Year (pick two): Second (please please please), first

Biography:
Parker McCormick liked a great many things.

He liked sweets and climbing and graveyards and black shaggy dogs and his cousin Kora, too.

Ice mice were the best sweets, better even than chocolate because they didn’t melt and you could squeeze them really hard without squishing them. It was a pity the shop on Main Street only sold them in two colours though - if Parker was in charge they’d definitely come in blue and green and yellow too, instead of just the light pink and boring white he had to make do with.

Climbing was a load of fun, especially on really clear days when you could see for miles and miles once you’ve reached the top. Parker wasn’t allowed to climb onto the slanted roof of the Post Office any more, though. The last time he’d done that he’d slipped and grabbed onto the colourful bunting, swinging around and around until his mother managed to grab him and pull him into a tight, trembly hug.

The stones in the church graveyard were interesting and pretty and rough, almost as rough as the church wall itself. Back when he was a really small boy, Parker had taken some paper and crayons with him to the graveyard and made some some really cool pictures. These days Parker could actually read what had been carved into the grave stones so there was no need for paper and crayons any more - the stones told a story all of their own.

One of the neighbours just across the way from the town square had a big, black dog called Sooty. Her fur was all shaggy and Parker had never smelled anything like that girl’s breath. He loved her though and even though he doubted his mum would let him get one that size, he was always on the lookout for a smaller Sooty all of his own. He'd take her out for long walks and even if she got really big in time, he was sure Kora would help him with her.

Kora was his cousin and these days, he spent a lot of time with her. Wyatt, Delilah and Cherry was around too and he loved Cherry, but she was always skipping off after the older boys, probably thinking he was too much of a baby to keep up. It wasn’t true. He could run really fast, almost as fast as Kora and she always said he came up with the best games. Even when she was sad (which, these days, she often was) Parker could make her laugh until neither of them could walk properly.

Parker McCormick liked a great many things but what he liked most of all was being Parker McCormick.

House Request: Sort me!

Personality:
Brooding and intense, Parker often thinks a little too deeply about the world - especially for a boy of twelve! Life doesn't always make sense to him and while it would be easy enough to just roll with the punches, it seems important to try and set things right when he can. That doesn't mean the boy spends all of his time cooped up inside his own mind, though. His bright smile and natural charm has won him a fair few friends over the years. Those that are lucky enough to be close to him will have a friend that can be counted on in a crisis, even if the stakes seem impossibly high.

Appearance:
Blonde, blue eyed and striking, Parker definitely takes after his mother. He has her smile, too, and those wide set eyes that never seem to miss a single thing. It's difficult to stand out in a brood like McCormicks but Parker can hold his own. He loves colour and is always drawing on himself, either doodling or simply copying pictures that he likes.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Roleplay Response:

The Dungeons weren't scary at all. The torches that lined the stone walls filled the narrow corridors with warm light and Parker knew the dripping sounds were just because the Black Lake was nearby. Besides, Professor Winchester's class was down here and if Lily could always run to him when things got scary, then Parker could too.

That wasn't why he was down here today, though. He was trying to figure out just how many portraits were in the castle and which frames they liked to visit. Once he found the favourite frame out of all of the paintings in the castle he could figure out how to visit it himself, just to see what all the fuss was about.

He had a pen, a notebook and was just about to wander closer to a torch to write everything about the pretty floral arrangement he'd just seen when he heard a voice down here. Parker stopped writing and listened. The voice was familiar (sort of), though he should have expected that. There weren't that many of them in the school and he saw most people in the Great Hall every single day. This voice sounded a little bit scared, though, so it sounded a little bit different than the usual idle breakfast chatter.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

"No, it's just me," Parker said, stepping away from the wall and into the light so Evangeline could see him. He gave her a little wave, though it was clear he was a little bit annoyed about something.

"Why don't you leave the ghosts alone? They had rough lives and they will be stuck in school forever, so they don't need you yelling for them."

He had never seen Emma Birch, but he'd certainly heard the rumours about her haunting the place. A vague memory of his mum's tale about her friend and the Transfiguration classroom was enough to dissuade Parker to look for the ghost, let alone wander into the Dungeons just to call for her.

"Help me look for portraits instead. I'm trying to find the most popular frame and I bet there's a few more if we head a little deeper in."

With that he flipped open his notebook and turned it to her, proudly displaying the pages of notes he'd made so far.

Roleplay Response:
Parker loved visiting Hogsmeade with his mum.

The shops were different than they were at home and if he was good, he could always pick a sweet to eat on the way home.

Being good meant not running off, though, which was a little bit difficult. There were so many things to see, with people he'd never met before and by this point he knew the village pretty well anyway.

Luckily it was a nice day out, which meant he could play in the park. There were quite a few more kids here than there was at home and Parker watched, bright-eyed, as one of the girls shoved her training broom straight into the dirt before turning to him. It seemed her older brother had left her behind - something the boy knew was really annoying.

"You!"

Parker perked up, glancing behind him for a second to make sure she was talking to him instead of Cherry or Wyatt or even Delilah. She was looking straight at him, though, so he beamed and stepped forward.

"...Do you want to play?"

"Yes," he said loudly, "... but I can't go far."

He turned around again, hoping his mother had heard that he was doing his level best to be good.

"If I run off I won't get a sweet and that store there sells really big ice mice, much bigger than the ones we get at home."

He paused as a thought occurred to him, slowly stepping towards the girl and speaking in hushed tones.

"Do you have money? Because then you can buy some sweets for us and we can go play wherever we want!"
