CHARACTER INFORMATIONCharacter name:
Edith RaziPrevious and/or Current Character(s) if applicable:
Oliver Razi and co.Character age:
Hogwarts - RavenclawStrength and weaknesses (details please):
Physically Edith isn't very strong. In fact she is rather skinny and almost doll like - especially if she wears make-up that makes her slightly more pale. Where her strengths lie are within her mind. She is a firm believer in cause and effect. With the tracing of such being her greatest strength. Even if such tracing could be seen as a weakness as it sometimes makes people think she is crazy. Especially as she is rather careful about who and what she lets come in physical contact with herself.
As far as applying to Hogwarts as a professor she has a rather weak application. Her previous work experience is jobs taken to further research interests she was pursuing at various moments in her life - and last as long as they furthered her interests. She has been a librarian in a research library where she quit working once she had her house elves make copies of the manuscripts she'd need later and were not accessible to the general public. She had been a maker of Voodoo dolls at one point as she was studying how they were used and made. Then she found one that someone had made that resembled her a bit to much took it and left the area quickly. After all, the impact of magic like that of Voodoo dolls was greatly impacted for distance. She had been a wizarding astronomer during an affair she was having once many years ago. She had been an independent diviner in many locations in the world while pursuing her interests. Actually she still does work as an independent diviner as she always finds it interesting the questions people care about as far as there future is concerned. The one positive thing she has is she wrote some manuscripts which she sent home and her father had edited into books on different types, approaches, and theories about the art of divination throughout the world. Of course she looked at the titles of the books she supposedly wrote and wasn't interested enough in them to read beyond the title to the part where her name was the author.Physical description:
Edith is rather skinny and almost doll like in an androgynous sort of way. So much so that when she was little her siblings used to dress her up and put make up on her. Which unlike most kids who were subject to such she rather enjoyed and her personal style sometimes reflects that. Her hair is naturally short and dark brown, however on occasion just for fun she will use hair potions, hair gels, and transfigurations to make her hair in different styles. In addition she will occasionally apply bright eyeshadow. She finds it fun to change her outer appearance finding different peoples reactions interesting. Often she wears rather plain clothes with splashes of color and stripes.
Even though she is very cautious about what she comes in physical contact with she does not wear gloves or any other outer protection. Though sometimes she puts a sanitizing potion on her hands that on occasion can give them an almost wax like feeling - complete with an odd shine. Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.):
Her personality is very much a function of her odd quirks. She is wary of physical contact with new individuals or things so sometimes can seem standoffish. Often once she feels someone gives off positive energy she'll be less wary of physical contact - though always cautious. Since a child she has always been rather focused on things that interest her - and her interests are sometimes fleeting. Which translates in her personality by favoring people that interest her and treating others with polite disinterest (or impolite if they are in her way). She tends to leave or abandon things, sometimes abruptly, when they no longer interest her if she sees something else that interests her.Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?:
Edith's hopes and dreams didn't lead her to Hogwarts - logic did. Up until now since graduating Hogwarts she has been traveling to different places and living there studying types of magic that interested her. Often these places were far from England and the expectations of her family. Expectations that if the wrong one of her children were chosen for the random blood purity tests that it would be obvious she didn't live up to. As her children got older she knew the risk of her indiscretions being revealed got older. So it was only logical to find a situation where she could continue to research her interests and be enough in the public that should anything untold happen it wouldn't be as easy to cover up.
Logically getting a job at Hogwarts fit. Professors were known by enough individuals in the wizarding community that the profession had visibility. It also logically had flexibility as after she had taught her classes no one cared what she researched - plus older students could make decent research assistants. Even more as her kids were entering Hogwarts she could observe them on this journey as well. Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):
Her childhood prior to Hogwarts was typical for a young girl from a pureblooded wizarding family of high means, who had a father who spent more time at the ministry trying to rise than at home. She had private tutors, siblings, and when she pouted she would get whatever she wanted. Which when she was younger was a combination of books, dolls, and hair ties. It was only when she was older and wanted bigger things that she stopped getting what she wanted. However the expectation that she'd get what she wanted never went away.
Entering Hogwarts she was sorted into Ravenclaw after the hat sat on her head long enough to mess up her hair causing her to spend nearly half of the opening feast fixing it. The hat had wasted her time by saying something about how while Slytherin could have made her great that Ravenclaw would free her to truly unlock her curiosities. It made no sense to her, but she was thankful not to have to wear green as it sometimes could reflect badly and give her skin a slight green tint. Or at least she was convinced it would, and still doesn't wear certain shades of green without a proper base coat of make-up on her face.
Edith's time at Hogwarts was a slow transition from the slightly spoiled little girl that had to look perfect that entered Hogwarts to the confident, curious, and slightly odd young lady that graduated. Her interests quickly went to things that were more theoretical and required putting things together to come up with a final conclusion. Subjects like divination, conjuring and summoning, and arithmancy, transfiguration interested her and she put all her effort and reading into them. Which gave her interesting NEWT scores with her excelling at subject that interested her getting Outstandings, and in the rest of her subjects getting Acceptable OWLs and not wasting her time with them beyond that point. One notable exception was Astronomy which she maintained an interest and good grades in purely to use as an excuse to escape to the rooftops with a steady stream of romantic interests.
After she graduated Hogwarts she didn't suddenly changed into a responsible adult - she only managed to get responsibilities as she got older. The only responsibility that she managed to not lose interest in were her children - mostly as they were easily moveable when she drifted to new interests otherwise.
She still enjoys the random romantic interest - it is just not advertised. After all, her father forced her to marry a distant cousin who had a few embarrassments of his own that a marriage would help hide. The tipping point for her was the first time she got pregnant with her first child and a father was needed - or more accurately an acceptable father was needed. Thankfully her husband seemed to find the arrangement of pretending whatever children she had were his, they weren't, and she enjoyed the freedom of not being tied down. Thankfully her type for romantic interests are close enough she can pass off differences as recessive Razi genes. Naturally part of her has always wondered about her husband, and why he accepted such an arrangement. However for the most part he was rather boring to her, and she never had the attention span for things that do not interest her.
She still enjoys tea parties - they are now just more sophisticated. Her table is always delicately set with the finest of unmatching china tea cups. As often in her tea parties the subject moves to divining things and whenever a cup foretold of something bad she insisted her house elves destroy the cup. After all, it is just not safe to drink or use a cup that is tainted by negative energy. As she is a firm believer that touching something with negative energy could have that negative energy impact her in the future.
She still enjoys researching and reading about the things that interest her - except now she does more than read about them she actively tries to discover them. Instead of getting a job after Hogwarts she traveled the world and actively researched her interests. If it weren't for her children she'd still be exploring the word and researching the finer points of magical interactions, and divination theory.SAMPLE ROLEPLAY(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)
It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.
In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.
A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.
Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.
She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late
was what her face said.Roleplay Response:
Part of her was nervous about the interview. It was her first real one as prior she never had a real job she didn't just fall into. As most of her jobs came from her going somewhere to research something and in the course of her research being nudged into doing a job. Part of her suspected someone in her family occasionally nudged things so they would fall into place that way. More recently she was certain her husband did.
Walking thru the halls of Hogwarts she got distracted. There were a lot of memories and she could only wonder at all the people who had walked these halls. Something she had never really thought about when she was a student. As now she had the experience to know that if she touched one of the stones everyone who touched it could impact her thru it and her thru them. Naturally she knew the impact would be slight and more on her as distance and time decreased the impact that two objects had on each other once they ceased to be in contact with one another.
Not touching one of the stones she continued on thru the hallways making her way to the headmistresses office. Then she hesitated at the door not wanting to touch it. As she realized most who gone thru it were probably of the negative sort. So taking out a handkerchief she knocked then walked in."You are late."
Looking at the headmistress she said " I guess the interview will be shorter then. " It wasn't much of a concern of hers. As she figured the longer the interview was the more likely things could drift to boring topics that didn't interest her. To be honest even if she was nervous about it she wasn't at all interested in the interview itself.
