

Strength and weaknesses (details please):

Tim Winchester's mind works in a way that can both be his greatest strength and his greatest weakness. Being the bookworm he is, Tim's thought process is often deep and inquisitive. He doesn't take things at face value and instead, tries to uncover the things which rest beneath the surface. This allows him to understand ideas and emotions on a much deeper level and has been the source of most of his connections. However, not everything has a deeper meaning and Tim can find himself thinking too hard about things that don't require much thought at all. Though this problem doesn't often rear it's head, it can affect Tim deeply as he wonders if there's something that he missed far after a conversation has ended.

This inquisitive mind however paves the way for a great many other strengths that Tim uses to his favor. He is a deeply compassionate person and believes strongly in leading with the heart just as much as with the mind. This allows him considerable empathy and patience with others, something that makes it nearly impossible for one to find themselves in an argumentative exchange with him. His compassion and empathy for others also allows him to forge deep and meaningful connections with people which assist in comfort, but also assist him in communicating in a more emotionally and thoughtfully complex way than most would imagine.

This compassion and empathy can however work against him if he isn't careful. He wants to see the best in people, even when someone may not be carrying the best of intentions with them at the time. In his younger years, this led him to quick forgiveness when forgiveness was not earned. As an adult, he is more conscious of the fact that not everyone is deserving of the benefit of the doubt, but he still likes to try and see good in bad behavior when he can. This can be something that's exploited, and a great few have tried to, but as his thought process developed to be what it is, he notices these intentions far sooner than he once did.

A weakness not of personality, but of skill, is Tim's inability to master the art of potion making. His mother is quite skilled at it but it's a trade Tim never was able to grasp. Not for lack of trying, however. He is willing to try and apply himself to anything for as long as he can stand to try it. In most cases, he ends up mastering what he sets out to. But things like Divination and potions just never found their way into his muscle memory. He is however rather proficient in Charms and Transfiguration, two subjects he worked diligently at in school and continued to refine once leaving the castle.

Tim also carries with him an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. His home is filled to the brim with books of all sorts of subjects ranging from things as simple as history and muggle medicine to the complex subjects of ancient philosophy and dead languages. This desire for knowledge has gained Tim an exceptional level of book education. A simple conversation with him makes clear the width and depth of his knowledge. He's carried a desire to share the things he's learned with others since he was young and is often at his happiest sharing ideas with other excited parties.

Physical description:

The most striking thing about Tim is his height. Standing at a tall six foot three, Tim's height appears to be even greater due to his relatively slender frame. It wasn't always this way. No, for his first three years at Hogwarts he was certain he'd buck the family tradition and remain in his five foot five range. However, a fourth year growth spurt that soon extended to a fifth, sixth, seventh, and beyond year growth spurt left him joining the ranks of the other Winchester men at above the six foot mark. Though Tim is tall, he isn't a dominating presence.

He just may be a little more visible in a crowd than others.

Atop is head is a mop of dark brown (borderline black depending on the light) hair which is usually in a fairly messy state. He doesn't mean for it to be, but there's a great many more pressing things in the world than keeping one's hair combed. Tim's eyes are a dark brown as well, notable for a few speckles here and there. His mother described the speckles as being a little universe in his eyes, something Tim proudly repeats to any who mention it.

His face is gentle and boyish. It appears that he hasn't aged beyond sixteen in the face, something that he sometimes is self conscious of. His smile is award winning and bright, matched only in impressiveness by it's innocence and warmth. Tim carries himself with gentle air as well. Walking confidently, but weightlessly, he almost glides from place to place. His movements, while gentle as mentioned, are also very purposeful and calculated, almost as if he refuses to make a move that isn't necessary.

Tim's choice of style is a bit off the beaten path when compared to others. He is never seen without a pair of black shoes on his feet, shined weekly. On the rest of his body are dressier leaning clothes at all times. Not keen on more casual wear, his most common choices are skinny black pants with a nice shirt and a belt. For more formal occasions, he enjoys bringing out his grandfather's maroon suit but he only wears this on occasions he believe call for it.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.):

Anyone who's ever met Tim Winchester can tell you he is one of the kindest, gentlest souls that you ever can encounter. He likes to say he took the best bits of both of his parents, mixed them together, and sprinkled some of his own inflections upon those bits to create the man that stands before everyone. His kindness is unwavering, even in the face of unkindness. He isn't quick to anger and believes all situations can, and should, be solved with level headedness and a willingness to put forth respect.

Tim is also a notable bookworm. His life revolves around the printed word and this has worked to build a man who's quite unlike almost anyone else. He looks at the life he and everyone around him has been blessed with as something full of hidden meaning and mystery. He observes his surroundings and the people in it from an analytical standpoint just as much as he does an interpersonal standpoint. His mind often works faster than he can speak, but that doesn't stop him from speaking quickly anyway.

Tim is easily pleased and none too fussy. He holds a fondness for simple pleasures over things of more gaudy extravagance. He is perfectly content to curl up by the fire, snack, and read. This is where his gentle demeanor comes from, as well as his compassion. His compassion is legendary among those that know him. He goes out of his way to assist when assistance is needed and makes a point to make everyone who comes into contact with him feel welcomed, feel as though they matter, and feel as though they're being heard and understood.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?:

Hogwarts was a dream in the waking world for Tim. A castle filled with such a rich, diverse, and beautiful history, brimming with stories and opportunities to broaden one's horizons was something he could only look upon with wonder. He got to know every inch of the castle in his time and along the way made a point to learn all he could learn about everything available to him there.

He decided when he was a wee second year that teaching is what he wanted to do with his life. He saw even then teaching as the greatest opportunity for learning available to anyone who would want it. Being in that environment, learning things from the students that sit before as you share with them the things that you have already learned struck him as beautiful. The push and pull, give and take, symbiotic relationship that exists between student and teacher is to Tim almost sacred. As a student, he valued this connection and felt that more than anything else, a connection between the student and the teacher is what best fostered learning.

With all of the information he's collected over the years, Tim wants nothing than to share it with the students of Hogwarts. His dreams have long revolved around an exchange of ideas with like minded or at least interested individuals. Sharing what he's learned in exchange for even more information strikes him as perfection. The cycle can genuinely never be broken, there will always be something to teach and something to learn in return.

Tim would like to think that by teaching, he would be doing his part to better the world around him. Helping students to broaden their minds, open their eyes and ears to things beyond what they imagined ever possible is something Tim has idolized for years. He understands the importance of education and wants nothing more than to make that journey and go on an adventure with those who choose to listen to him.

Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):

True to the spontaneity that ran rampant within his family, George Winchester proposed to his girlfriend Dorothy out of the blue at dinner one evening. True to the romantic nature that ran rampant within her family, she lovingly accepted and the two were married before the Christmas holidays came knocking in 1936. Though they were both comfortably in their prime (George was all of 24 and Dorothy was all of 22), the two immediately began to dream of a full house of children of their own. Dorothy was particularly fond of the idea having spent her younger days caring for her younger siblings. George had dreamed of having a boy to call his own from a young age as well, having grown up loving to hear stories of his father's youth, something he longed to pass down to a child of his own.

The couple was elated to discover their dreams of a family were going to come true when Dorothy proudly announced she was pregnant in May of 1937. Though their excitement never dwindled, pregnancy was far from easy on Dorothy. Her small stature made carrying the child something of a chore as the weeks ticked by and the illnesses that are commonly associated with pregnancy plagued her, untouched by the magical efforts of her mother and George's mother to ease the symptoms. But no matter the pain she felt, she never let a smile leave her face. The patience of both George and Dorothy were paid off on January 9, 1938, when their healthy and happy child Timothy was born.

George and Dorothy were elated to finally have a child of their own and the love they had for him consoled them through the advice of the healers at St. Mungo's that Dorothy refrain from having another child or risk her health. Though they had wanted a great many little ones running around, Timothy kept them busy. A very curious child, in the time before he could speak, Timothy would work to become acquainted with his surroundings via touch and observation. When he could speak, his favorite words were "why" and "how". Always longing to know why things were as they were, why things happened, where things came from, what things did, Timothy seemed to be constantly at his mother or father's ankles to learn more about his world. And though the questions were constant, both George and Dorothy were happy to oblige and answer as many questions as Timothy could throw at them.

As he grew, Timothy developed a particularly close relationship with his father. George delighted in telling Timothy stories of his days growing up not too far from where they currently lived, as well as the stories told to him by his father. That's not to say that Timothy wasn't also close to his mother, as he very much was. Dorothy taught Timothy how to cook all manner of things and, much to the joy of them both, how to dance like nobody was watching. Timothy loved his days at home with his parents in Alfriston, so much so that he didn't take much notice that their home was small or that he didn't often get new clothes. In fact, he was almost completely unaware that his family wasn't wealthy until his school days arrived.

Timothy received his Hogwarts letter promptly and he found himself looking forward to his time at school. He had all of the things he needed, not noticing the looks of nervousness on his mother's face any time a new supply was rung up. When he was at school, he noticed that his things were not the nicest nor the newest, but he didn't mind. For a mind that was obsessed with knowing "why" and "how", Hogwarts was a paradise. It seemed that every minute of every day was spent learning something new and exciting. In the summers, he'd return to his wonderful life in Alfriston. George and Dorothy would ask if he was making friends, and Timothy would happily respond with an emphatic yes. They would ask if he was ever teased for his lower quality supplies and he honestly said he didn't notice.

Those sorts of things weren't particularly important to Timothy. Through his skills of observation, Timothy recognized that his parents wanted to make a life for themselves, be self sufficient. He knew that his paternal and maternal grandparents were well off finically, one look at their homes could indicate that, but George and Dorothy didn't want to be handed anything in life and as he grew up, Timothy didn't either. He wanted everything he owned to be something he earned and that never disappeared.

In school, Timothy excelled in all of his classes but he was particularly talented in Transfiguration and his favorite class, History of Magic. Around his fifth year, Timothy became incredibly interested in magical law and spent his free time reading up on the subject and the various laws and decrees that existed in the world. Timothy graduated with his class in 1956 and happily returned home to Alfriston to take some time off before pursuing his dreams.

Timothy has a desire to do all manner of things be it become a historian, work at the Ministry for Magic, secure a job in the legal system, or take up teaching at Hogwarts. At the moment, he's not done much but get his own home in Alfriston not too far from his family, however he believes his future comes more and more into focus every day and he's more than ready to take the big steps needed to start the rest of his life.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)

It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.

In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.

A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.

Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.

She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."

Explain yourself was what her face said.

Roleplay Response:

Tim didn't make a habit of being late, but every once in awhile time became a rather elusive thing.

Tim had sprung from his bed that morning at around nine, later than he'd planned but early enough to prepare himself. Today was the day that he'd been waiting for since he last saw the majestic castle on the final day of his seventh year. It was the day where he would finally get the chance to secure the one thing he'd wanted more than anything else in the world: a teaching position at Hogwarts.

He showered, making a point to tame the wild hair upon his head, and dressed in his best. His grandfather's old maroon suit was perfect for the occasion he felt, so he retrieved it from the wardrobe and assembled it over his frame carefully. Standing in the mirror, he gave himself a once, twice, three times over and decided he was ready.

Physically at least.

As he sat at his kitchen table and delicately nibbled on some fruit (with a napkin tucked into his collar, a napkin placed upon his lap, and a napkin propped against his stomach to prevent stains), he played different scenarios in his mind. A faceless and nameless headmistress sat across from him asking all sorts of questions and Tim did his best to mentally answer to the best of his ability.

When he'd finished his breakfast, and began cleaning up, this continued. His mental readiness was the most vital aspect of this process and he wanted to be sure he was ready. Sooner rather than later, one o'clock around. Deciding to make a trip to Hogsmeade before taking the walk up to the castle, Tim approached his fireplace and made a swipe at some floo powder, but none met his fingers when he dipped them into the pot.

He was fresh out.

Looking nervously at the time, he shuffled himself quickly out the door, locking the door behind him. He ran forward, not bothering to open his knee high front gate but instead bounding over it. Taking off in a sprint up the high street just beyond his cozy neighborhood, he arrived at a home with a red door painted with a golden W in the center. He knocked in a hurry and the door swung open to reveal Dorothy Winchester, confused by the commotion.

With a brief, jumbled, almost slurred "Morning mum", Tim bounded into the home and made a move for the fireplace. Out of breath and with a slight smile he said "I'll explain later" before stepping into the grate. Throwing the powder down at his feet, he exclaimed "Hogsmeade station". In a flash he was there. Walking forward through the new grate and into the simple room that acted as the inside waiting area for the station, Tim stole a glance at the clock.

It was now one thirty and Tim had just half an hour to make it up to the castle. Taking off once more in a sprint. Up the winding hill, through the bits of woods, and onto the grounds he came. The castle sat looming above him in the afternoon sun. In the distance, it's clock tower pronounced the changing of the hour. Summoning his energy, Tim continued to sprint forward.

He sprinted all the way up, through the entrance hall, down the corridor, and arrived to the statue that guarded the headmistress's office. He rode the stairs up and entered the office quickly. Catching his breath, he smiled at the headmistress who looked none too pleased with him.

"You are late."

Nodding, Tim acknowledged the truth. "I am, Headmistress and I must say how sorry I am. I seem to've run out of floo powder so I had to quickly find a solution and once I did, time had...slipped away. It's not a habit, that I can assure you."

Tim extended his hand. "I don't know if you remember me, m'am. Timothy Winchester. Ravenclaw '56."[/color]

Birth Name: Peter Winchester
Second Name: Your Choice!
Age: 14
Birthday: January 4, 1949
Face Claim: Louis Partridge

A Brief History; or the Story in Part
The story of this young man is as mysterious as it is tragic. Born in January 1949 to doting parents George and Dorothy Winchester, Peter was welcomed into his home with open arms. His brother Tim, 11 years his elder, was happy to have him though the gap in their ages made it difficult for him to take more than a passing role in the baby’s life, focused far more on beginning his studies than sliding into the role of an older brother. The Winchester parents knew that when Tim was a bit older he’d rise to the occasion of being a big brother but for the time being didn’t thrust the full weight of responsibility onto him all that often.

The Winchesters were far from living in poverty, but they were also far from living lavishly. Peter had been rather unexpected, so George and Dorothy were having to think on the fly when it came to their budgeting in order to keep their boys' lives moving as normal. One afternoon, in need of a break, George entrusted Tim to take his baby brother out for some fresh air. Tim, who was leaving for Hogwarts in a matter of months, obliged but upon arrival to the park, became more interested in playing that watching his brother. The then 5 month old Peter was left unwatched in his pram as Tim played with the kids at the park. As baby Peter slept and Tim played, a shady looking man approached the young Peter and swiped the sleeping infant from his pram. When Tim returned from his game to find the pram empty, he rushed home with the horrible news.

George, Dorothy, and the authorities spent nearly three months attempting to track down Peter but to no avail. George and Dorothy, looked upon their remaining child and saw the guilt rising in him. He was days away from getting on the Hogwarts Express for the first time and they worried deeply for him, knowing that he would never forgive himself for this. They made the decision to obliviate Peter from Tim's memory entirely and sent him off to school as a normal 11 year old while they were left to pick up the pieces of their now fractured family.

Peter meanwhile was living an entirely new life. The man who had taken Peter took him all the way Denmark to the man’s family. The man, Kent Rowardy, and his wife Ariel had just lost their own son to an unexplained illness. While visiting his parents in England, Kent was passing through the park and saw the unattended Peter. In desperation and a moment of weakness he swiped Peter. Peter grew up unaware of the truth.

Until a letter arrived to him from a woman named Rose Winchester...a woman who claimed to be his true grandmother. Attached was a photograph of George, Dorothy, and Tim.

Work to Be Done; or The Story in Between
The story of the boy (who’s name was of course changed by his new parents) growing up in Denmark, what happened immediately after receiving the letter, and the journey back to England to begin looking for his real family.

Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Edmund Whiteclaw

Birthday: 15 June 1947

Hometown: Tinworth, Cornwall, England

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one):Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): 3rd or 4th

Biography:
The Whiteclaw family had been rather unusual for several years by the time Edmund came along, but it was all (mostly) by choice.

Percy Whiteclaw, defying the wishes of his father to marry someone of the house of Hufflepuff, the family tradition, married the charismatic Gryffindor Anne Cash.  Anne and Percy had three children: Alfred, Bennett, and Claire. All three children were remarkably like their parents when young, but each grew to be considerably different as they grew older, especially young Bennett. In his fourth year, Bennett saw around him many prejudices against anything concerning muggles and he couldn't say he agreed. He did his studying up on the seemingly strange people and thought to himself that there wasn't much of a difference between him and they other than his ability to perform magic.

Naturally, this thinking was unpopular.

However, Bennett's family supported their son's position. Percy lovingly told him that in all the experience he'd had with the Muggles that live around Tinworth, they'd been rather pleasant. But he also warned his son that there were many people in their communities that wouldn't agree with supporting muggles in any capacity. Bennett took the warning to heart, yet it changed nothing of his thoughts. Bennett graduated from Hogwarts a graduate of Ravenclaw (the first in his family for many a year to not find a home in Hufflepuff).

Like his father, Bennett elected to travel around Great Britain for a little while, taking in all that there was to see. Though he remained avidly curious about the muggles, his knowledge of the spots of trouble he could find himself in with the various social circles in the wizarding communities kept his curiosity mostly restricted to his busy brain. That is until on one particular trip through Wales, he met Rosemary Valencia, a muggle his same age. The two quickly fell and love and were married just two years later in May of 1972. The two had their first child, Esmerelda, in 1973.

Like the whole of the wizard community, the Whiteclaw family was caught in the time-warp. Bennett was horrified to discover that his new wife had not come with them. He was left to raise his daughter alone in 1937. Bennett, a typically irreverent figure, spiraled into depression, missing his wife more than he missed the life that he had once led. Percy worried for his son, noticing that Esmerelda wasn't getting the life she so deserved. Percy convinced his son to attempt to find someone else that brought him happiness which was easier said than done. However, as time went along the extent of the memories began to fade from their minds. Bennett felt a sting that he didn't know the source of.

The time-warp had thrust everyone into the war and Bennett was for the first time in his life uncomfortable with muggles. Seeing the atrocities they were capable of committing, he questioned whether or not they were worth sympathies, a change that Percy found to be particularly unsettling. However, despite his newly formed doubts, Bennett became smitten with a muggle woman whom he met rather by accident on the beach. Her name was Casandra Blackwood and was smitten with her long brown hair and sky blue eyes.

Bennett found himself marrying once more in 1945. Two years later, Bennett welcomed his second child with his younger wife. Naming the child Edmund, the couple vowed to bring no more children into the world, both having become increasingly more jaded with the things that they saw around them.

Edmund spent the first ten years of his at home as happy as a child could be. His parents worked to give him the best home they could and he was appreciative. He never quite developed a strong relationship with his sister, however. He felt that they didn't share much in common, especially in their appearance. He had no idea that his sister was only his half sister or that his father had lived practically another life before he came along. But then again, nobody else by this time had any idea either.

When Edmund's Hogwarts letter arrived, his family was ecstatic, all except for Bennett who was still wrestling with complex feelings that he couldn't explain. It was around this time that Edmund's father caught wind of the time-warp theory. Though Bennett knew the absurdity of it, he seemed to take a particular interest in the idea despite the social stigma surrounding the theory. Ed at first was resistant but shortly before leaving for school, he too developed an interest in the theory, albeit for different reasons than his father.

Edmund made the trip to Platform 9 3/4 with all of his classmates and made the journey to Hogwarts for his first year of school (the 1958-1959 term). Edmund's first year was marked by the horrors of the monster. Being a first year, the professors and other students did what they could to shelter him and his friends from the harsher realities of what was happening. Though rumors swirled, there wasn't much that could be confirmed to Edmund and the other first years.

As the year continued and more and more events unfolded, Edmund reckoned he could use a distraction. He took up a particular interest in history and would spend long hours of his free time reading about the past witches and wizards who'd made the very things he was learning about in class possible. When he was allowed to, he searched the library shelves for any and every book that he could get his hands on, even if the topics weren't in his immediate future class wise.

He even took to asking the professors about the various events he'd read about when they weren't occupied with the goings on of the school, trying to understand the complexities of his world's history. It was in the midst of this first year that his mother wrote to him with news that Bennett was closing himself off slowly. She believed that Bennett's growing fascination with the time-warp theory was planting false ideas in his head and that he was only so interested as it offered some sort of explanation for things and feelings that he couldn't explain.

Despite himself, Edmund too began to wonder about the theory, although the lack of information regarding it outside a sphere of guessing and inconsistent musings of the few true believers deterred him from accepting anything as fact. He worried deeply for his father and feared that this dead end theory was indeed steering him in the wrong direction.

When Edmund returned home for the summer holidays, he made an attempt to speak with his father about all of his experiences, but he didn't seem to be too interested. His father would occasionally try to explain the theory to Edmund and why he found it so fascinating, but Edmund began to resist. Bennett however explained to his son the dark hole he himself had fallen down without explanation had to have an answer. Edmund, frustrated, proclaimed that the only answer was that Bennet was depressed about the very real war outside like everyone else was and that he just didn't talk about it until everyone around him had moved on.

Much to Bennett's surprise, Esmerelda agreed with Edmund, telling her father that she too felt that these feelings were hold overs from having never discussed his natural fears of the world with anyone. Bennett, afraid of spiraling back into the place he was in before meeting Casandra, denied both of his children's assessments and gave them a cold shoulder. Frustrated, Edmund and Esmerelda didn't speak to their father much that summer in return.

Edmund returned to Hogwarts for his second year (the 1959-1960 term) and there wasn't much of considerable note to distract Edmund from his anger at his father's insistence to not see reason. Knowing that Edmund would likely talk about his actions, Bennett wrote warning not to mention to anyone that he saw some truth in the wild theory. These owls were supported with owls from Casandra who reminded Edmund that strangers would see Bennett as a stranger than they did.

His lack of distraction changed shortly however. This was the year that Edmund became aware of the negative connotations of his blood status. Though he was far, far better off than the Muggleborns, he knew that there were some students in the school who took issue with his mother being a muggle. Bennett's fascination with the muggles had become known to a particular group of bullies and this was often used against Edmund to his great annoyance. Edmund longed to be able to look at his father for some support, but he knew that if these other kids knew what else Bennett was up to, it'd only grow more severe.

Over the winter holidays, Percy passed away unexpectedly. Hurt by the loss of his father, Bennet became particularly disagreeable. Edmund, Esmerelda, and even Casandra grew increasingly more frustrated with Bennet, creating high tensions within the family. Edmund didn't even say goodbye to his father when he left to return to Hogwarts. His mother wrote him just hours later to explain that this particular action reduced the clearly beaten down and emotionally exhausted Bennett to tears.

Guilty for his lack of understanding and considering the fact that his father already was struggling with emotions he couldn't explain, Edmund wrote to his father and explained that if he didn't look at his father as crazy and that he understood why he found some sort of hypothetical answer in such a theory, but he also begged his father to listen to his better judgement. Bennett in return sent Edmund a photo of Percy when he was younger, a simple indication that he'd managed to find some catharsis.

Upon the conclusion of his second year, Edmund returned home and the first thing he did upon arrival to the station was take his father in a loving embrace. Bennett surprised him with a promise to no longer speak about any sort of wild theories and to make his best attempt to be more present in his son's life.

Edmund discovered that while he was at school, his father had done a serious assessment of his priorities. Percy's death had made him realize that there was only so much time for everyone to live and that he was wasting his time obsessing over something that he couldn't even begin to prove legitimate. Edmund's relationship with his father improved dramatically, although every once in awhile he would catch Bennett listening to some of the dedicated theorists, few as they may be.

Edmund meanwhile goes to great lengths to ensure that those moments remain within the walls of his home and don't make their way to the knowledge of his classmates at school.

House Request: Gryffindor

Personality:
Edmund is in many ways a perfect amalgamation of his grandfather, father, and his mother. He possesses his grandfather's charm, his father's determination, and his mother's resourcefulness.

Edmund's charm is something he isn't entirely aware of. He seems to know just what to say at just the right moment. His charm doesn't ooze smarminess like some people's tend to, but instead it radiates his kindness. Edmund believes that a simple word of kindness or encouragement carries more magic than all of Hogwarts and he lets that belief guide his hand and heart whenever he can.

Edmund is extraordinarily dedicated when he comes upon something he loves. If he doesn't hold particular interest in something then he may not always put his best foot forward, but he will at the least give something a go. But his determination manifests most into the things that most interest him. This has made him a particularly hands on student and an ambitious one at that. He hopes to stand out to his professors and show his enthusiasm in the classroom.

His resourcefulness is what can sometimes get him into trouble. Edmund is sometimes too clever for his own good. He doesn't mean to, but he often comes up with solutions to his problems that toe the line between creative and just a plain breaking of the rules. As he's gotten older, he's more mindful of himself but it really doesn't stop him from getting creative to fix an issue every now and again.

He holds a particular disdain in his heart for discrimination. He disagrees with the widespread feelings on muggles, and he will speak up when he can. However Bennett encouraged him to not aim to pick fights with bigots as it could end up doing more harm than good. Still, he will defend those that need it when he can.

Appearance:
Edmund's appearance is handsome and he chalks it up to being blessed with the best features of both parents. Atop his head is his father's dirty blond hair. Kept a tad bit longer and considerable bit messy, it's one of his defining features. He shares his mother's sky blue eyes, his favorite feature and, as he's discovered over the years, a natural conversation starter. He shares his height with the men and his family. Standing currently at 5'11", he expects to cross the 6 foot mark by his graduation and expects to at least match Bennett and Percy's 6'2" by the time he finishes his growing in his twenties. Edmund dresses casually, not particularly interested in anything showy. He begrudgingly wears his robes proper when professors are watching but is known to loosen his tie when eyes aren't on him.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Response:

Edmund rather enjoyed lounging outside on the lawn when he had the time. On weekends in the sunnier months of the year, he was often joined by other students passing the time on the grounds. This was a particularly busy day with students from all houses out and about. Some read by the lake, some horsed around on the greens, some read in the branches of the trees. Edmund however had taken to sunning himself by the gardens.

He lay on one of his robes like a blanket, his arms crossed behind his head. He was enjoying the sun when he suddenly felt four scratchy feet dash across chest, quickly followed by rustling in the flower beds behind him. Before he could sit up, dirt was kicked up in a great whirlwind from the flower beds, landing with a crash directly on Edmund's face and chest. He sat up quickly, turning in time to see a student dashing through the flowers chasing after something.

Edmund stood and took off to follow, wondering whether it was trouble or just a bit of rough housing. He saw the other student stop, a boy who looked a bit older, and heave a great sneeze out onto the poor, unsuspecting flowers below him. Wiping the excess from his nose, the boy caught a glimpse of Edmund, not appearing too happy to see him. Despite himself, Edmund laughed at the boy's words.

"I don't reckon it's very polite to throw dirt over a poor underclassman either but..." He gestured down to his shirt. "Anyway, it seems that you're the one who needs a bit of help. Would you happen to be missing a rat?" Edmund explained that a rat had run across his chest moments before the dirt landed on him and he could tell by the look in the older boy's eyes that he was indeed without the company of his four legged companion.

Edmund smiled and said "Come on, he couldn't have gotten too far." The boys stood and took off in the direction that the rat had been running.

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: n/a

Character age: 22 (January 9, 1938)

Character education:
1949-1956: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
1956-present: Independent study

Strength and weaknesses (details please):
By far Timothy's greatest strength is his desire to understand the things and people around him. This has given him an exceptional ability to retain information and put it into practice just as much as it has created a profound sense of empathy within him. He is a problem solver and uses everything he's learned to his advantage when he's confronted with various scenarios in life. He rarely finds himself facing something that he can't think his way out of and when he does, he still assesses his situation to create some sort of course of action be it successful or unsuccessful. His empathy stems from this desire to understand. He takes time to get to know people and how they think and act. He is able to recognize someone's happiness, sadness, or anger and able to adapt to those moods so he's not contributing to making anyone other than happy.

His primary weakness stems from this desire to understand as well. Timothy is incredibly outgoing and not afraid to ask as many questions as he can think of until his curiosity has been calmed. This can get on some people's nerves and indeed some are uncomfortable with Timothy's questioning, despite it coming from a good place. He knows and understands personal boundaries absolutely, but he doesn't always know where the best stopping point is for inquisitions.

Beyond his primary strength, Timothy also is strong in leadership although he won't always volunteer to be the leader. He learned how to properly lead from observing his parents and grandparents leading groups in their lives be it their job or leading a household. Timothy enjoys being a leader, but as mentioned he won't always volunteer to be depending on the situation. However when he recognizes he needs to be the person in charge, such as he would in a classroom situation, he has no problems filling that role.

A secondary weakness, present but not as noticeable as his primary weakness, is that he's antsy. Timothy can't sit still for long and prefers to be standing when he can to allow himself freedom to move around a room when he speaks. This can sometimes be an annoyance to some as he seems almost as if he never runs out of energy.

Physical description:
Timothy was raised to take pride in his appearance, but not to be vain. As such, Timothy keeps himself well kept but doesn't draw signifiant attention to himself. He wears his black hair a tad on the longer side, but never any longer than just above his ear. A curl is known to slink down and hang over his face and he can often be spotted tucking it back into place when it becomes a nuisance.

He is caucasian, but he generally stays somewhat tanned due to the amount of time he spends outside. He is well built, but not exactly muscular. Most of the muscle he does actually carry stems not from exercise, but from helping lift things around the house for his mother or working in his garden at his home. Timothy shares his mother's green eyes and prides himself on them as many members of his family on her side proudly display green eyes.

By far the most striking thing about Timothy is his height. Standing at just above 6'2", he is instantly recognizable in a crowd. He gets his height from his father's side where almost all of the men stand above the six foot mark. The lack of bulk on Timothy and his more slender frame make him appear even taller than he actually is. His height is all in the leg, his mother often joking that he'd only stand a foot tall without them.

Timothy for the most part refrains from dressing particularly flashy. In the summers, he can be seen in simple black shoes with black socks and black ankle length pants with a white shirt with rolled up sleeves tucked into them. In the winter time, he keeps the shoes and pants but replaces the white shirt with a long sleeve sweater of either blue or red. When he dresses up for a special occasion, he relies on his favorite dress robes of a gorgeous deep blue.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.):
Timothy is by far one of the kindest and most outgoing people that you'll ever meet. From a very young age, he was talkative and wanted to be friends with anyone that he came across. He believes kindness is the key to life's great mysteries and tries to show it even when it isn't shown to him. He has a quick sense of humor and appreciates a good laugh. He is quick on his feet with his own humor and can more than hold his own in that department. Timothy is also gentle, believing strongly that anger and a quick temper leads to more harm than good. He chooses to approach serious situations with a brighter outlook, looking for the positives instead of focusing on the negatives.

When he has to administer any sort of discipline, like he often had to with his younger cousins, he would much rather try to understand the person rather than coming at it with anger and a refusal to listen to someone's side of the story. When he needs to be, he can be firm and leave no doubts as to who is in charge of a situation, but he gives everyone a chance to not have to see his more firm side and only brings it out when it is absolutely necessary.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?:
Timothy hopes above all else to leave the world behind a little better for him having been there. He believes that the world is changed by the so called "small ones" in the world and that you don't have to hold a position of significant wealth or power to make a difference. Timothy chooses to make a difference by sharing his fondness for learning and understanding with the world. This desire to share knowledge and inspire understanding of the world around us all is what has led him to Hogwarts. He spent his years at the school seeing and feeling the impact that his professors had on him and his surroundings and wanted to do the same with his life. He also recognizes that students learn best when the professor is passionate for what they're teaching and Timothy puts passion in everything that he does.

Timothy has a lot to share with the students of Hogwarts be it the subjects of his lessons or just the lessons of life in general. When he was in school, he longed for a professor that he could connect with as peer as well as a mentor and Timothy believes he can offer that to the students as well. He doesn't want to give off an air of superiority as he knows that can make the classroom experience awkward. Instead, he wants the students to feel mutual respect and feel as though they're recognized for their own ability. To Timothy, that makes learning more likely and makes the classroom experience more positive, something that he believes could really be useful at Hogwarts.

He dreams of growing old doing something that he loves and there's little he loves more than learning. As a professor, you're not only sharing information, but getting new information shared with you all the time. To Timothy, that sounds like heaven on earth and something that he could lovingly spend his days doing.

Timothy felt in the pit of his stomach that he was quickly wasting the good will that came along with the acceptance for a meeting with Hogwarts' headmistress. He was late, not something characteristic of the young wizard, but it seemed that the world wanted to keep him from meeting the most important appointment of his life. He decided the moment he walked through the gorgeous entrance hall of the school that he'd spent seven wonderful years learning in that he wouldn't make a single excuse and be nothing but honest with his hopefully soon to be boss.

Timothy walked swiftly down the corridors of the great castle, messing with his hair and straightening his robes as he did so. He knew the way to the headmistress' office by heart and allowed his feet to do all the thinking. This left his brain free to work through several different hypothetical interview questions. Timothy had spent the last week working through dozens of questions to be absolutely prepared for the interview. Of course, he knew that nothing could really replicate the experience, but there was no harm in trying.

He arrived to the entrance of the great office, passed for a moment to collect himself, and strode confidently into the room. Miss Ivanova wasted no time in acknowledging Timothy's lateness. And Timothy wasted no time explaining himself. "Indeed I am, ma'am and I'd like to apologize. I left my house promptly and with plenty of time this morning but down every road there seemed to be a slow moving crowd or something to slow me down. I'd spent so much time making sure I was prepared for the interview that something as simple as a portkey or a simple floo trip slipped my mind until it was too late to make either of those a possibility. It's not at all like me, I can assure you that. My sincerest of apologies, headmistress."

Timothy flashed a smile to hopefully cut some of the tension, although he wasn't so sure it was successful. Timothy waited patiently at the door for Headmistress Ivanova to invite him to sit in the vacant seat across from her desk. If his mother had taught him anything it was to always await permission to make use of another's things, never just assume it's free for you to make use of. As he awaited the invitation, he tried to control his fidgeting which became increasingly more difficult the longer he stood to stew in his nerves.
