Laurel, lavender, forget-me-not, rose.
She'd said, "Papa, what's twins?"
Papa had told her they were a common genetic phenomenon in her family, whatever that meant, and that his brothers, her uncles, Lucretius and Lotharius, were twins.
"A twin is your brother or sister who grew with you in your Mamma's belly. Someone who looks like you, more than your other siblings. Sometimes they look completely alike-- your uncles Lu and Lo, for example. But sometimes they don't, like your brother Cade and sister Breanne."
Lucretia replied, "they're twins?"
"Yes, pet."
And so she smiled. "Me and Lorcan are twins."
Papa had laughed at that. "No, pet. Lorcan is older than you, and you didn't grow together in your Mamma's belly."
She frowned. "No. We're twins."
