Name: Caroline Sage Wu

Birthday: March 15, 1945

Hometown: London

Bloodline:
Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination

Year (pick two):
Second Year & Third Year

Biography:
Caroline was born in 1945 and was very clumsy as a toddler. She still has a scab on her knee from the one time she was trying to run and tripped on the drains at the swimming pool. She grew up immersed in both the muggle and wizarding world because they thought it would be a good idea for their child to know about muggle technology(though her parents had loads of trouble with the 'fellytone' at first), and she ended up exploding many a Nokia with her experiments trying to make technology work. Caroline has three friends, all of which go to Hogwarts. She didn't want to go though, so she was homeschooled for her first two years before her parents insisted she get herself 'out of your room and out to socialise without any books!' She likes to read (a lot) and is extroverted, but prone to stuttering around strangers. She's trying to stop stuttering as much, though. She is also a little reckless when it comes to defending her friends, and she is very loyal. Caroline is quite ambitious when it comes to her experiments, and she is currently trying to understand how magic works (yes, she knows others have theories, Caroline just won't listen to them, seeing as she wants to figure it out herself)

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request:
Ravenclaw?

Personality:
Um, Caroline is very shy around people she doesn't know and stutters a lot, but once you get to know her, she can't really stop talking about anything and everything. She likes to stay in the dorms as much as possible, but she isn't averse to going outside; its more just she doesn't see the purpose in going outside to do the same thing. She is a little possessive of her friends (of which she has a few) and doesn't like Quidditch.

Appearance:
She's average in terms of height and a little skinny, with short black hair and brown eyes.

You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character. Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not Evangeline's or Hugh's.

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

REPLY:

"S-sorry," Caroline said. "I-I was just sitting here, a-a-and then you came, and it was a little... u-um... entertaining. D-do you need help with your r-rat?" Caroline whispered. "H-he- she? ran th-that way."

Hi Caroline,

Your application looks good so far, there's just a few things we'll need you to edit before we can get your accepted.

Firstly, if you want Caroline to be a second year, her birth year will be 1947, not 1945 (and 1946 if she gets put in third year instead). If you can edit this so that this is correct, that would be great.

Secondly, you mention that Caroline exploded Nokia phones during her childhood whilst trying to make them work. Although Nokia existed as a company in 1960, they didn't start making phones until the 1970s. If you just change this reference to Caroline exploding 'electronics' that would solve this!

Thirdly, your RP sample just needs to be a little bit longer. Usually, we ask for 3x3 responses (at least 3 paragraphs, where each paragraph is made up of at least 3 sentences) -- this ensures that you give the other player (in this case, Hugh) enough to respond to. Your dialogue for the RP sample is really great and gives him a lot to work with, so no need to change any of that! If you could add a few lines more, for example describing what Caroline is doing before Hugh arrives (maybe she's sitting in the garden reading? Going on a walk?) or how she feels when Hugh talks to her (scared? Nervous? Offended?), then this would make your response a good length and give Hugh's 'player' a feel for your character.

Once you've made the required changes, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. If you have any questions about any of the above, please feel free to message me either via PM or via Discord (Yas#4887). I'm also going to archive your Elsewhere application as you now have a student application being processed. Thanks!

There was a book in her lap about beginning Norse Runes and another few next to her, all as tidy as old, messy, used library books can be. One seemed to be some sort of muggle literature, the other a book called 'the Beginner's Guide to Divination by Prometheus' and lastly, a notebook with some runes as the title. There was a piece of paper filled with clean neat handwriting that gradually evolved into what seemed to be her natural hasty scrawl, connecting things that shouldn't make sense except they did. Caroline seemed on the edge of understanding something that had to do with... cotton? Then there was the other stuff. What even was that drawing in the margins? It looked like a cross between a quill and an entrumpet.

Is this good?

Hi Caroline,

Thanks for making those edits! Your biography and your RP sample look great now.

Your birth year is still wrong for your preferred year, though, I just realised I gave you the wrong information for that! Sorry about the confusion there. You can see here for the birth year guide. If you want Caroline to be going into her third year (as the preferred year) and her birthday is in March, her birth year will be 1947. If you'd rather have her come in as a fourth year (with third year as a back-up option), then her birthday can remain as 1946.

If you can change the 'Birthday' section and the first line of your biography to 1947 or change your preferred year to Fourth Year (depending on whether you want to change your birth year or school year) that will resolve the conflict!

Please repost your entire revised application (make sure you copy/paste the second version of your application and not the first), then we can go ahead and get you accepted! Thanks!
