*talked to Viola about pulling out Gardenia Reine so Valencia can have some room, just in case!

In the beginning, it started with her. Born on the day of September’s demise (or to put it simply, September 30th), Valencia Bienvenida was brought into the home of Juan and Margaret Alvear as her elder siblings Andrés, Arcelia, and Sebastián stood years before her arrival. She was a celebrated birth, as were all the children in her generation, but as the youngest child, the girl was nothing new.

(But that was simply what she was told to believe.)

With three other offspring to look up to, one would expect her to follow in their footsteps. “Be as erudite as Andrés, be as independant as Arcelia, be as righteous as Sebastián.” But why be so moral, so virtuous, when one could have the blood of Bellona, the legacy of Mars, in their veins?

Consequences, consequences: Valencia’s presence arose to become synonymous with “trouble” not long after turning the age of four. Trouble was the direct path to attention, was it not? Her excuse was that there was no other decent choice but to follow its paved road.

In the middle, it started with her cousins; five of them, to be exact. They, Azrael, Michael, Ambriel, Cassiel, and Ra’asiel were prominent figures in Valencia’s childhood, more so than her own biological siblings. Perhaps it was her parents’ fault for being so entitled to their work that she became distant towards them and closer to the elder Albear brothers, but it has been far too long for such a “mistake” to be fixed.

She found herself under Azrael’s care more often than not, which little Valencia wasn’t entirely averse to. He was an odd choice of a babysitter, the first son of Albear, the heir to its riches, with his dutiful mentality and death-ridden mind. And yet, she had grown to become fond of him, for what they shared in blood was meaningless compared to the numerous tea parties and dress-up days. To young Valencia, he was her last breath.

(Three years ago, a girlish giggle and the humorless reply, “Valencia... that is not the proper application of stickers.” Sometimes, miraculously, she could find this man to be the amusing sort, and she had been taught to keep him in her graces.)

But there was dear Michael as well, bless his raging soul. The second son of Albear, a soldier who had once served her country, scarred and all. He was a broken man with pride, as she had once observed while watching him stand near his older brother, with eyes that had seen many things. But he had her, and his snakes, and Valencia believed him to be at peace when his mind wasn’t littered with fury. To naive Valencia, he was her last heartbeat.

(Three years ago, the irritable question, “Who is it?” and the well-meaning prompt, “Find out yourself.” He had gifted her a snake that day, and she had learned to keep him in her heart.)

Ambriel and Cassiel: the fraternal twins, mere middle children. She did not know them as well as the elder two, if at all, but they were, to her, interesting personalities to remember. Ambriel was not as fun-loving as his younger brother, the cautious and calculating son with a charming mask. Cassiel, on the other hand… Insane, impulsive, and yet still holding the same disguise as the former—Valencia never knew this would apply both figuratively and literally. Oddly enough, she could only recall them with food in mind. The only thing she could compare them to was holy communion.

(Ice cream shops and tomato sandwiches were apparently equal to bread and wine. Perhaps they could spend more time together another day.)

Ra’asiel Albear was the last. He was the final son, the end to continue his father’s legacy. He was quiet, reserved, holding a piece of Emma Albear in him. And yet… and yet…

(A studious boy with an inventive mind. She did not know that, until the winter of 1945, such intelligent, privileged people could be tainted so easily with the views of sentient dirt.)

In the end, it started with numerous doomsdays Valencia wished to forget.

Azrael was first, the one she adored. Leaving her in the dust, perhaps towards the afterlife. There was simply no other reason that he would abandon her so easily… yes?

But death gods did not die.

Michael was second, the one she admired. She did not know where he went—she was never told anything anymore these days. And yet, there were times where Valencia could see glimpses of the former soldier, with forlorn features and world-weary eyes.

But war gods did not wither.

Ambriel and Cassiel were third and fourth respectively. A lawyer and an Auror, as she was told before duties got a hold on them and the invasion made them busier than before. On her last visit, Valencia had not seen them.

But neither twin would ever falter.

Ra’asiel was the fifth. His end was too soon, too quick, too unwanted. She had wanted to know him more.

But creatures such as him could prosper without chains.

So she was left with her immediate family again. It should not have been an antagonizing thing as it became, but they, father, mother, sister, brothers, were estranged.

Valencia kept herself alone.

TL;DR - okay so basically azrael left valencia to die alone and then michael got distant and then cassiel and ambriel got into their work and stuff and ra’as got disowned so val’s like:¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but is secretly like: (;______;)

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: It’s all up to the hat this year. <3

Personality: Spoiled, bratty, dictatorial: everything they never wanted her to be. Valencia’s a capricious girl that barely tries to adhere to any given rules unless the consequences that come with not following are too grand. She’s one to expect things to come to her immediately, being raised in a rich and pure bloodline. Although brash and impulsive, it’d be good to note that there is a faint air of intelligence that follows her as well—wouldn’t want anyone to forget, would we?

Valencia’s a people-pleaser, as evident by the ways she follows her cousins around like some sort of young duckling, but only to the ones she finds having worthy blood (or interesting personality). And yet, she still considers herself as an independent young lady, showing her nature of arrogance and narcissism. She’s also a lover of words (or as she once found in a dictionary, a “logophile”), numbers, snakes, cousins, and tiaras, and it’s obvious that she has been influenced by her cousins more than anyone else.

Appearance: Short, thin-statured, preens herself to look pretty. Typical Alvear features: dark hair, slightly-tanned skin, light eyes (or if Valencia were the one describing her visage, it’d be “straight, bronze hair, olive skin, emerald green eyes”). She seems to get most of her looks from her father—luckily.

Reply to Option 1:

The hollow echoes of the dungeon floors felt bizarrely calming. Perhaps that was just her alone.

It was Valencia’s individual idea that led her here, or maybe just the sudden lack of supervision from Azrael. But either way, she was there, gracing the area with her wondrous presence as Valencia Bienvenida should have been all along. After all, it was only expected of her.

(Expected by whom? one may ask. Herself, mostly, but she did not need to be told such embarrassing stories about her attitude once again.)

Her walk was brisk, with fast paces and heavy clicks of her heels. There was no place in particular that she was headed towards, but her hurried strides betrayed such thoughts. She had been thinking, thinking, thinking… of what? Heavy senses rose to attention, scrutinizing the gray stones and dull smell, how similar it was to the lower levels of Alvear Manor. She didn’t want to admit possible homesickness—it’d be ridiculously pathetic to say aloud inside the secluded walls of her mind.

To Valencia, the voice had been hardly heard. No one could detect such a meek greeting.

She kept walking, deeper and deeper into the murky corridors where, perchance, Azrael and Michael had frequented once upon a happy time. A small tune escaped her lips, meaningless to anyone but herself; simply, it was improvised to act as her distraction from her wandering legs that seemed to venture into darker, darker places. What could an eleven-year-old hope to gather from here?

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

Footsteps halted at the sound of this mousy newcomer (or oldcomer—how long had she been wandering down here?). It was another girl, her year. Evangeline, was it?

But the unforeseen utterance was completely uncalled for, and of course, Valencia could not let the fact that it led to that cringeworthy squeak coming from her vocal chords slide.

“Someone such as Emma Birch would never let acquaint herself with someone with the likes of you.” It was an arrogant sneer, as was everything else that came from an ever-so-vengeful Valencia Alvear. “A dead Emma Birch.”

“Didn’t you know that only so few choose to come back as ghosts?”

That she knew.

Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Overconfident, selfish, and egotistical: The three sins that made Valencia B. Alvear feel on top of the world.

She was a rather spoiled child growing up, eager to have the full attention of... well, anybody. A true drama queen since a young age, the girl adored having power in her hands, frequently bossing her siblings and cousins around as if they were her servants. It was exceedingly rare when they complied, but those were the times when Valencia was happiest.

A smirk in place and a brooding expression was a warning when trouble was to be abound. She detested being tricked or teased, something that she didn't take so simply. Lost homework was what her older siblings received, ripped-up drafts from her mother's fictional works were scattered around every now and then, and sometimes you could hear screams from outside their home when the victims find their valued items out of place. Sworn enemies should keep a look out for the little she-devil.

Her grandfather and Uncle Percival were more admired than anyone else in her family ever will be from Valencia Bienvenida. The true competence held firmly in their grasp was what Valencia craved most in her coddled childhood, and she just wanted to reach out to it. What she forcefully put in her petite fingers couldn't be compared to such ability. The Alvear dream shouldn't be too far away.

Manipulative, sly, and shrewd: The three sins that made Valencia B. Alvear feel like the queen of the universe.

Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
Valencia couldn't recall the reason she was sent to Godric Park. Much less why she was even here.

The scenery was alright, although with every grudging stomp with her thin legs, the sun just seemed to dim with every clip-clop of her new Mary Janes. She could hear her older sister trudging behind her, but dared to ignore it. Just above her head though were a trio of broomsticks racing through the sky. The faint "Get the snitch! Get the snitch!" was far from peaceful, and Valencia whipped around on her heel. "Shut up!" the girl yelled, as if it were the end of the world. She hated this. She absolutely hated this.

A small frown appeared on her lips as her eyes turned to a small, little girl with a sassy, little, voice. "What do you want, munchkin?"

"Do you wanna play?"

Her frown turned deeper just listening to the suggestion. Valencia crossed her arms, showing great disapproval. "Tch, and why would I do that?" she sneered, rolling her eyes and turning to walk away.
