Messages - Yvonne Dechavez

Pages: [1]

A Brief History
After centuries of marrying each other's cousins to 'keep the family fortune within the family,' the Dechavez's are now a diminishing bloodline, even after (finally) in the 1800s, when a few of them moved from France to Europe to America to expand the bloodline - the family name is slowly disappearing.

A very passionate and tradionalist French/English purist family, the Dechavez's always follow their hearts and are used to getting everything they want. Almost all of them are well-known homophobes, who tend to, ahem, not like the presence of those of a different sexual orientation from the norm.

A Brief History
Once famous (especially during the Renaissance era) as a (Muggle, shh) family of performers, the Gerards got introduced to the world of magic when one curious Dechavez who'd migrated to Mexico took a fancy to one of the family actors and lo! the very first Halfblood Gerard was born. They keep the long-long-time-ago Muggle ancestry a Family Deep Dark Secret.

Suggestions & Questions / Pets?

So, I was wondering if dogs are allowed as pets, instead of the usual cats, rats, toads, and owls? To be specific, a shih tzu puppy. Would that be allowed, or do I have to ask an administrator?

Application for Beauxbatons Academy

Name: Yvonne Faye Dechavez

Birthday: May 20, 1959

Hometown: Born in Paris. Grew up in Boston.

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): Fifth (preferred) or Sixth

Her parents, Erik Dechavez and Cristine Dechavez née Lhuiller, were French (but her mother's half-American and half-Mexican as well), so it was only natural that she spoke fluent French. Right? Wrong.

Even though the whole of her father's lineage was French, and most from her mother's side too, Yvonne grew up in Boston, so unlike her older twin brother, Yani, she never bothered to learn how to speak French, since she didn't see any use of it as she was living in an English-speaking country.

So, whenever her father had one of his really-really-angry-tirades, like now, she never understood a single word he said.

"Planche à roulettes!" he spat, his face as red as beet. "Sécher les cours! Jouer Quodpot! De tels exploits ne doivent pas être commis par une femme!"

"Uh, Dad," she interjected, hoping to calm her father enough to make him switch to English. "Would you mind repeating that? In English?" Then added as an afterthought, "Please?"

He scoffed. "Of course you wouldn't understand what I'm saying!" he said, his thick French accent coming back in his rage. "You never bothered to learn more than a few basic words of your homeland's language!"

"Mostly because I grew up in America," she pointed out with a roll of her eyes.

"And disrespectful, too!" he added to his list.

"Dad," she said as gently as she could, eyes locking onto her father's steel-gray gaze. "Whatever it is you're angry about, I'm sorry, okay?" She ducked her head, pursing her lips, attempting to look guilty and repentant. Hopefully, it would work, she thought, raising her eyes to look at her father through her curtain of dark blonde hair.

Apparently, it didn't. "'Sorry,'" he spat the word out like a bad taste in his mouth, "will change nothing, Yvonne!" he snapped, still glaring at her. "What's done is done!"

Raising her head in frustration, she returned his glare, crossing her arms in front of her chest to emphasize her irritation and near-anger. "Well, what have I done this time that can't be solved by a... sincere apology?"

"That wasn't sincere, and you know it," he reprimanded, staring her down. He took a few seconds to calm himself, just staring at her as she defiantly stared back at him, before saying, "Every female Dechavez held -- and holds -- true the image of a proper lady." His gaze seemed to intensify then, as he all but growled, "You are shaming your name by... by..." He paused again, searching for the right words.

She raised an eyebrow at him. "Having fun?" she suggested.

"Fooling around," he corrected, giving her a displeased look.

She sighed, rolling her eyes again. "Dad--"

Without preamble, he declared, now that he'd calmed down a bit more, in his adopted American accent, "You will transfer to Beauxbatons next term."

Yvonne gaped at him. Then her face reddened as she scowled in irritation. "But Dad!" she protested, and started to wave her arms around in vague gesticulations. "Transfer again? Can't I just finish the three years I have left at Salem?"

"You can finish your education at Beauxbatons," he interjected with an impassive stare.

"Aw, come on, Dad!" This earned her another glare from her father, which she ignored and continued on with her rant, "This is going to be the third time I'll transfer! First as second year in Hogwarts because I missed my first year 'cause I was a late bloomer! Also, you transferred Yani there too, from Durmstrang, and he wasn't very happy about that, by the way!" An expression of guilt briefly passed her father's face before it disappeared. This was enough encouragement for Yve.

"Second, as third year in Salem for what you called as 'misbehavior' -- but really, Dad, cutting my hair really, really short and playing Quidditch shouldn't be considered as 'misbehavior'!"

"Well, it is to me, Yvonne," her Dad interjected with a displeased scowl. "And as long as I am your father and you live under my roof, I have authority over you, so you will do as I say and will submit to whatever I deem is right and just."

Yvonne scoffed. "Great. Which school will you make me transfer to next?"

"Nowhere." Then he sighed. "I should have sent you to Beauxbatons first -- there you may not have adopted those rude, boyish traits. But your mother insisted on Hogwarts and Salem."

"Speaking of Mom," she suddenly said, thinking that it may be her last hope, "why don't we let her have a say in this?"

"She already has," he informed her coolly. "She agrees with me." Yvonne gaped at him again. "Yani will transfer with you to make sure that you won't do anything to make me transfer you again." She opened her mouth to protest, but he fixed her with a stony glare and said in a firm tone, "My decision -- our decision -- is final."

Ecole Request: Performance > Dance

Painting is just a hobby. Dancing is her mistress wife/husband love life fulcrum, because it balances out the whirlwind she calls her life. Without dancing, she may be a torn and tattered soul by now. Without her twin, she may already be dust.

Her twin has always been her lifeline, her shoulder to cry on, her ear to rant to, her secret-keeper, her rock. If it hadn't been for him and his encouragement, she may not have become the lively being she is now.

Yvonne is spirited, hyper, rude, flirty, overconfident in such a way that she thinks she is better than anyone else (mostly Muggles, Muggleborns, and Halfbloods) but holds high respect for any talented Pureblood, a bit of a daredevil, very athletic, boyish, defiant, spoiled (gets angry when things don't go her way), dedicated to anything and everything (including people) she loves, and always knows what she wants and is determined to get it. But she is also just an insecure girl who wants nothing but to make her parents -- especially her father -- proud, but has lost the knowledge of how to do just that.

If she had been sent to Beauxbatons first, she may have been a very proper, very soft-spoken, very dainty lady. But she was sent to Hogwarts, then Salem, first, where she was easily influenced by her boy friends.

Likes girls (her father does not know this, since he is a homophobe, and her brother is very surreptitiously trying to make her like boys instead), but only because boys acted too much like her brother or herself for her to develop a romantic interest in them. But will eventually like a boy boys the opposite gender. She just needs to find the right guy...

She has long dark blonde hair, which she cut really short so she'd look like a boy in the middle of her first year at Hogwarts. Gray eyes. Stands at 5 feet and 7 1/2 inches. Looks almost nothing like her brother, who has slightly long chestnut-brown hair and more angular features; their only similarity is their last name, their parents, their heritage, their birth date, and their eyes. Most people can't even tell that they're twins, or even related.

Yvonne hated it here.

At least, that's what she wants, but the country was making it very hard for her. As it was, the food they served wasn't always snails and frog legs, as she had initially believed. Currently on the menu -- and on her plate -- was pork chop and some vegetables.

The girls were really pretty here too.

Yes, France was really making this I-hate-this-country thing hard for her.

As she was contemplating the pork chop, wishing -- willing -- it to be a pair of cooked frog's legs so she'd have something to complain about, she suddenly felt something meaty hit her face. Blinking, she looked down at the object that had then fallen on her table.

It was a piece of pork chop. What on earth...?

"Oh! I'm so sorry!"

Ah. An accident that stained my new shirt,
she noted upon glancing down at her apparel. Unforgivable, she thought, as she glanced up at the person -- whoever it was -- with a deceptively calm expression... which turned to shock and admiration when she saw her. Wow. She's pretty.

Immediately, she put on her most charming smile with a glint of deviousness in her eyes and purred, "That's alright, love. No worries." Then, she stood and said as politely as she could, "I could get you another tray of it, if you'd like?" Girls loved gentlemen, right? Or in this case, gentlewomen.
