Application for Hogwarts School

Name: Findlay O’Brien-Razi

Birthday: November 9th, 1943

Hometown: London England

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): Third (should be) / Second (left back) - no preference, let fate decide

Fin wanted to be just like his mother when he grew up.  He wanted to be an Auror that traveled the world fighting and hunting down bad guys.  He read his mother’s journal once with his twin brother Kieran and she was hunting down some murderer when she left them - which was often.  It was so cool and she was so brave, she’d even fought in a duel and won it.  If only they’d not gotten caught they could have learned more and helped her out so she’d be home more.  However his mother didn’t seem to want help, instead she just left them all with there dad who was boring a lot of the time.

His father went to work at St. Mungo’s most days, and studied tomes of books as he did medical experiments to find a cure for squib-ness.  Naturally he’d learned to run when his father wanted help as it either required assisting in brewing a boring potion, or worse being poked with something so his father could get a sample of pureblood.  The only redeeming thing about his father was he took them all sorts of cool place even if it required wearing layers and gloves to ensure they didn’t catch anything. Plus, he got to hang out with his siblings, and the other O’Brien family members as there floo in London was practically connected to the one in the house in Ireland.

The fact his father was a Slytherin and his mother a Ravenclaw was something he couldn’t comprehend as he thought they should have been swapped.  It made him wonder what that mythical sorting hat at Hogwarts really knew.  Hopefully not much, as even he knew him and his twin had mostly looks in common.

The easiest way to tell him and Kieran apart was whichever one had a book closer to him or wasn’t fast enough to escape potion brewing was probably Kieran.  Sometimes he felt bad his brother wasn’t as quick and smart as he was, and got dragged into boring things due to it.  The catch was, even for his twin, he wasn’t going to sacrifice the opportunity for an adventure that was just outside there apartment in wizarding London to be stuck doing something boring.  Naturally, if he found something good he’d try to go back to fetch his brother, and if Kieran did miss it he spent hours rambling on about it later to ensure Kieran at least knew of it.  Exceptions were made for adventures that resulted in his embarrassment which resulted in one of those rare times he kept his mouth shut unless asked about it.

All he knew, was he was planning to be in the same house as Kieran. They’d practiced for hours getting all the answers to every question imaginable the same, but he got bored when they’d realized just how many questions were imaginable.  In the end he decided they’d cheat and just answer a firm predetermined pattern of yes and no irregardless of the question that the hat asked.  Naturally, probably to the annoyance of Kieran, he’d remind his twin of the decision and pattern he’d decided on until Kieran got so sick of hearing it that Kieran would go along with it.  After all, if they didn’t end up in the same house Kieran would probably become as serious as their parents.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: He was in Slytherin… I’d laugh if he got re-sorted ( but it would be ohh so funny…  do it! )

How your character kept up with their studies: He continued his studies at Hogwarts, and was rubbish at it.  His grades seemed to drop to Troll levels as he got even less interested in classes in his second year, as he got more frustrated he couldn’t do magic as well as the smart kids.  Class became embarrassing demonstration of how he wasn’t good enough.

Option 2:

He was more for the outside than the inside of the castle during the day.  After all, when it was light out there was always some class he was supposed to be remembering to go to.  At least Kieran kept decent track of classes, even if he only heard about them later as there was something more exciting.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?”

He wasn’t a fan of rats. They were small and they had a tendency to eat anything which meant they’d rub there faces in dirty things.  At least when cats did the same they had the decency to clean themselves.  Still he looked around for the creature, as the sooner it was found the quicker it would be away from plants that could wind up in Kieran’s cauldron - or worse his cauldron.  He really needed to check where his brother sourced his ingredients.

"Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare.”

Looking at the older boy he took a few steps back.  He said “ I was going to help you look for your rat snot rocket, but here. “ as he reached in his pockets and pulled out a plain handkerchief.  Then he continued “ Keep it. “  He certainly didn’t want it back, he just wanted to go take a shower just inc ase any of the other boys germs had leapt to attack him.
