About the shop.Oil & Rain is a custom mechanical-magical solutions shop. It’s an inventor’s workshop and garage on an off-main-alley corner of Diagon Alley. The shop provides blended magical and muggle solutions to any project, big or small. Services include customized tools, motor vehicle overhaul, enchantments & potions, and more. Inquiries welcome. Part-time employment, apprenticeship, and internship opportunities available.
About the owner.Dienne Orellana is a ‘72 Gryffindor alumni, former Head Girl, current registered Animagus and female inventor. It’s been her dream since young to run her own business, and she’s made it happen through sheer grit and obstinate determination. Dienne is a no-nonsense business woman who can be found for a majority of the time elbow deep in grease and metal shavings, working very hands-on with her employees to continuously supply the store’s unique inventory. She’s polite to customers but blunt and harsh as a default. She often crosses the wrong side of the Ministry with her Muggle-forward inventions, having them confiscated on a near weekly basis.
About the place.
outside.Take a left off into a side street of Diagon Alley and right at the end, at the corner, are massive double wide garage doors that are frequently left open for anyone passing to peer in and see the employees working. The space inside is functional industrial, metal surfaces, scratched well-used wood, oil staining concrete floors. It’s chaotic how much is inside the garage, but well organized and labeled for anyone to peruse.
the front garage.Right inside is a large, multi-car garage space. Permanently fixtured to one side is the owner’s red muscle car. In the middle and immediate front are the work areas for whatever large projects are being done: cars, broomsticks, carriages, and more.
Customers can walk in (or come for an appointment) to the service desk located just in front of the completely unnecessary elevator and massive set of stairs that lead into Dienne's living space above the garage.
on display. All along the walls, hanging from the ceilings, perched on the windows, and most likely displayed right on the workbenches mid-production in full view of the Alley, are Dienne’s inventions. Any item is open for inquiry to purchase, and any employee can price and sell it on the spot for any interested customer.
in the back.Behind the main garage is a completely separate space that used to be a Muggle mechanic shop. It’s been since turned into a reasonably clean, reasonably Muggle friendly space for locals to stop by repairs. Muggles may never step through the barrier into the Diagon Alley facing shop; but Dienne strives to always expose those on the magical side of her work to its Muggle half.
