Biography: (300 words minimum.)

Act I:

It was late in the evening on 3 February 1946 when Kitri made her debut. She was warm and pink, contrasting the freezing, white snow that was falling from the sky outside the hospital room window in Leningrad. She was the first of Nikolai and Irina’s little swans.

She grew up in the wings of the Kirov Theatre watching her mother float across the stage, doing her best to imitate her grace and magic. It was ironic, considering her mother possessed no ability to perform magic, being a muggle. In Kitri’s eyes, however, ballet held a special kind of magic that you could not replicate with a wand. She was convinced her mother was actually weightless when she’d bourrée across the stage, that she could fly with each grand jeté. To perform on the tips of your toes in shoes made of just leather, paper, and glue wrapped in satin and secured by ribbons as if it were effortless was something special.

Each performance or rehearsal that Kitri had the privilege of watching entranced her, even as a toddler with a non-existent attention span. There was no hesitation to enroll Kitri in ballet classes once she was old enough to do so. Even at four years old, after that first class, Kitri knew that this was what she was meant to do.

Joining her in the wings over the years were Odette, Nikiya, and Paquita. The four girls were affectionately referred to as “the little swans” by Irina after the famous pas de quatre. Unlike Kitri, the younger sisters’ only connection to the world of ballet was their first names. None of them shared the same affection that their oldest sister and mother did. Wanting to share with her sisters, Kitri was disappointed. Their parents, on the other hand, were happy to let them explore their own passions.

Act II:

While Kitri threw herself in her mother’s world, she did not shy away from her father’s magical background either. She knew one day she’d be attending a magical school instead of a ballet school, no matter how badly she wished to attend the Vaganova Academy.

Knowing she’d never give up a life of satin and tulle, Nikolai and Irina searched for a way that Kitri could maintain the rigorous training in ballet she loved while also obtaining her magical education. They found the answer in the Wizarding Academy of the Dramatic Arts. They were reluctant to send her so far away, but they could not justify taking either part of her life away for their own selfish desire to keep her close to home.

Continuing her studies in another language was difficult at first. Her English was rough and broken when she arrived, but by the end of her second year there, she was able to understand nearly everything her peers said. Her accent never faded, but immersion forced her into fluency faster than anything else would have. Thankfully, ballet had no language barrier. Anything she did not understand could be demonstrated. If she did not have that, she’d surely have returned home before she completed her first year.

Act III:

After graduating, Kitri began auditioning for ballet companies to begin her career. To begin her dream. She knew landing a contract as an Artist, joining the Royal Ballet’s Corps de Ballet, was only the beginning. She was going to become a Principal dancer and nobody would be able to tell her otherwise. The dream, however, was to one day be recognized as a prima ballerina assoluta.

Having been promoted to a First Artist at the beginning of this season, Kitri has set out to demonstrate her abilities and draw closer and closer to her dream.

In the meantime, she has some pointe shoes to sew.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:

Snow was something Kitri was used to. It reminded her of home, spreading the warmth of nostalgia in her chest (though nostalgia seemed to carry a dull ache as well). While she was happy to have the reminder, it hurt knowing that she would not be able to return home until after Christmas had already passed.

She was wrapped in her warmest jacket and her chin was tucked into her scarf as she weaved through the crowd, doing the last of her Christmas shopping. Bags hung off her arms as she made her way to her final destination: her favorite cafe. Kitri was going to treat herself to a peppermint hot chocolate before she had to endure the nightmare of wrapping the gifts she was going to send off to her family for the holidays.

Kitri looked down at her feet as she traveled down the hill, treading carefully to avoid falling. It wasn’t her, apparently, that needed to be careful. It was the handler of the boxes that came crashing into her from behind. She managed to stay standing, steadying herself just in time to avoid ending up on the ground like the man behind her.

Turning around, she shook her head.

“Ah, no need to apologize. Accidents happen.” She paused, brushing some tinsel from her shoulder. “Do you need any help?”
