Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Archibald Nathaniel Hartley IV

Birthday: 17 - 13 February 1950

Hometown: London, England

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination

Year (pick two): Seventh, Sixth

Biography:
Archibald Nathaniel Hartley was born the day before Valentine's Day in 1950, ironically enough just one day older than his favorite cousin Sebastien. Growing up, the pair were very similar in mannerisms and ways of thinking. But as the years have passed, they have blossomed into different people but still just as close to one another.

Archie was the first male born to Camilla and William Harley, followed by Declan two years later. His parents were well known throughout the pureblood circles, commanding the respect of those they came into contact with. On the surface, they were a happy, wealthy family. His mother was a retired opera singer, often spending time away during his childhood to travel to different countries, performing in various opera houses in order to secure her legacy. His father owned one of the largest banks in England and several properties around the country, cementing the family's stability. William and Camilla were determined to live as luxuriously as they could and keep their children from wanting for anything. Truth be told, there were whispers of shady dealings but nothing substantial would ever be found. Archie knew in his heart it was true, but he would never confront his father about such a thing.

The two boys grew up fairly close to their cousins on William's side - Bash, Sola, Noemi, and Esmee. Because Archie didn't have any sisters, he felt very protective of the girls. Bash was practically his best friend, always getting into trouble together and doing something completely ridiculous. He enjoyed his life, and did all he could to make others laugh, or flirt with any skirt he saw. His always told him that life was far too short to not go after what you wanted. And if his father urged him to do so, who was Archie to say no? The patriarch's word was law within their household.

The eldest boy enjoyed his career at Hogwarts. There was a sea of pretty girls to snog, his family was there, and so were his friends. He thrived off from the affection and love they offered - even if it was minimal. The castle really was a home away from home, where he could get the attention never shown from his parents. All in all, it was fun being a teenager and he soaked up every moment.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Gryffindor, Slytherin

Personality:
Archie's deepest fear is being alone, whether that is physically or emotionally. He is fully aware of the anxiety it brings him, knowing full and well it's due to never being close to his parents. Coming off as charismatic and flirty works as a mask to hide the insecurity of not being good enough for anyone. The boy truly is gentle at heart, but he tries incredibly hard to hide it. He would do anything for his friends, despite the consequence.

Appearance:
Standing at close to six foot, Archie towers over most people his age. Though he doesn't have a malicious bone in his body, the young man isn't opposed to using intimidation in his favor. Bright blue eyes shift to grey in the colder months, a striking contrast to his dark brown hair. He often hears compliments of his strong jawline and warm smile. He walks with a purpose with head higher than most, taught by a proud father.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Roleplay Response:
It had been a fairly decent day outside, weatherwise the sun was still shining. The grass was greener than it should have been and the flowers vibrant. A slight breeze tickled the back of his neck, rippling through the thin material of the white button up. Sleeves rolled up to his forearms, Archie was enjoying the outside grounds. Even more so with the blonde next to him.

Walking along the various flowers near the greenhouses, the elder boy spotted a younger student chasing after something. Brows furrowed in both confusion and curiosity as he nodded towards the kid. "Hey! You lose something?"

Moving closer, he pulled the girl's hand with him. He looked down at the boy, taking in the aftermath of what he assumed was allergies and who knows what. He chuckled at the hostility, "You good?'

Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Archibald Nathaniel Hartley was born the day before Valentine's Day in 1950, ironically enough just one day older than his favorite cousin Sebastien.

Archie was the first male born to Camilla and William Harley, followed by Declan two years later. His parents were well known throughout the pureblood circles, commanding the respect of those they came into contact with. On the surface, they were a happy, wealthy family. His mother was a retired opera singer, often spending time off in childhood to travel to different countries, performing in various opera houses. On the other hand, his father owned one of the largest banks in England and several properties around the country. William and Camilla were determined to live as luxuriously as they could and keep their children from wanting for anything. Truth be told, there were whispers of shady dealings but nothing substantial would ever be found.

The boys grew up fairly close to their cousins on William's side - Bash, Sola, Noemi, and Esmee. Because Archie didn't have any sisters, he felt very protective of the girls. Bash was practically his best friend, always getting into trouble together and doing something completely ridiculous. He enjoyed his life, and did all he could to make others laugh, or flirt with any skirt he saw. Life was far too short to not go after what you wanted.

That's why he liked being at Hogwarts - there were plenty of pretty girls to flirt with, snog here or there. It was fun being a teenager and he soaked up every moment.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
Archie really hated going shopping with his family, particularly the matriarch.

He did enjoy shopping when it came to being alone or with Bash. Whenever the boy was out, he knew precisely what he was on the hunt for and got straight to the point. There was no lollygagging, not like with his mother. She liked to go into almost every shop and look at all of the pretty things. It was annoying and time consuming, two things that he despised.

So when dear old mum went into the fifth shop that afternoon, Archie took his brother and walked across the street to the park. Surely, there would be something more to do out in the sun than cooped up waiting on whatever pointless conversation she was having.

A little girl’s voice interrupted the brothers’ conversation, asking them to play. Archie glanced sideways at his brother before turning back to the girl, “Ya got a sister?” A wicked smirk appeared before he felt his brother’s heated glare.
