Christmas Day 1972…  After this
An Hour After Dinner

He refused to go near the Entrance Hall within the walls of the castle as much like the Great Hall it was overdecorated.  Yet, here he stood outside the castle where the doors of the Entrance Hall opened to the outside world.  He’d borrowed one of his housemates brooms and chooses to fly off one of the towers in order to avoid the entrance hall entirely.  A broom he sent off to hide on a ledge he was confident no one would notice it on, so it would be there when he summoned it to go back inside.

He’d said he’d meet Eira outside.  Hopefully, she actually came outside and didn’t assume he’d walk through the inside part.

He said “ I think there might be a meteor shower tonight. “ Normally he’d of asked pleasantries such as how her day was.  The catch was today had been Christmas and the last thing he wanted as to hear about it.  A fate he’d avoided minus a few house elves who found him and gave him treats that he noticed were duller than what he remember from when he was younger.

Eira couldn't help but adore the Christmas feeling, the decorated trees in the Great Hall, the smell of the food, the snowflakes raining down on the students and professors at their table, never to touch them.

It was painfully beautiful, making her ache for this in a different setting than her school. Maybe even some gifts. She knew that when everyone came from their own Christmases the most brilliant presents were going to get shown off, once again eliciting a low simmering feeling of jealousy inside her chest at what she was getting denied every year.

With a mixture of feelings, Eira stepped outside the castle to find Tigran already waiting for her. She could tell that he didn't fancy the whole Christmas thing much, so she decided to just go along with the theme. "Are you going to watch it?", she asked, the cold already making its way towards her bones.

what's the point in being modest

"Are you going to watch it?”

He said “Yes, and if there isn’t one I’ll illusion enough fake meteors that the kids in the towers look outside and think there is one. “ Or maybe not as he thought about it as he really didn’t want them all wandering outside and joining him with their infectious cheer that felt more like salt being applied to the wound of his situation.

As much as he hated how his father had avoided them all with his depression, and then once he got his letter avoided him due to jealousy he had magic.  He now partly got it.  The kiddos were better off without him being a jealous pouty grinch.  The catch was the kiddo’s in the castle didn’t need him like he’d needed his father as a boy before he dipped - so that partly wasn’t enough to garner any forgiveness on his part.

He started walking forward towards the grounds hoping they’d not be joined by carolers or the sort as he said “ I was thinking of conjuring a bubble to sit in on a good rock around the lake that was transfigured to be warmer after our walk. “

He had zero intention of re-entering the castle that night.

"Sounds good to me", Eira replied. At least she wouldn't be cold or alone that way. Even if the thought was almost making her feel embarrassed, sitting inside a bubble with Tigran, all alone.

Eira quickly shook the thought from her mind, fighting against the heat that was threatening to climb up her neck.

She wondered what was going in in Tigran's life. She knew he was living in the orphanage, for what reason though, she had no idea. And he hated Christmas, that much was plain as day. She wouldn't ask though. She knew that he wouldn't answer something like that. Instead she said: "So, what have you been up to?", feeling rather awkward.

He shivered slightly and pointed his wand at himself casting yet another warming charm.  His dislike for the cold a constant now that he knew how deep it could get within his bones - something he aimed to never feel again.

He wasn’t sure where to walk outside as the fact was he wanted to get away from the castle certainly, but he didn’t want to trouble anyone with a search in the forbidden forest either.  So he just walked towards the lake.

He said “ Reading mostly.  I found a neat book on memory charms.  I never really thought about oblivate and with control over it how damaging it could be.  Thankfully no one on the dueling block has the control to be a real obliviator. “  Then he took a deep breath knowing there was no avoiding the holidays as he asked “ Have you found enjoyable things to occupy yourself with over the break. “

Eira followed Tigran who led them towards the lake, which was glistening beautifully in the sun and amidst the thick layer of snow that covered everything the eye could see. If only the winter wasn't so cold, Eira might even enjoy it all.

Eira nodded along to Tigran's comments on memory charms on the duelling block. She had never used the spell and had never seen anyone try either. But her guess was that it must feel terrible to lose ones memories like that. Even though none of the students could do real damage, she was sure, it still felt somewhat unsettling to think about.

"Well, reading too mostly. There's not much else to do. I actually might be the only Slytherin left at Hogwarts. I haven't seen anyone since break started." Or maybe she just hadn't paid enough attention. Most of those people, she didn't want anything to do with anyway and the ones she liked (the thought almost made her shudder) were all gone. "At least the library is blessedly empty", she added with a smile in Tigran's direction.

With a smirk he said “ Just be careful around the common room as regrettably your housemates aren’t that experienced in staying invisible so I kamiflaged one of them on the way outside when they said something stupid. “  Though he thought him hexing one of Eira’s housemates might count as a public service as the girl was an annoying pureblood prat.

He left off the fact he also silenced her.  All he could hope the girl was so embarrassed that it went unmentioned so he’d not get detention.

A couple hours later

He held back his complaints about the cold, minus one joke that he wasn’t made for it earlier.  Now that was behind them as he’d warmed the rock as he’d planned and made a nice little transparent conjured bubble around them with an opening in front of them to keep them cosy.

Sitting atop a warm rock with Eira he said “ Serious question. How do you just not hex your housemates for being annoying? “

Then he pointed his wand up in the air and made the illusion of a few shooting stars.
