Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Arlo Jamison

Birthday: 17th December 1946

Hometown: Portsmouth, England

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength: Charms

Magical Weakness: Divination

Year: First (preferred), Second

Biography:
In terms of a start to life, Arlo could not have asked for anything better. Loving parents, a stable home and always food upon the table. Arlo is eldest of three children born to James and Violet Jamison, entering into the world a little more than a year after the pair had graduated from Hogwarts School. Thankfully, the new parents were able to rely on their own families for help and support whilst they found their feet outside the stone walls of the castle. After close to four years, and with James in a lucrative and stable career, the tree sprouted another branch. With a third following in quick succession. Before long, the Jamison household was a place constantly abuzz with noise. Laughter and excitement would never go unheard for more than an hour. It was a happy household, and that was very much how it stayed through Arlo's early years as he grew and developed into his own person. After a fairly uneventful start to life, Arlo is hoping that his impending move to Hogwarts will open his eyes to more wonder and adventure than he had ever experienced before.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Wherever the hat chooses!

Personality:

Boisterous :- Arlo has always been a very vibrant spirit, a loud and boisterous young lad with a lot of love to give. The issue is that he can often be a little too much to handle for those that aren't used to the excitement that seems to follow his every footstep.

Nurturing :- Possibly the side effect of having a few younger siblings, but he has always possessed a very caring nature for all those he is close to. Endeavouring to put a smile on every face, he can't help but constantly look out  for his friends and help them in any way he can.

Muddled :- Arlo is often confused. Whether it's because of something he is doing, or the way someone has spoken to him, the young lad often has trouble fully comprehending a situation; much to his mother's worry. Not that it bother him all that much, he'll muddle through anything even if he doesn't fully understand what or why.

Appearance:
Arlo stands fairly tall for his age, although it is possible that his hair only gives off that impression with its untamable nature; almost constantly sticking up giving him that extra few inches. His face remains fairly uninspiring. A neat jawline and prominent lips sit below a pair of deep brown eyes, his thick dark eyebrows excellently framing the young boys face. Since Arlo is rarely seen without a smile on his face, the pronounced dimples on his cheeks will be a familiar characteristic to all those he comes across.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

He was lost. Not that such a revelation would come as a big surprise to anyone. An inner compass was not a trait young Arlo had ever possessed. Even his mother had used to joke that he'd be one to get lost in the family home! It had only happended once! Still, Hogwarts castle was a big place with lots of corridors and passages leading to all manner of different rooms, albeit none had led to the one place he had actually been trying to get to. The kitchens! Hallowed turf if ever there was such a thing. The evenings meal hadn't quite hit the spot in Arlo's stomach. Delicious, as always, but he had grown hungrier as the evening wore on. And that was how he came to find himself wandering down a rather dank and dark passageway with only his grumbling stomach for company. He was sure he had followed the directions of a trustworthy housemate to the letter, but there had been no sign of the famous fruit bowl that concealed all manner of goodies. Was it his own ineptitude? Or maybe said housemate wasn't trustworthy at all!

His footsteps padded loudly on the stone floor as Arlo's quest continued. His mind was solely focused on what he hoped to sink his teeth into once he actually found his destination, oblivious to the rising sound of a second pair of feet approaching his very position. If it had been a touch lighter in the darkened corridor, maybe his surprised squeal might not have been so shrill.

"H-h-hello?"

Losing his balance, Arlo managed to catch himself before actually tumbling to the stone floor. Heart racing from the sudden shot of adrenaline, Arlo tried to compose himself still unable to see the source of the voice in the dark.

”Hello! Is Emma Birch here?”

”Who the heck is Emma Birch!” Arlo responded, his tone somewhat indignant. ”Made me jump out me skin you did, wanderin' round in the dark scarin' people.” He shook his head disapprovingly, even if his displeasure at the girl in front of him was quickly evaporating. Maybe she was as lost as he was. Maybe she was also looking for the kitchens! No wait, Emma Birch... Who was she again? The name seemed to ring a bell somewhere in the back of Arlo's mind but he couldn't quite source why. ”Lost your mate have ya?” He asked, wondering if actually, they could be of benefit to each other in their current predicaments. ”Tell ya what, I'll help ya find ya mate if you promise to help me find the kitchens later. I was told they were around here somewhere, but maybe you know better than me.”
