Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Sophia was born on the 20th of April to Marilyn Darcy and Alfred Darcy, their second-born, but first daughter.  To say she was treated like a princess, was almost an understatement.  And Sophia grew to act like one, too.

Her older brother, Edward, was only two years her senior.  Growing up as the second child, and first daughter, in the Darcy household was quite the interesting experience.  She and Edward complete opposites, Sophia the angel to his devil.  She was the golden child and he was...himself.  In some ways, Sophia was quietly jealous of him for stealing any attention from her.  Mostly, though, she loved him as his personality paved her way to being the golden child.  The golden child, who grew up "innocently" tattling on her older brother whenever she would get the chance, always discretely curious to put her nose into his business.  He was entertaining to witness and throwing him under the bus could even be more entertainment.

Sophia idolized her mother.  Marilyn was the epitome of elegance and grace, values which she was raised to believe were the utmost importance.  Sophia grew to be her mother's favorite, naturally.  However, the birth of her younger sister, Clara, lit a fire of jealousy in Sophia that she had never known before.  Sophia was secretly scared to lose her place as the golden child.

Theo, her junior by 3 years, had been a fine addition to the family.  They got along as well as siblings could in her household, by her definition.  But this littlest one...Clara, was her competition, just by the biological fact that Clara had a space between her legs.  Another female, the potential to be her mother's doll, her new treasure.  Sophia took to doting on her youngest sister, as open jealousy was unbecoming, she inherently knew.  From the age of 5, Sophia hid her jealousy by treating her little sister like her little, doll.  If she established a closeness with her, then maybe her mother wouldn't and would just love Sophia more.

It wasn't too long before it was clear that her little sister was nobody's doll.  To Sophia's pleasure, her sister was anything but a doll, despite Sophia and Marilyn's best efforts.  Clara wanted to be Minister of Magic, a declaration that cause Sophia to stifle a laugh.  How ridiculous.  Why would she want such a job?  To be like her mother, without a job, living a life of riches and elegance.  Why wouldn't anyone want that life?  That was the ultimate goal.

With that goal, came a lot of pressure - pressure from Marilyn and pressure from her own self.  If Sophia ever stepped wrong, even dipped her toe into the wrong pool, she would be the first to suffer her mother's temper.  And as Sophia entered Hogwarts, as a Slytherin, there were many things she did, although unbeknownst to her mother, that would have been considering dipping her toe into the wrong pool.  You see, Sophia was meant to be a sophisticated young lady and find someone at Hogwarts to impress and further marry.  However, Sophia was a bit...boy-crazy.  So many boys.  So little time.

Now, that didn't mean Sophia earned herself a reputation.  She had been educated by her mother on the ways to manipulate a man, the ways a woman could hold power.
Sophia reveled in that part.  The manipulation, the control, the game.  She wanted to keep playing the game and have it be the most interesting it could be, which didn't mean monogamy or settling down to be a socialite wife by 18.  Sophia enjoyed being chased much more than she enjoyed being caught, which meant she would have to play this dating game for at least a few more years after Hogwarts.  Plus, her standards were...high, to say the least.

After making connections, doing fairly well academically, and honing her skills of social manipulation at Hogwarts, Sophia was permitted to use some of her inheritance to open an upscale clothing shop, geared towards special occasions.  It would help further her connections, and Sophia had always had an eye for beautiful things.  Her life was going to be so perfect...

Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
Sophia opened the black box on her desk with care, taking three steps back and lifting her left hand, whispering, "Wingardium Leviosia."  A dainty porcelain cup of hot tea floated at her right shoulder, Sophia raising her manicured hand to hold it.  She blew on it softly, before sipping on it, thoughtfully.  After exactly two ponderously long sips, she let the cup go, the cup automatically floating, in wait, by her right shoulder.  Her walnut brown eyes scanned the dress up and down, twirling her wand in her left hand so that the dress spun, slowly, allowing for a full inspection.  She tilted her head to one side in an evaluatory manner, flicking her wand again so that the dress would stop spinning.
Sophia took a step closer and reached out her right hand to feel the lace between her fingers, a pleased smirk appearing on her lips. This will do just fine, won't it? she mused aloud to herself.

She flicked her wand, turning on her heel, exiting the back room, the dress gliding along behind her, the tea cup still hovering near to her right shoulder.  The blonde-haired woman smoothed a hand down her own dress before entering the showroom, giving a polite nod to a customer who was being helped by her half-idiot, though very pretty (albeit not prettier than herself, because she just couldn't have that), intern.  With another minute flick of her wand, the dress went gliding past her, into the front window, where it floated on display, gracefully.

Her heals clicked almost melodiously as she walked towards the door, flicking her wand so it would open.  Sophia glided out the door, gently seizing her cup so that she could finish sipping her tea while she inspected the newest addition to the window display from the outside.  She glided elegantly through the crowds, heels perfectly balanced on the cobblestone street.  The crowds flowed around her as she looked at the dress expensive lace number in the window, sipping on her tea.  Sophia imagined women stopping to stare most wantingly at the new, expensive, addition to the shop window.  A barely detectable, pleased-with-herself-smile, played upon her lips, until her thoughts were abruptly interrupted with a cacophonous sound from the crowd.

Sophia turned around, eyes narrowing through the crowds slightly at the thing on the street, aka Amelia Nixon.  Sophia sighed, bothered.  The blonde flicked her wand, her now empty tea cup floating towards the door, which opened, the tea cup sailing inside toward the backroom.  In the same instance, Sophia walked toward the weak woman, a man nearly bumping into her, though an apology was quickly uttered in her direction.  She stared down at the woman, not one to lower herself, metaphorically or literally, and pointed her wand at the woman's shoe, "Reparo."  "Grace is beauty", was the phrase of her mother's that exited her mouth, before she walked away from the woman without a word and back into her shop.

Hi Sophia, welcome to the site!

Your application looks great, there's just one thing we'll need you to edit before we can get you accepted.

At the end of your RP sample, you have Sophia walk away back into her shop. If this were a real thread, this would leave Amelia's player with very limited options to continue the thread. If you could amend the last sentence to have Sophia stay in the interaction (she could simply be turning away, but not exit quite yet), that would resolve this issue.

Once you've made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. Thanks!
