Aethelstan glared at the mud boy. He had called him 'Stan'. 'Stan' was not, in any way, shape, or form. It was Aethelstan. Named after the king of England. Why that boy even considered calling him 'Stan' was beyond him. If this was a normal circumstance, IE, not on broomsticks, then he would march over and correct him right away. But seeing as it was during a match, that probably would not be the best of plans.

The Snowmen came to life and started throwing snowballs as well. He had thought there was something suspicious of them. Why would someone had spent the time building them on the pitch if they were not going to do anything. Keeping that in mind, Aethelstan divided a portion of his attention to making sure none of the snowballs were headed towards him.

At least they had scored. Maybe they wouldn't need him after all. They had possession of the Quaffle again, but it was in the hands of mud-boy, and he seemed to be frozen in a figurative sense. He heard a voice from above him. The other team's Seeker. She was asking one of her own players if they had seen the snitch. All Aethelstan could do was put his hand to his face, and shake his head.

Keeping his eyes peeled for the golden ball, he rose up so he was beside the opposing Seeker. "You haven't found the Snitch yet?" He asked conversationally. Perhaps he could keep her distracted while he looked for it.

For goodness sake.

Her team could not even keep possession of the ball for a few second because before she knew it, it was back in the other team's hands. Naomi had thrown the ball to a younger boy (Peter? Pervis? Denise didn't know or particularly care) and he had caught it squarely in his chest.

"That's the kind of passing we need!" she screamed out while pointing frantically at the opposing chasers, her voice getting louder and louder with each command she sent out to her team. "Interception people!" She cried out again. Oooh. Giving commands was quite exciting.

She didn't mean to be harsh, it was just that she enjoyed winning and planned on winning her first Quidditch game as a captain. That would be a nice thing to write and tell Kaitlyn but Denise was beginning to doubt that they would ever score a goal. Now, that wouldn't be a good story.

She just needed to make sure that the opposing team didn't scored anymore goals which was very possible as that Petri boy seemed to be ready to attack. All she had to do was concentrate. Focus. She needed to block that Quaffle as though her life depended on it.

She felt her hair blowing frantically in the cold winter breeze and pulled a disgruntled face. If she had to stay out here in the cold, then they were going to win.

And that was final.

Percy Marlowe

Horntail Chaser

Maybe this was where reading all the books that Gaz read came into handy. Percy thought that Gaz probably knew more about this throwing ball game than he did - he'd caught him reading something about ages once and it had pictures like the red ball he was holding in his hands right now.

At least no one was trying to hit him. If they tried to hit him he'd simply hit back and if he was lucky Robbie would creep out and bite the other person, but only if he was very lucky because Robbie had the temperament of a sleepy grandma.

"Go Marlowe! Get it in the hoops!"

Someone was screaming at him. Percy turned, wondering if it was that weird boy Stan who seemed like he really wanted to scream at him. Evidently not; it was one of his Captains c-a-p-t-e-n and Captains had to be obeyed, didn't they?

The girl just now had thrown it at the hoops so this time again he zoomed forward towards those weird round things and threw the ball, with all his might, at the left hoop. It was kind of like basketball, if you thought about it, except the holes were horizontal and not vertical. It was also kind of like football, except the goal was basketball hoops and you could throw things instead. Whether it was easier than basketball or football depended entirely on whether the ball went in or not.

Percy hoped it would be easier.

OOOH Quidditch! And guess what, Samantha was on the team, playing.  Oh boy would her nanny be soooooo furious with her and be yelling and screaming at her bloody murder for not being ladylike, again.

Unfortunately, Samantha had been so excited, that for most of the game up until now, she had been in lalala land chasing after what she thought were birds venturing forth in the cold wintery temperatures, looking for a bit to eat.  But then she realized, she better get on task before she got subbed out.  The game had moved so quickly!

Samantha hadn't realized her team had even scored.  Oops.  Bad.

She refocused and got her head back into he game and as she saw Percy trying to move in for a school, she pulled up nearby in case he needed to toss it to her.

"Sorry about that!  I won't get distracted anymore!  So sorry! I'm here if you need me,"  she called out to Percy and the other Chaser on her team.

Before she could say anything else, the boy had taken a shot and Samantha moved closer in case the shot was deflected, so she could recover it.

(OOC:  Sorry for the delay!  I didn't know the game had even started nor that I was even on it until tonight!)
The journey is the reward.

What was that kid clutching the red ball for? Didn't he know what he was supposed to do with it? Thankfully, their team captain had hollered the instructions. Rather simple one. Throw the quaffle at the hoops. And what the heck was that girl doing taking the bludger off the opponent? Naomi felt like slapping her own forehead. The team was clearly made up of inexperienced youngsters ... But, since it was 'summer', the brunette decided to cut them some slack. But not too much.

Since the other two chasers on her team were closer to the hoops, Naomi decided to perform a muggle sports move. She was pretty sure this one was allowed in Quidditch. The brunette placed herself in front of Fitzgerald, attempting to block her advance towards the hoops and allow her teammates to get to the red ball first. Sort of an interference from muggle sports. She wasn't sure which sport that was from, but she could care less at this point. The idea was just to give her fellow chasers an extra few seconds, in case the ball would get thrown back into play.

And Naomi allowed herself a verbal impulse towards the team too. "Let's go, Horntails! Come on!" Just because she could do so. What, only the captains were allowed? She doubted that.

This was it. This was her time to shine. This was her time to show to her team and to herself that she was competent.

She could see that Petri boy throwing to Quaffle towards her. Light brown eyes followed the ball through the blistering cold air, making sure that they didn't break contact with it.

There was a massive swerve towards the left and she managed to block the Quaffle with her body. Was that it? Was that good enough.

Her eyes dropped to see that the Quaffle was falling downwards at an extremely fast speed. Maybe she should have caught that. that would have helped just a bit.

"Chasers go!" she shrieked, her little hands waving frantically at the descending Quaffle. "Make sure they don't get it again!" Again with the orders that shewas getting better and better at giving.

Her robes were ruffled and her hair was basically ruined for the rest of the week. Merlin, Quidditch was brutal.

This was not going good. At all. Not only was their team lagging behind points and working together, but Zoey was not doing great to redeem herself. All she had managed to do this game was get yelled at, push Ana away from a bludger, and get hit in the face with a snowball.

And because of that, all the game resulted in so far was hurt pride, and a stinging cheek.

She was trying to shake it off, as Percy (of all people?!) managed to get a goal in. She knew after the game she'd probably be congratulating the boy - it was his first game and he was playing fairly decent even if he was easily distracted. Better than Zoey was when she was trying to focus!

She saw the ball start to fall as it went through the hoops and Zoey immediately sped after it, scooping it up and tucking it under her arms. With that she began to speed down toward the opposite end of the pitch. There wasn't anything going to distract her this time! Not bludger, nor player, nor anything anyone said. Maybe, if she was lucky, she could catch a break.

That wasn't fun.

How come the Keeper-girl had blocked his throw but hadn't blocked the previous girl's? He'd thrown it as hard as he possibly could, but evidently it hadn't been good enough. Percy frowned and pouted. He wanted a second shot.

The Quaffle-ball was falling and Percy pushed his broom downwards, chasing the ball, intent on getting it back again to get a second try. Certainly he wasn't going to be put off by not getting it in the first time. If anything it only strengthened his determination to get that bloody ball back in his arms and chuck it.

Da -

Percy very nearly used one of the swear words he'd learnt as Zoey came and plucked it off of him, almost when he'd just gotten there. That wasn't fun. This wasn't fun. Percy turned hard and pulled up besides Zoey, trying to grab the ball from her hands.

"Gimme, Zoey!" he demanded fiercely. "I need a second try."

Well, bummer, the shot had gotten blocked. Nothing to blame on the Marlowe boy, he had given it a good try. "Don't worry about it ... You'll get it next time." By the time she got towards the red ball, another Ridgeback chaser had gotten to it first and was already heading towards the opposite end of the pitch.

By this time, in the States, the Quod would've blown up and would've sent this girl on the bench. But this wasn't Quodpot. Probably better, with all the big black balls flying around. The last thing they would've needed was the red ball to blow up too. And that little golden ball ... it was so small and so fast ... It would probably take a few good hours for those Seekers people to find it.

Right, better help that Marlowe kid. Taking the advantage that she was ahead of both of them, Naomi went to the side and cut off Zoey's path, attempting to block her advance towards the other end of the pitch. That would probably give the boy some time to get hold of the red ball. Now all he needed to do was steal it ... Easier said than done.

"Oi!" Charlie felt a rather large snowball hit him at the back, dsitracting him anything going on in the game. "Ya bloody bafoons, not at me, at the-" And, just to silence him, another snowball collided with his face.

You think those snowmen were done?

Oh no, the snowmen were far from done, and began hurling more snowballs. This time particularly large ones were aim for Percy, Naomi, Denise, and Samantha!

Zoey was speeding toward the other end of the pitch, Quaffle tucked as tight as she could under her arm. It was how she tucked her cat Oliver under there, and that little creature liked to squirm. The Quaffle couldn't squirm though, and was much easier to hold on to, even while flying.

So this was why people loved Quidditch! The girl felt elated, even while being chased by the other team. Her heart leapt with excitement that was only fueled by the fact that both Percy and Naomi were on her tail.

She leaned away from Percy as she tried to grab the ball, trying to hold it clean out of his reach. "You got your chance Percy! It's my turn now!" she said in a 'you have to share' tone, as though she were taking a treat away from a younger sibling.

She didn't even know where the bludgers were, or her fellow chasers. No one from her team seemed to be around. The snowmen were still throwing snowballs but, thankfully, not at Zoey. She was given a break for the first time in this game...until Naomi tried to block her.

She was so close to the Horntail hoops too! There was barely time to think.

While Naomi swerved in front to try and block her, Zoey jerked her broom up in surprise. That was the wonderful thing about flying; it wasn't just side to side one could go. She could escape up! And up she went, keeping her forward momentum toward the opposite end which gave her an odd-angled opening toward the Horntail hoops.

She doubted she would get another chance, so the girl lobbed the quaffle toward the center hoop, hoping the unusual angle would be to her advantage.

It was all very awkward movement, clearly from a beginner in flying but if she could score a point, even one, maybe she could redeem herself in this game!

Obviously, the only way to go was up. The brunette didn't even blink when the younger girl swerved upwards. One couldn't really block every available option. Plus it would be rather dangerous. She wasn't even paid to play Quidditch. For injuries, she would've expected compensation. Besides the trip to the Infirmary ... Obviously. Naomi shook her head and called out to their keeper ... "Hey Santos ... Incoming!" Just in case he wasn't looking ...

Speaking of not looking, she felt a rather harsh impact on her shoulder. It wasn't harsh enough to be from one of the black balls. Apparently those were metallic, so they should've hurt more than this. No, it was the ... Hey ... Another snowball whizzed over her head. Bloody snowmen. If this was how they wanted to play ... Since she wasn't far from the ground, the brunette came down towards the pitch and grabbed hold of some snow.

Naomi knew how to make snowballs and also knew how to throw them. Just because she was a girl, that didn't mean she would be helpless. Without further ado, she threw the snowball at the nearest snowman, before repeating the feat and then getting back on her broom, taking off towards the game.

She'd lost track of the bludger she hit and had been circling aimlessly on her broom, waiting for one to make itself known. That was when the snowballs had begun flying in earnest as if the snowmen suddenly had a grudge.

Charlie wasn't any help.

Payton couldn't help but giggle as he got hit with not one, but two snowballs, the latter of which ended up giving him a mouthful of snow. Blue eyes widened though as more and more snow filled the air, making it almost blizzard-worthy weather.

With a yelp, the Ravenclaw ducked a few medium sized balls that came her way and grimaced, flying higher to avoid the thick of the attack.

She chased down the bludger Bread and sent it whirling towards a particularly large snowball heading towards Percy. She could only hope that the thing would explode on impact with hard metal and then the younger chaser wouldn't have to deal with being hit.

She would have appreciated it, had she been in his position.

Turning she looked for the other bludger Coal and, upon finding it, swung hard, angling for one of the snowmen. Perhaps without their heads, they wouldn't be so keen on pelting innocent Quidditch players with snow.

Serves Charlie right for his mischief.

Ridgeback beater

Joelle was conflicted as one of her best friends was on the opposing team and summer quidditch wasn't worth hurting Payton for and possibly taking her out for the Ravenclaw games once the term started. Not to mention the beater's bat felt awkward in her hand and she didn't like playing beater.

Joelle flew into the path of bludger Coal that was headed for a snowman and with her bat gave it a sound whack towards some unfamiliar boy(Percy Marlowe) then she flew directly at one of the attacking snowmen and swung her bat at it,hoping to knock it down and put it out of commission.

That was actually more satisfying for the raven than aiming a ball at another student. Joelle was not one to hurt anyone which was probably why she was having so much trouble playing this position.

Joelle looked around for Bread to see if she needed to protect a teammate because she would much rather hit snowmen.

What the...?

What on earth was that? Hazel eyes frantically searched for the source of the searing cold that had just crashed onto her face and had probably ruined her make up. A... a snowball? Why they had decided to put snowmen throwing snowballs on a Quidditch pitch was beyond her. First of all, it wasn't even Christmas, it was Summer for goodness sake! This was why she didn't play Quidditch at school, too many weird things happened in matches and Denise couldn't deal with that.

She wasn't one of those sporty girls who could do all sorts of tricks with a broom and could run fast and play muggle sports. She was a proper girl who liked clothes and make up and socializing. She wasn't cut out for all of these snowballing snowmen. Eww. Just eww.

After wiping her face while trying her best to dodge those pesky snowmen, she spotted Zoey heading towards the hoops. "Yes! Go Arnette!" She screamed out as loud as she could. This could be them actually catching up with the Horntails.

She grinned as she saw the young girl through the Quaffle towards the hoops. now all it needed to do was go in and they would be on there way to win.

But where was that Seeker? Denise wanted this to end as soon as possible because it was getting too cold for her to cope.

The Marlowe lad listened to him, a took the shot at the hoops. Unfortunately the Ridgeback Captain was on her game and managed to block it away from the gold hoop. Diego grumbled curses under his breath before shouting encouragment across the pitch.

"Well done kid... we will get them next time!"

The Quaffle fell from the skies, and the Arnette girl retrieved it. The young Ridgeback player was eager to say the least. She shot of down the pitch fighting off his teams chasers on the way, and there attempts to block her from advancing.

Diego prepared himself, he knew she was going to take a shot whether it would be successful or not lay on his shoulders. He wasnt about to allow a first year to get a goal past him. Pulling his gloved hands tighter around the handle of his broom he hovered in front for the middle hoop and braced himself.

Luckily she threw the quaffle straight for him. Had she not noticed he was covering that hoop? It was at a slight strained angle but Diego had full confidence in been able to avoid a Ridgeback goal. Pulling his broom round he hit the Quaffle with the bristles hard and fast, sending it flying outwards back into the game.

She shouldn't have felt so disappointed that her goal attempt wasn't successful. She was a first year after all, this was the first time she had ever played Quidditch, and the first time she flew on a team in any kind of group activity. Trying to hold the ball and fly felt awkward, and despite the angle she hoped would help her, the Horntail keeper managed to move in front of the ball in time.

Darn.

Zoey hovered on her broom, sinking down a few feet. Looking down at the hoops in disappointment it took her a couple of moment to register what was happening next.

Diego had swung his broom, and hit the Quaffle with the tail end. The red ball flung back out into the field and... wait... was that heading straight for her? Did he really just hit the ball back out right at her?

She put one hand up to shield her face instinctively, but the Quaffle hit her in the stomach instead. Her free hand went down to grab her stomach in pain, and instead felt something hard. The Quaffle! She had the Quaffle again!

Although she couldn't call out her excitement, as the wind had gotten knocked out of her, she definitely felt it. But for now she was busy trying to gasp and catch her breath. She looked around frantically for someone on her team to pass (or drop) the ball too. She needed a moment to catch her breath and, well considering she couldn't get a goal in when she thought she was doing good, she doubted whether she'd be able to while gasping to catch her breath.

Being caught up in the scrap with the snowmen, that had meant Naomi had pretty much missed their keeper's block on the quaffle. But why hadn't any of the other Horntail chasers reacted to that? The brunette shook her head and went off towards the red ball. Just as one of the opposing chasers was about to collect it. It was the 'broom-grabbing' girl again ... Yeah, that just wasn't going to work.

Snowballs from the ground. Black balls from the air. It was just getting a bit too crowded. Shouldn't the ref stop the game and get those bloody snowmen out of here? Naomi doubted that he would do so. Heck, he didn't even call a foul earlier, when it had been so obvious. Did he even know the rules of this game or had he been put ref for whatever other reason? Anything was possible.

The brunette swerved towards the left, in the direction of the girl that had the red ball now. Were collisions between players allowed? There seemed to be a thin line between 'allowed collisions' and 'disallowed collisions'. Naomi didn't have that much force, but the extra speed she had now would've probably pushed the other girl of the broom. That would've definitely been a 'disallowed' one. Hence why the brunette slowed down next to the girl (Zoey) and attempt to swipe the red ball from her. "Stop hogging the ball ... Others want to touch it too, you know."
Naomi Watson. Deal with it.
