"You may call me Al if you wish, it. Yes, bad pun I know. I blame my brother for that one."

At fifty two years of age Aloysius Carlisle had accomplished many things in his life.
The second son, out of nine children, he was not the smartest or the bravest but he was certainly the most suitable to lead the family in the end.
He had been born privileged, but his father made sure he understood the worth of a galleon. Each summer since the age of ten, he worked in one of the family’s businesses. From restocking the shelves, to doing paperwork in the offices, he knew what it was like to work for something and achieve results. It made him an excellent Hufflepuff when he had gone to Hogwarts, and an excellent student. He was dedicated, charming, and protective of his family. It was their well-being he looked after, and he made certain he was always there when he was needed.
Arranged to marry Schima Oliveroot at the age of 16, he made the best of the situation. It was not fair. He knew that. Life generally was not fair, but it was his father's request and it was good for the family.
"I know I am not your first choice. But, I hope to make it that way one day."

In the end it was good for him also. She had been a child when the marriage had been arranged, but he became her friend. Later on, that friendship became respect and then love. By the time they were married, he would admit that he could not imagine loving anyone more than her. That was one of the most memorable days of his life, and they just kept on coming. The birth of his oldest child was the next memory he would never forget. A fat bundle in his arms, Earnest, was the first time he felt like he would die before letting anything harm him. Shortly after that Quincy was born, then Byron, Arthur, and Hayden. When their sixth child had been on the way, he had started to joke that he was planning to create his own family Quidditch team, something that Schima did not appreciate but she let it pass as he rubbed the bump of her stomach that would be Hailee, their precious little girl.
With Happiness though came tragedies.
Aloysius Carlisle remembered the good days, but he also remembered the bad days.
The first had been the news that his older brother was dead. He died in the War. A war that, they thought would never happen again but did.

“De mortuis nil nisi bonum.”

It was a Carlisle tradition that each year on Jason's birthday the siblings all got together and took a shot of firewhiskey in his honor, along with lighting a cigar just for him. Jason had been two years older than Aloysius, and he had taken the right as the oldest to challenge their father, as often as he wanted. He did a lot of things that Michael Carlisle did not like. Jason certainly was the sort that liked to do daring, things and to challenge what was considered proper. It was not becoming of the future Head of the Carlisle Family, which their father pointed out rather loudly. Their stubbornness, and their loudness was perhaps the only thing that the two had in common. Their last argument had been about how he had volunteered to join the military, when the war raged and men were dying on both sides. Michael Flynn’s last word to his son was that he hoped he died over there. Words said of anger, that he had never meant. He had been too stubborn to say anything else though.

When the news came that Jason was dead...

That was the first time his father had been quiet. The first time he saw his father cry. He would remember that day no matter what. It was a day he promised that, when he had his own children he would tell them how much he loved them, every time he could, and everyday. He would praise their accomplishments, and protect them. This was also the day, that he wished he never had to go through his father’s pain.
Aloysius kept his promises, that was one of his virtues.

But wishes, don’t always come true.
“Don’t you dare lie to me! My son is out there! FIND HIM!”

The Cruciatus Curse, is supposed to give its victim the most excruciating pain imaginable. It had to be done by someone, that wishes to cause such malice to another person, and the darker the soul... the more pain that is wrought.

When his brother said that his son was dead...

That pain was worse than the Cruciatus Curse. His whole body was in agony as in that moment he did not know what to do. His son had gone missing, only days before. Hayden had just wandered off when the family was on an outing. With six children, it was hard to keep watch even with two eyes on them but... But his son could not be dead. It was not possible, he did not want it to be true. He had not slept since his son had gone missing. Walking around like a wildman, with his hair unkempt and eyes bloodshot. He kept on telling his wife that their son would be found, that little Hayden would be okay, but he could not hide the worry upon his face.

When his brother, an Auror, had called in some favors to start a search party he had been quite certain that his child would be found.

The only thing the search party found was a soaked scrap of clothing, with some blood on a rock. Benjamin, speculated that he had been wandering off like toddlers do, and he slipped. bashing his head and fell into the river.

Aloysius had not believed it.

He would not believe it.

He had screamed, and yelled, and said the most horrible things that day to his brother. The most horrible things that he still felt guilt over, and would until the end. That was the only time that Aloysius had raised his voice in such a way. Had reacted with such anger and fury, that he resembled his father.

A year passed.

And he finally apologized to his brother, but he would not admit that his son was dead. Even as the years passed, he had refused to go to the service that his wife had set up. Refused to listen to people that said that his son was dead. The subject of Hayden, was taboo in the Carlisle Mansion, but whenever he was mentioned Aloysius just became really quiet. Gave a sad smile and nodded his head.

His son was lost, but he was not dead.

Life would move on, but Aloysius Carlisle always kept one light on for his son to find in the dark.

“Family comes first.”

When his father was on his deathbed, at 70 years of age, Michael Flynn Carlisle made his son Aloysius promise one thing: To fix his sister’s mistake.

The sister that his father meant, was Melissa. Willful, and cunning she had eloped with a halfblood by the name of Kenneth Sincade, sixteen years ago. She had a son with him also, which is what the mistake was. A marriage could be annulled, but a child... A child was something else. Yet, ten years ago he had done what his father had asked and he had talked to Kenneth Sincade, and had convinced him the right choice was to leave his family, because it was the less violent of choices. Bribery was one way to make things happened, but Aloysius had explained that Michael Flynn was willing to do much more than that to make Kenneth leave.

Kenneth was not family.

When Aloysius had met his sister, and the child for the first time, he had felt some guilt. He had just broken up their family. It was an unpleasant situation, but he would admit he rather liked the boy. Even at a young age, he was a polite and sincere boy.

Aloysius, wanted Thomas to be part of the family.

Galleons could only fix so much, before people began to question and wonder. He had to make sure that Thomas was seen in Society as what he was. A polite, smart, and sincere, pureblooded wizard. It was the only way he would survive in this world, only way he would not be ostracized for having lied to people for so long.

He would fix it so that Thomas could be a Carlisle, along with have a future as such.

Aloysius planned on keeping his promise to his father.

Aloysius always kept his promises.

“It was a pleasure meeting you.”

Mr. Grunch smirked as stepped into the shadows beneath the overhanging eaves at the side of the street. There was a sort of alcove here, where two buildings came together, and the wall was set back just a couple of feet to make space for a drain from the battered lead guttering. It made it difficult to see if anyone was standing there until you were almost on top of it, and the shape of the roof up above cast an almost permanent shadow even then.

There were a number of such places along Knockturn Alley and Mr. Grunch knew them all.

Seeing nobody was nearby, he quickly cast the concealment spell that would obscure his features, making him unrecognisable, just a blur beneath the cowl of his thick, but worn, robes. He knew his target, had identified them some time before, as they entered the Alley. He had shadowed them, discretely, and now, he knew, they were heading back out again, towards the safety of the better lit Diagon Alley.

He heard the footsteps approaching. This was it, then. Just before they reached the alcove, he stepped out suddenly in front of his target, wand raised and ready.

"Give me all yer galleons, and any jewellery yer got! Don't try to hide nothin', 'cos I'll know, right? Do it now!"

How was Aloysius supposed to respond to this situation?

He could figure how some of his siblings would respond. He imagined it right now as this man stood in front of him, weapon drawn and ready to strike. Frank would ask questions. Many questions, and ponder why this gentleman was doing such a thing. Of course, Aloysius could imagine that these questions would cause this man to be distracted. That was when Frank would strike, and then again ask plenty of more questions.

Benjamin would simply laugh, give a bad pun, and then throw out the first blow.

Melissa’s and Felicia’s response probably would be the most entertaining to watch. Aloysius felt himself smiling at the idea of Melissa scolding the man in front of her for even attempting to steal from a lady, along with Felicia’s shrieking and indignant cries at the thought of being robbed. He gave a chuckle, before clearing his throat and looking back at his assailant, “Forgive me... Just thought of something funny. Give me a moment.”

It was time for him to act it seemed. He doubted this man would have much patience to allow him to laugh at the pictures in his head. His siblings were not here, so it was up to him to do what needed to be done. He either gave up his valuables, as the man said, or he fought back. “Let’s see here... you said all my valuables right?”

He began to search through his pockets, taking out a gold pocket watch which he glanced at before pulling on the chain and setting it down on the ground. Again, he went searching through his pockets, picking out a small pouch filled with perhaps a two galleons total. Not a lot of money, but he had not planned on spending today. Just had gone out to check up on shipments, and also have a drink with a friend. He still was not the sort to spend on himself. He placed these on the floor in front of him, slowly as to not give the man alarm.

He could easily defend himself. He was the head of the family, he had to be able to defend himself from those wanting to harm him or his family. Yet, there was no point he should be fighting over something a silly as some small valuables. A watch, and some galleons, these things could be replaced.

He gave another pat down of himself, trying to figure what else could be considered valuable, before his eyes came upon the gold band around his finger. Smiling at it, he looked back up at the mugger. Giving a nod of his head before opening his arms out, “That is all I am willing to give you. If you insist on more, than I will have to insist that you don’t.” He gave a congenial smile to him as he watched the man waiting for him to dismiss or accept his proposal. “I do not wish for anyone to get hurt.”

Politics on Blood Purity: The head of the family Aloysius Carlisle does not openly express his opinions on such matters. What he cares about is his family and the well being of it. The head of the Branch Family in Europe (Clause Carlisle) has expressed some disdain for muggleborns, and halfbloods, and believes that they should be watched carefully because they are more likely to attract attention to themselves. The American Branch of the family is quite new, and is quite happy being distant from usual European complaints.

Just PM me if you're interested in claiming one of the Carlisles. The faceclaims are suggestions, you do not have to choose it if you don't want to, as are the ages. Although I'd generally like to keep them in the same area. Those that have asterisks(*) by their names, I have some notes on them that I'd like you to know about and also perhaps some ideas on family plot things. If you want to link your Pureblood family with the Carlisles, just PM me and we'll see what we can do.

I like adding to the family, and if you have an idea for a plot to involve the Carlisle Family, and your own Pureblood Family I would love that.

Those in parenthesis are set, either because someone is playing, or it's
been mentioned in canon how old they are.
PM me, and we'll see. Some of them are set because they have been
mentioned. Mostly Aloysius's kids are set names, along with his siblings
I'm pretty flexible on where some of the kids go to school. I'd like it if
most of the Main Family went to Hogwarts, but again pretty flexible.
