SHOPKEEPER PERMIT
You must have applied as an Elsewhere character before completing this permit.

Shop name: Prendergast & Sons
Shop Type: Wand shop
Location: Hogsmeade / Diagon Alley / Knockturn Alley / London
Subforum? Yes (application sent)

Short Description (50 words max): Wands of exceptional quality, since 1522.
Long Description (200 words min):

Exterior:
At first glance, the shop is like any other ancient building on Occamy Street, a dead-end lane off the high street of Diagon Alley. The structures in this part of the Alley are older than most and they all show their age in the charming lean of their windowpanes and the sag of their roofs. Half-timbering in the Tudor style decorates the upper floor, while the lower level is built out of brick with wide, convex shop windows on either side of a dark, hardwood door. Displayed for all to see are open boxes with the shopkeeper's finest workmanship, and it seems that every day the wands in the windows are different. A sign with large silver lettering, spanning the length of the building and glinting proudly reads: Prendergast & Sons. And beneath it: Since 1522.

Shop Level:
Upon entering the shop, a single bells rings above the door, not magically alarmed like most shops in the wizarding world, but rigged up to the door like muggle shops. Gwendolen herself will usually be at work at the front counter, behind which stands a mahogany work bench and a floor littered with shavings. Patrons will have to endure the proprietor's watchful and piercing gaze as she looks them over, deciding which wand to have them try first. And there are many -- the boxes, long and thin and black in color with silver lettering on the side to denote the contents, line the walls in perfect, orderly rows, displayed with the lids shut.

Second Level:
A spiral staircase leads to a loft-like area over the rest of the shop, where Gwendolen conducts individual appointments. Usually these clients are wealthy and want something specific, although Gwendolen reserves the right to refuse to make a wand that ultimately does not suit the user. In this space, there are two large purple armchairs facing a mahogany desk. A black leather desk chair sits behind the desk. Quills and parchment are within reach, as is a handsome muggle typewriter.  The walls are decorated with various portraits, all of whom Gwendolen bears an uncanny resemblance to.

Third Level:
This is Gwendolen's private residence. Simply, keep out.

What purpose will this shop serve other than selling things and being the home of your character? Why would people want to RP there just for fun? Prendergast & Sons doesn't just provide new wands, they also provide customizing services and repairs. It's a good place for the accident-prone wizard to frequent, and roleplaying out the first time you hold a wand is always a character-building moment.
