The day had a certain kind of coldness. It had the smell of Jack Frost's delicate touch lingering in the air and it was the kind that forced you to breathe into your hands, only to make it cold and clammy. In front of St.Mungos's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, a handsome young man apparated with a loud 'crack'. He was 5"8 tall, had steel grey eyes and tidy black hair. The man's name is Henri Parker. He had just finished a hearing when he received the news of his wife giving birth to healthy twin girls.

Earlier that day, a chestnut-brown-haired and blue-eyed Madeleine Parker (née Brooks) felt the tension in her abdomen, pain in her pelvic area and soreness in her back as she waited for her husband to arrive from his hearing.

Henri and Madeleine met at a dinner party hosted by some traditionalist purebloods. Exactly one year later, they exchanged wedding vows and two years later, they had Caleb who looked just like his father. Now they had twin girls to add to the family tree, Olivia Ava and Eloise Addison.

Time passed, Henri got promoted to Chief Warlock in the Wizengamot, Madeleine to Assistant Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, Caleb formed a strong passion for Quidditch, Olivia for music and Eloise learnt that it was a competition growing up.

Caleb excelled in Quidditch – he was lightning fast on a broomstick, he never missed a shot he threw, became Quidditch captain and lead Slytherin to multiple victories.
Olivia excelled in the arts – she could paint, act, dance, she learnt how to play the violin and piano at a very young age and she had a voice of an angel.

Eloise was brilliant at Quidditch but she was only the opening act if Caleb was playing.
Eloise could sing but Olivia’s voice was so much more.
Eloise always did well in class – she wasn't at the top but she was always so close to the top.
always so close.
She hated feeling mediocre. She hated feeling like she was below someone else. She felt as if she was expected to be just as excellent, if not better, but no matter what she did, she was always so close.

? ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request:
Slytherin

Personality:
Practical, resilient, self-reliant, resourceful, determined, adventurous, intelligent, competitive and ambitious. Those traits make her the Slytherin she is. She hates feeling weak and wants to come off as a bold, strong and independent character so she hides all her insecurities with a facade. The facade, although proves successful, makes her come off as conceited and critical as well. Through the disguise, she really is a naive and impulsive coward. Eloise is stubborn, indecisive, sometimes dishonest, and very manipulative.

Appearance:
Eloise stands 5"2 tall. Her straight chestnut brown hair ends just after her bust and her fair skin and clear complexion only accentuate the piercing grey that are her eyes.

? SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

Eloise could see the tears in his eyes as the guilt ate him alive. The outburst was pretty stupid and Eloise would bet that that was the thought of every Slytherin in the Great Hall right now. Eloise felt sorry for the second year even if it was her house that came out victorious.

The tears in his eyes made him look weak and showed everyone exactly how vulnerable he really was. "What an idiot," she thought in the most sympathetic way as she shook her head. "First he drops the Quaffle out of pressure, cries about it and then just called himself a loser in front everyone in the Great Hall... Someone give him the idiot of the year medal already..."

Hi Eloise!

Just a few things to revisit before we can accept you:
-Due to the large community of writers and the fact that this site has been around for over a decade, we have quite a detailed canon. This means that it is not possible for Eloise's parents to claim such specific high-ranking jobs in the Ministry, since those positions will already have been filled by played characters. You are welcome to refer to them as a 'high-ranking diplomat' or a 'committee head' or something like that, but please remove the references to Chief Warlock and Assistant Department Head.
-This also applies to Eloise's brother, Caleb. Since our Hogwarts board hosts its own Quidditch cup every year with the House teams, the position of Slytherin team captain would have been taken by a played character.
-Finally, can you expand a bit on your roleplay response? What was Eloise doing before she came across James? Was she in the Great Hall? Did she follow him? Also, in your post, it appears that Eloise is only thinking to herself and not really interacting with James. Your post should give James something to respond to, as if you were participating in a thread with him.

If you could repost your application with these revisions, we'll be happy to take another look!

Eloise was the youngest child of purebloods, Henri and Madeleine Parker. Any other usual family would have spoilt the youngest rotten but not the Parkers. No, Eloise was expected to do great things just like her older siblings. With that said, it was no wonder that Eloise found growing up a competition.

Eloise had two older siblings; Caleb and Olivia.
Caleb, who was three years older than Eloise, was devilishly handsome, looking like the younger version of his father with his tidy black hair and forest green eyes. He was athletic and also bloody smart. Always top of his year, he was.
Olivia, who was a mere seven minutes older, looked exactly like Madeleine – chestnut brown hair and steel grey eyes. The older twin was talented in the arts; she could play the piano and the violin, she could paint and draw, she could write beautiful stories and she had the voice of an angel.

Eloise, on the other hand, had good grades but she was never at the top of her year. Eloise could perform but her light wasn’t as bright as Olivia’s.
Her siblings have set bars far too high for her to climb over. However, she didn’t give up. If she did, she’d be labelled weak and there’s nothing more Eloise hated than feeling weaker than people.

Something nobody really knew about her was her strong interest in Quidditch. She was itching to learn techniques and start flying but he had only been on the broom once (when she was in her first year at Hogwarts). She wanted to get on it again, practice and tryout for the Slytherin Quidditch team but her mother wouldn’t approve of it. Her mother would never approve of it.
"It isn't a game for ladies."

“How can you live up to their expectations when you haven’t lived up to your own, Eloise?” she remembered her aunt say. Aunt Cassie was a wise and tender sort. She was the only person Eloise could spill the beans to and trust wholeheartedly but Eloise never saw her again after she got disowned for marrying a muggle man. After that, she had to keep everything in.

As Eloise got older, the pressure got so heavy she felt as if she was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. It was just a matter of time until she would just crumble and her bones will break. It was just a matter of time until her heart would be ripped out of her chest.

Growing up was a competition she was forced to enter but there was just absolutely no winning it. Not yet, at least.

Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

Eloise had the biggest smile plastered on her face as she made her way towards the Great Hall. She had just witnessed one of the most exciting Quidditch games ever. She wasn’t even sure ‘game’ was the correct term to use because it seemed more like a full-out brawl. The more the lions scored, the more the snakes fought back.

In the end, it was her house that came out victorious. Slytherin had finally managed to steal the Quiddutch Cup from the Gryffindors (even if it was by a few mere points and some last-minute luck).

Eloise was greeted by loud chatting, cheering and chanting. The buzz about the game earlier on today filled her ears as she sat down with some friends near the entrance. It seemed to her that the noise would drone on and just never end. But it actually did when someone yelled, “WHAT! Haven’t you seen a loser before? Why don’t you just take a picture!”

Life at that very moment seemed to pause and stare at the young boy’s outburst.

The green-eyed Slytherin knew who the boy was. This was the boy who dropped the Quaffle at the minute and was responsible for Gryffindor’s defeat. And he had tears in his eyes. He was crying in front of so many people. He was showing how vulnerable he really was.

Eloise felt sorry for the boy since the guilt was clearly eating him alive but at the same time, she felt glad he dropped the Quaffle since Slytherin won. A small part of her made her feel glad he was crying and showing he was weak. That small part made Eloise sick to the stomach, "that's horrible, Eloise..." her conscience said.
Times when her feelings contradicted were the worst, in her opinion. It was so confusing. Life is so confusing.

“He drops the Quaffle, cries about it and announces to the world he’s a loser…” she thought, unsure of how she felt about the situation.
“What an idiot,” she accidentally said, sounding a lot harsher and louder than she intended it to. Her eyes widened when she realized it could have reached his ears. She quickly turned her features into an indifferent mask. Her only thought at that instant was “Why did I say that? Why the bleeding hell did I say that?”
