Application for Hogwarts School

Name: Blaise Cassius Black

Birthday: 19 June 1947

Hometown: London,

Muggleborn / Halfblood / Pureblood / Unknown

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): First (preferred), Second.

The Black name held more weight in gold than most any other pureblood in the country. Despite the curse that attached onto the men of the family, there was a false sense of safety that came with the name. It was no secret amongst the most elite of purebloods that the Black family dabbled in the dark arts, and ran illegal dealings in the darkest corners of England. Each branch of the elder family had its own part of the business, and it would soon be something that the young Black boy would take part of.

His father, Markus, was a strong man in every sense of the word. Determined, respected, and slightly pretentious described the man to near perfection. Anya Shaw, a pureblood from Jamaica, had been engaged to the English man as a means to join the two families businesses. The marriage hadn't been completely blissful, but that was normal, or so the woman had told herself.

As a result of their union, four children had been born. Blaise, the eldest and sole heir, had felt the sting of his father far more often for his headstrong and stubborn behavior. Then came Xavier ten months later, followed by Everleigh two years ago and finally, Gerald eleven months after her.

The siblings are all quite close, despite their differing personalities.

House Request: Slytherin

At this age, Blaise is the typical pureblood prat. He's in the mindset that anyone that isn't a pureblood is below him, and those that aren't in his family's circle aren't worthy of his time. He knows that his father demands perfection, and the boy is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve it, regardless of who is in his way.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

If Blaise Black enjoyed anything more than chocolate frogs, it was scaring other students. The surprise on their face, the jump in their step, and the occasional shriek of girls always brought a grin to his features. And hearing a young girl's voice brought the mischief, or cruelty as Thea always said, straight to the surface. So, instead of heading to the common room, he crept towards the soft, shaking voice instead.

When she first called out, the boy had to cover his mouth from snickering out loud and letting her know his location. But as his feet carried him closer and closer, the final question rang between the pair unknowingly before he jumped out from the wall with his arms outstretched.

"AHH!" he yelled in an attempt to scare her.
