Ministry | Are changes coming? pg. 3 Wednesday, 8 November 1972
Bellestorm: New Minister! Tomas Bellestorm, 43, has been selected as the new Minister of Magic after winning the election held yesterday, 7 November. Atticus Rivera, 35, who had been appointed Interim Minister of Magic after Pryce Hir retired, lost after winning the support of many of the younger voters on his platform for equality. “I will be delivering a speech at Scrivner Quidditch Stadium on Friday (10 November) to address my supporters and speak of the future. I will not be speaking further to the press on this matter,” Rivera said. The election had started with three candidates, however Matthias Bianchi, 51, dropped out in October citing his desire to prioritize his family. “Today is not simply a personal victory—it is a resounding affirmation of the values that have defined our magical society for centuries. I am deeply honored by the trust you have placed in me to lead at such a pivotal moment in our history. This election was about far more than two names on a ballot—it was a decision between preserving the foundations that bind us together and risking their erosion. The people of Magical Britain have chosen stability, progress, and the enduring strength of our shared heritage,” Bellstorm said. Bellestorm will be retaining the title of Chief Warlock as he takes over the Minister’s office. Staff and policy changes are expected in the coming weeks.

Candidate Platforms Announced! The Daily Prophet is proud to publish the platforms of the Minister of Magic candidates. Please see below.
Atticus Rivera - A renewed push for equality for non-human beings in society and within the government.
- Explicit government support of continued efforts to push back against the blood-purity debate to further improve the lives of Half-Blood and Muggle-Born citizens.
- While maintaining the Statute of Secrecy, expand the relationship between the Wizarding and Muggle governments to better ensure the safety of both communities.
- Strengthen our relationships with other magical governments via increased funding to and enrichment of the Department of International Magical Cooperation.
- Establish a robust government program to assist disadvantaged students in getting their school supplies (including robes, textbooks, stationary, and more) for all seven years spent at Hogwarts.
- Reinforce the expected curriculum of Hogwarts but reduce Ministry oversight in the way that the professors teach and give more freedom to the school’s staff to decide the best ways to educate students (within reason).
- Increase funding to under served departments such as the Magical Social Affairs office and the Magical Creatures office.
- Establish new guidelines that balances the power of the Wizengamot with other legal entities so that there is not one body that has more strength over another. In other words, a checks and balances system so that the Wizengamot does not have as sweeping and deep running power to control legislation.
Tomas Bellestorm - Restore Britain to Glory: Revive Britain’s status as a leading magical power, invoking historical pride.
- Protect Pure Heritage: Advocate for the preservation of wizarding bloodlines.
- Secure Future for Children: Ensure a safe, prosperous world for magical children, untainted by external threats.
- Economic Prosperity: Strengthen the wizarding economy by focusing on internal growth and reducing reliance on Muggles.
- Magical Britain for Wizards: Prioritize the needs of the wizarding community, excluding non-magical beings from governance.
- Respect and Order: Establish a strong, authoritative government to restore law and order in the wizarding world.
- Harness Tradition: Revitalize ancient wizarding traditions for the modern era.
- Unite Against Threats: Protect the community from werewolves, vampires, giants, and veela.
Matthias Bianchi - Represents the labor unions, working class level of witches and wizards. Has deep rooted trade partnerships with many well-known suppliers across the world. Was a key member of the Department of International Magical Cooperation for many years, specifically instituting key policies in the Magical Trading Standards Body and the Magical Law Office, as pertaining to foreign commerce.
- Focus on increasing community outreach programs across Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales for Squibs and Muggleborns in adulthood
- Invest in infrastructure improvements for key focal magical locations, such as the Ministry, St. Mungo's, and Diagon Alley. Ensure the outdated locations are modern and well supported to last the next millenia.
- Promote Hogwarts co-op and internship programs across the wizarding community. Establish incentives for businesses to take on almost-grads. Encourage Hogwarts curriculum to lean towards more practical applications over theoretical.
- Strengthen laws protecting Muggles and increase discipline for misuse of magic and abuse of the Statute of Secrecy
- Strengthen relationships with other magical governments through increased export of British magical goods while increasing inspections and monitoring of imports and exports
- Cater to businesses by offering tax incentives, grants, and positive publicity in exchange for sponsoring public events, be them infrastructure, national security, or research improvements

Minister Candidates Announced! Tomas Bellestorm, 43, and Matthias Bianchi, 51, announced their intentions of running against Atticus Rivera, 35. This news comes on the heels of Rivera announcing that a Ministerial election will take place in November. Now, with three candidates, we should expect to hear a lot of political talk in the coming months. But who are Bellestorm and Bianchi? Tomas Bellestorm is a seasoned legal practitioner and Chief Warlock of the Wizengamont. As the head of a prominent global legal corporation founded by his father, Bellestorm has cultivated a vast network of influential contacts across the political, legal, and financial sectors. His extensive experience and deep understanding of the law make him uniquely qualified to serve as Minister of Magic and ensure the efficient and effective operation of the wizarding government. Bellestrom was born in Norway and attended Durmstrang, and has been located in the United Kingdom for years. He is married and the pair have a daughter who works at St. Mungo's. Matthias Bianchi is a deeply experienced tradesmen and diplomat, representing the British Ministry at the International Confederation of Wizards for the last decade. As the former head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, Bianchi has built an extensive professional history instituting key policies that have supported economic health, financial security, foreign collaboration, and educational reform. Bianchi maintains active connections with many prominent businesses across industries, continuously being voted into Treasurer or Chairperson roles, or being invited to serve in an advisory capacity. His unquestionable hard work and varied experience has created a unique opportunity for the British Ministry to experience a new kind of Minister of Magic. Bianchi was born in Milan, Italy and emigrated to the United Kingdom in his late teens, graduating from Hogwarts. He has two daughters and a son who he shares joint custody of with his former spouse. The Daily Prophet has contacted all three campaigns for more information about the details of each candidate’s platforms. We are pleased to report all three have agreed to send us detailed documentation of their plans and policies. We intend to publish these as soon as they become available.

Finance | Nifflers have taken over! pg. 5 Monday, 28 August 1972
Next Minister of Magic? Interim Minister of Magic, Atticus Rivera, 35, has announced a ministerial election will take place in November.
Rivera has been in the position since late June when Pryce Edgar Hir, 59, retired from office after being elected Minister of Magic during the 1943 election.
“It has been a pleasure to serve these last two months as the Interim Minister of Magic,” said Rivera. “However, I am aware that is not a position I was elected into. The citizens of this country deserve to have a leader they elected directly. I am confident that I will be that choice when it is time for ballots to be cast.”
While no other candidates have announced a campaign yet, our sources indicate that at least two others have been contacting campaign management firms in the last several weeks.
OOC: More information about this event will be coming this week! Please stay tuned!

a half page advertisement is posted in the Daily Prophet on 6 july 1971. readers are directed to the Quidditch section to find the full interview below.
Quidditch Legends, Apply Within: Hogwarts Welcomes Volunteers Quidditch Quarterly had the pleasure to catch up with internationally renowned Coach Orellana. Orellana's vision to develop the next best and brightest players of the British and Irish Quidditch League has stirred up quite a bit of change at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry of late. Astrid Starfire brings you this exclusive interview on his latest initiative.
AS: Good morning, Coach Orellana! Thank you for taking the time to speak with us today. Could you tell our readers about your latest initiative at Hogwarts?
BO: Good morning! It's my pleasure. I'm thrilled to extend an invitation to Quidditch enthusiasts everywhere to join us at Hogwarts. We're seeking Quidditch professionals, both current and ex, and any school alumni who have left illustrious legacies within our halls. These volunteers would help officiate matches during the season while helping train our talented young players.
AS: That sounds like an incredible opportunity! What inspired you to reach out to the wider Quidditch community in this way?
BO: Well, we've always valued opportunities for our students to learn from the best. Having professional players and legendary alumni join us not only enhances the learning experience, but provides students with valuable real-world connections to consider Quidditch life beyond Hogwarts.
AS: How do you think this initiative will benefit both the students and the volunteers?
BO: For our students, it's a chance to receive personalized coaching, learn new strategies, and experience the intensity of playing alongside seasoned Quidditch veterans. For the volunteers, it offers a unique platform to share expertise, mentor young talent, and get an early glimpse into promising future players.
AS: What can volunteers expect during their time at Hogwarts?
BO: Volunteers can expect a warm welcome from our students and faculty. For two months leading up to their officiated games, volunteers are invited to stay with us at Hogwarts to attend the weekly Quidditch practice sessions. They will engage in training sessions tailored to the needs of our students, share their knowledge and skills, and then officiate their assigned match to the high anticipation of all watching.
AS: How can interested individuals get involved?
BO: Reach out to me directly at Hogwarts. Whether you're a retired professional player or a Hogwarts graduate who misses the rush of scoring a goal, we welcome all volunteers who share our dedication to Quidditch.
AS: Thank you so much for sharing this exciting opportunity with us, Coach Orellana! I'm sure many of our readers will be eager to get involved!
BO: Thanks for having me. That invitation includes you too, of course, Astrid. Don't think I've forgotten how good your swing is.
AS: Flatterer. You'll make me blush.
