Biography:

December 24th, 1942
Zinaida slipped in through the large, wooden door of the small church. It was the first time she had been off of the family estate since the war started, since they had left Russia. She had spent nearly half her life in England, separated from her homeland. Her parents brought in tutors, unemployed widows of minor pureblood families, to teach her English, which she spoke with little accent. She sometimes longed for her homeland, which was a hazy memory reinforced by stories told to her by others. She didn’t mind the cold outside, wrapped in her fur cloak, but the cold wasn’t the reason she was here.

Inside the church, she could hear singing. She walked in, to see the church half full. It was dark inside, barely a few candles lit, but she could still see well enough to see what filled the pews.

Muggles. She had never seen so many of them in her life. Her family was pure to the core, and would hardly associate with Halfbloods, let alone those that couldn’t do magic. She could see why: their clothes were mostly old and tattered, their faces worn, and hair unkept. Dirty, unclean, all of them. Even for Christmas Eve Mass.

Her family had always done their own services, at their own private chapels. Zinaida had never seen how Muggles worshiped She never even considered asking her father for permission to go, permission he would never give, so she went herself to see.

It was clear why they held services together. Not only did they look like they were in disarray, the speaking from the Father was a mess. While she was not from England, she still had a natural grasp for the language, but what the muggle was saying sounded nothing like English at all. Sitting in the back, it was all she could do to hear what he was saying, and most of what she could understand did not make much sense in the slightest.

They sung a few songs as well, most of which Zinaida did not recognize. Then, at the Father’s command, everyone seemed to start shaking each other’s hand. An old woman came at her, and offered Zinaida her hand. She gave an icy look back up, before the old woman looked at her, and down at her fine clothes, before she moved away with a frown. Zinaida wasn’t going to touch one of them, not when they looked like this.

As the muggles lined up to partake in communion, a word she was able to recognize, Zinaida had had enough. She slipped out of the back of the church as the choirs sang, and back into the cold. At least she had seen it, and she would never have to see it again. Still, it would be a long walk back to the manor.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Slytherin

Personality: Growing up in the Borovsky household, Zinaida has gained many of those traits. A pureblood elitist, demanding, and a  strong Catholic faith. Being the youngest in the family, in a family raised by nannies no less, she was often used to getting what she wanted, and will often take actions without worrying about getting permission first.

Appearance: Small and slender, with dark brown hair and green-brown eyes. Wears fine clothes while not forced into robes, and lets her straight hair run past her shoulders with no constraints.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.
Her footsteps echoed quietly on the hallway floors as Zinaida made her way in between classes. Technically, she should not be in these halls, Durmstrang was where her family was educated, and it was where she should be as well. Instead, due to the war, she was here, mixing with muggleborns and halfbloods because of the war.

Her pensive thoughts were frozen as she heard calling from across the hall. Zinaida glanced to either side, but she was by herself, save for the owner of the singsong voice. Beating a hasty retreat would be undignified, unbecoming, so she stood in place, only turning to face the reporter just as she heard that the girl was nearly there.

She was most definitely a reporter as well, holding a quill and parchment in her hands, and not just saying it was ‘for the paper’ as a ruse to get her attention. Not that she cared much for Spellbound in the first place, it was barely readable to begin with. The question from the girl explained why. Frogs legs.

“Frogs legs are an acquired delicacy.” Zinaida said after a few moments of letting the girl wait. It said nothing about her opinion on the matter, so she continued. “But not one I have. There is a lot of food served at lunch, so why not eat something else?”
