Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Tippa Lackless

Birthday: 24 April 1949

Hometown: St. Albans, now resides in London

Bloodline: Pureblood Unknown

Magical Strength (pick one): Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Transfiguration

Year (pick two): First, second

Biography:
1960 was a weird year for Tippa Lackless. She lived with her folks her whole life until December, 1959, when her older sister, EG, took her to live with the Emersons instead. Those people were her cousins, 'apposedly.

At first Tippa didn't know if she'd like staying with her cousins, but it turned out they were pretty neat. They were all wizards except one, and though it was sad leaving their parents, Axel and Melissa and Bethany and Anise and Ox were a lot more fun to spend time with. Even if Ox was a 'newsense.' Tip and Bethany became fast friends, and Tippa learned how to fly, and then she got her own broom, and her own wand, and got to watch Axel and Melissa do magic. Sometimes her other cousins came around too and they were grown wizards who did magic too.

The only bad part was day care, because they treated Tippa like she wasn't smart enough to take care of herself. Obviously nobody had told them she used to sneak off to Wizardland Diagon Alley by herself when her mum and dad weren't paying attention. And they sure didn't believe her when she tried to tell them, which made her even grumpier.

Going to Hogwarts was gonna be the best thing.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Hufflepuff please!

Personality:
Tippa doesn't like playing by any rules but her own. She likes doing her own thing and ordering others around until they play along, 'cause she obviously knows best. Tip's unapologetic, with little insight into how her actions affect those around her. On the positive, she'll defend her people 'til the end, and her standards are high for how others treat her and her friends, meaning she has a habit of picking fights about the smallest infractions.

Appearance:
Small but scrappy describes Tippa best, from her beat-up Converse runners to the curly crop of ginger locks atop her head. She hates when her hair grows long enough to tickle her face or fall in her bright blue eyes, so she tends to hack off pieces herself when needful, with whatever sharp objects she can find. Usually Tippa wears her father's spare grey newsboy cap, in which she keeps her most prized possessions, and doesn't bother with girly clothes because how is anyone s'posed to climb or bicycle or fly while wearing stupid skirts? (By the way, does she need permission to wear pants as part of her uniform?)

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Roleplay response:

This was gonna be so fun.

Tippa had been mostly minding her own business when she heard the word 'dare' from a student who forgot to whisper (which was a big mistake). And then she accidentally heard a bunch of words that came after the word 'dare'. The redhead had learned enough to know that some girl was gonna be going to the dungeons, and that she wasn't happy about it, and that a ghost was s'posed to maybe show up.

'Cause she was bored, Tippa got an idea. She'd go into the dungeons too and do something funny. And when she peeked around the corner where she waited in the dungeons, and saw that it was Evangeline, she knew it was gonna be even more fun than she originally thought.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

Tippa made a funny face. That probably wasn't the proper way to call a ghost, never mind she had no idea what the better way could possibly be. But the loud question was probably more likely to scare off a ghost than anything. Anyway, Tip wasn't a real ghost and this was her chance, so it didn't really matter.

Cupping her hands around her mouth, Tippa made some really convincing ghost noises. "OooooOOOOooooohhhhh. OoooooOOOHH!" Then she clamped her hand over her mouth to keep the giggles from coming out 'cause ghosts probably didn't giggle. Oh, Beebee was gonna laugh so hard when Tip told her about this.

Eviguin Lackless

Biography: (100 words minimum.)
EG's at school, and Mum's acting funny again. That leaves Tip to take care of herself, 'cause Dad sure isn't any help.

Tippa looks sort of like her big sis, with the same pale blue eyes and freckles, but Tip's got reddish hair and doesn't care about any of the girly stuff EG likes. Except for being a wizard a'course, but that's as secret as the box of owl food EG keeps under her bed for us to pull out when she sends letters. Oh, and Tip also likes adventures, but EG follows way more rules.

On any given day, Tip's likely to wander around swiping sweets or riding her bike to anywhere she can. When she runs out of road she picks the best tree to climb up and try to get leaves in ladies' hair or things like that. That's getting boring though. Mum took her to the really cool wizard place once, and they took a train, so if Tip finds enough coins she's going to take the train there and Mum won't notice anyway because she's in bed all the time now.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
Type your response here.

Tippa saw the root growing out of the ground a little too late. Though she swerved, her front tire found a snug home where tree met dirt and decided to stay a while, sending the girl astride the rest of the bicycle straight into the tree's thick, scratchy trunk.

"Ooof," she exclaimed. "Watch it!"

Predictably, the tree did not respond to her warning, but one of these days it could answer back because of her wizard powers and then she would know all of the trees' secrets. Or maybe next time it would move.

If Tip had bothered to inspect the damage, she'd have noticed her knee was torn and bloody and bruises were already forming in many places, including her temple. But the girl didn't pay that much attention to that kind of thing because she had rather more important things to do.

Like kids flying!? Other wizards!?

Just as the redheaded girl managed to convince her bike to come with her, she heard noises and looked around and saw exactly what was going on. It was the first time Tip ever saw it but she knew, from the stories EG told her about how other kids at school would fly around on broomsticks and hit things at each other in the sky.

Tip ran with her bike toward the park nearby, forgetting she would be faster if she just got on it, and emerged through some poorly-placed bushes with a few extra scratches on her arms just in time for a girl around her age to fix Tip with some pretty ferocious attention.

"You! ....Do you want to play?"

It took all of two seconds for Tippa to figure out this girl wanted a friend more than she wanted to fly. Tippa wanted to fly pretty bad but maybe they could do that next.

"Yeah okay. Wanna ride my bike? It doesn't go in the air like those but it does go super fast."
