The Scavenger Part
First Week of Summer, 1941

It would figure Vincenzo would seek out the more stylish accommodations at camp-- with running water and everything. But Leander supposed for someone so particular about his hair, the dry African sun would do the younger boy no favors. Unless he was looking to sprout any more freckles.

Leander smirked to himself at the thought as he entered one of the tents, and tugged on one of the crates suspended magically in the air. Pulling a bag from his pocket, he up-ended them into the crate, scattering orange-red stones carved into the fox-faced, bat-winged humanoid for which the grassland campsite was named. All over someone’s toiletries.

He hoped they were Kedding’s.

SCAVENGER SOCIAL

What, did you think this was just going to the time to take it easy? Grab a bit of shade, maybe a cushion, and then have the ice cream delivered to you?

... well yes, that does sound like quite the idea. But while you're here, you may as well try to look around, eh?

Have no idea what's going on?

At least it wasn't that damn winter weather again ... This was more like summer. It actually reminded her of the Newport summers. Only a bit hotter, but acceptable. It was her chance to head out to swim and get a tan. Whenever these camp counselors would allow everyone else to do what they wanted. Hopefully, that would be often. Naomi had brought a few swimsuits to try them on ...

But first ... this silly scavenger hunt. Apparently, they were supposed to look for rocks. Seriously, couldn't they have a more interesting objective? Like find a ... um ... er ... damn, what would have been more awesome to find? The dark-haired Slytherin pondered momentarily as she approached their compound. Hm ... Maybe some fancy shoes would've been a good objective. Or buckets of ice-cream. Mhm ... Definitely.

Ok, where to start looking? Naomi stared at the interior of the tent, before beginning to look into each of the floating crates. Those were definitely a good place where to hide some rocks. Although she would've preferred to look for ice-cream, instead of some stupid rocks. The camp was supposed to be something cool, not have such a silly thing to do.

Even if the endgame was ice-cream. She wanted ice-cream beforehand. Like now.

Her eyes wondered across to one of her housemates, who she hadn't got to know much about, other than she was brutal competitive on a Quiddich pitch. She smiled but it wasn't very believable. Was this a competition or a test for working together? They were on the same team after all and the truth was here, she didn't have Pandora or Sarah to rely on.

"Hey! Naomi? Wanna work together?"

At this point Naomi was deep into searching the crates lined along the one side of the tent and didn't see to pay her much attention. Reagan decided to check the crates on the other side on the tent, pulling at the toiletries inside and placing them in a neat row before placing them back again, more organised than they previously were.

As if it wasn't enough that the wood floors were probably smoother, the air flow less stifling, even the air inside these Sissy-bows-and-silk tents smells better. Or is it just the very thick and sticky shaving cream that is now leaking all over your hands, Naomi?

Well, whoever comes back to find their things gone through, at least they'll be all straightened up now! Come to think about it, the crate just to your left seems very untidy-- worth a look, don't you think, Reagan?

NO TIME TO CHILLAX!

Hey little ladies, good job trashin  tearing apart touring all that Sassambonsam has to offer. Teamwork is the way to go! You've got the right idea, I'm pretty sure you'll find the right one eventually. Hopefully it'll be before one of the Sassambonsam inhabitants come back...

Disgusting ... What the heck was this thing on her hands? It looked gross and sticky. Naomi grimaced in response and shook off some of the substance, which splattered on the wall nearby. Well, so be it then. Someone else would have to clean that up. She certainly wouldn't do that. The 16 year-old shook off some more of that sticky thing, before turning around towards Reagan.

"That sounds good to me. You wouldn't happen to have a towel, would you?" She showed off the remains of the gross substance on her hands. Some clean-up was definitely required. Hrm ... wait a minute. The crate next to Reagan seemed to be out of order. Did someone fiddle with it before they had come in? Maybe.

Naomi approached and looked inside the crate to Reagan's left, without touching its interior. "Someone's been here ... can you look inside? I don't want to make more of a mess than I already did." Or maybe she should make that mess ... just as retaliation for leaving such crap lying around in an open crate. Decisions, decisions.
Naomi Watson. Deal with it.

"That's quite enough." It was difficult to say just how long he'd been observing the pillaging of his team's tent, but he'd clearly witnessed enough to put his foot down. With his aspen wand clenched in his right hand, it was a struggle to keep it lowered by his side. There was bloody shaving cream smeared across the wall of his tent. Savages.

"Put so much as a pinkie in that crate and I'll have you shoveling erumpent manure from sun up 'til sun down every day for the duration of camp." The scowl that had etched its way onto his face paired with the low, velvety tone of his voice made it perfectly clear that it was a promise rather than an empty threat. "Neither of you are supposed to be in here." Well, unless they had magically grown an extra appendage over night. "This is the boys' tent and you're not even my campers."

Snapping the index finger of his left hand to the shaving cream painted upon the thick tarp walls, green eyes narrowed to mere slits. "Clean it up and get out. Now." If they started debating, he was going to have to dish out some serious punishment.

"That sounds good to me. You wouldn't happen to have a towel, would you?"

Luckily the last crate she had searched had a towel. Careful not to mess up her effort to organize whoever's crate it was, she dipped her hand in to receive it before passing it to her team mate with a smile. Naomi wasn't so bad after all.

Reagan couldn't believe anyone would live in such mess. But then again, they were boys. And where her side was more tidy than before, Naomi had completely trashed the other. "Someone's been here ... can you look inside? I don't want to make more of a mess than I already did."

Reagan nodded, trying to keep quiet before one of the boys came back and caught them sniffing through their things. Her hand pulled it open but as she reached inside. "Put so much as a pinkie in that crate and I'll have you shoveling erumpent manure from sun up 'til sun down every day for the duration of camp."

Her eyes, full of surprise, darted up at the Kedding lad. Her hand was still hanging half inside a crate as he addressed them. What were they going to do now. They needed those stones, they were so close. She turned to Naomi hoping she had an idea, the expression on her face screamed what now?

"Clean it up and get out. Now."

'The cheek of it' she thought. She had spent ages putting things back and making the place cleaner and more pleasant before. He should be shaking her hand and singing her praises, not making threats with manure.

1...2...3..

It was now or never. She forced her hand inside the crate she was about to search. Fiddling her fingers around inside Reagan attempted to collect the stones. If they were there, the plan was snatch and run. Hopefully Naomi would catch on and follow.

Bee had taken a moment looking over the paper with the clues on it. Green eyes dancing over the page as he really wondered if a bunch of ice cream was worth running around the camp.

It was something to do he supposed, and better than sulking.

He had to tell himself, that just because the situation looked hopeless it wasn't. He would be able to leave the camp, and find a chance to leave again when the chance came. It would be a small window of escape, but if he could stockpile enough at camp perhaps he'd be able to do it. The scavenger hunt proved an opportunity, which he doubted the pureblood that set it up had considered. It gave him the chance to scout out the camp, along with perhaps get an idea where to find some of the best hiding places. Of course, the problem with the scavenger hunt was that others were involved either.

Two girls had gotten to the spot before him. He had stood outside watching them through the opening he could see for a moment, deciding it may be best to wait until they were done looking. It would be fair, he supposed. Life was not fair, but this was a game, those should at least have some rules kept. He would have stayed outside if he had not seen a rather incensed individual walk over and then start to yell at those inside.

Jaw tensed for a moment, his brain telling himself to stay out of it, but his body didn't listen. He came into the tent then, visible to all occupants as he had taken a defensive stance, "Well if you have a problem with it, you should probably go talk to the one that organized this."

It was not their fault they were brought here by the clues. Leave it to a pureblood to not really think about how this would affect others at the camp.

Hard green eyes took a moment to study Vincenzo, giving a roll of his eyes as he saw no badge. A look at the girls and it was the same thing.

"Bloody hell..." Purebloods.

Naomi, you manage to find yourself beside Reagan who is searching for the stone.

Snatching the stone and running sounds like a good idea, Reagan. The smooth object in your hand certainly resembles the texture of a stone, but when you pull it out. It showers those in close vicinity (Foster, You, and Vincenzo), with white foam which of course is more shaving cream.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT

Hey ladies and gents, the time for Ice Cream is close at hand. You are so very close to where the rock is found. In fact, it looks like it was knocked out onto the floor. A shiny colored stone is hiding underneath one of the beds. All you got to do is claim it and run. If you can, that is.

There seemed to be a lack of communication here. What did Kedding mean they weren't supposed to be here? This was exactly where the girls were supposed to be. Naomi was about to open her mouth and argue in that direction, but someone beat her to it. Thank you, whoever you are. The dark-haired girl nodded towards him, before adding to it. "Yeah, seriously. You guys don't communicate too well. Some people organize a scavenger hunt and they don't tell other people about it. I seriously suggested you discuss this with Litchfield and whoever else is involved ... And secondly ... who the heck leaves this cream crap lying around in their crate and not in a recipient?"

But, before she could add further, Reagan had grabbed onto something and ... all hell broke loose. More of that crap covered the rest of the people in the area. But, at the same time, something had bounced out and had gone under one of the beds. Naomi had seen a quick glimpse of it, just before staring a bit bewildered at the creamy-covered individuals. Damn, that looked disgusting. Right, since she doubted Kedding would be reasonable about it ...

Naomi went down on her stomach and attempted to grab hold of whatever had gone underneath that bed. Because this was going to get out of hand rather quickly, with Kedding covered in that thing. He seemed to have the tendency to flip out first and think later. Better be quick and get out.
