History

The Warren Metropolian Youth Academy for the Gifted is the premier pre-magical school in North America. Warren's being a pre-magic schooling academy under the guise of an elite muggle school for the gifted, it was the first school of its kind in North America.

Arthur Warren and Joshua Combe, both experienced teachers, recognized as soon as they met that their strengths were complementary. Joining Warren's warmth and enthusiasm with Combe's rigor and intellectual ambition, they created a school for magical children that educated the mind and heart together.

Although Warren began teaching at the Salem Institute around 1791, it wasn't until he met Combe that Warren's School was founded in 1822; classes were held in two townhouses at 19 and 20 East 93nd Street. In 1929, the school became officially known as Warren Metropolitan Youth Academy for the Gifted and that same year the board had a new building in place of the original townhouses built.

Since the school was founded, they have graduated almost 2,000 alumnae, expanded their building twice, and adopted new disciplines and means of teaching. But throughout it all, they have retained the same guiding principles that Warren and Combe instilled in those first students: truth, friendship, and loyalty.

Curriculum

Students enroll between the ages of 4-6 and take a standardized course load of Language Arts, Math, Science, Muggle History, Basic Magic Formulations, and Life Skills.
