Application for Hogwarts School

Name: Scarlet Summer Reyes

Birthday: 4/11/51 15

Hometown: Maidstone, Kent, England

Magical Strength (pick one):

Magical Weakness (pick one):

Year (pick two): 5, 4

Fourth of November, 1950

A girl was born, just as the day was reaching its end. The girl was born into a family that had seen only male births for nearly three decades. The girl would be surrounded by brothers, three older and three younger, plus countless male cousins. A family that had next to no use for a girl. The girl was born into a family that boasted of its strength and ability to continue their family line - and business. The girl was born just before the birth of a new day, but the promise of change a new day could bring was not something the girl would ever know.

Age 5, 1955

The girl was called Scarlet Summer Reyes.

The name was not quite so cute as strangers liked to think when meeting the sweet-looking child. Her lovely face and cheerful smile made many targets for the girl, who by the age of five, was a nearly perfect pick-pocket. From an early age it was determined she would be made useful to the family. Even if the family had no need of the little money or trinkets she could swindle from innocent people she was tasked with targeting. She would train to be a lady with her mother and various aunts and would serve a purpose for her father, as he required of all his children.

Age 7, 1958

After over a year of study with a tutor, the girl was found lacking once again when it became clear her talent in magic lie within Transfiguration and not Charms. All the males, and even a few born Reyes females, specialised in Charmwork of all varieties. Transfiguration was just another thing, in time, her father would find a way to exploit.

Age 11, 1962

The girl found a small sampling of freedom within Hogwarts. It was deadened slightly by the presence of two of her older brothers still being there. She knew anything she did would be reported back to their father. It didn’t bother her so much. By eleven, the girl had developed a mean streak that could contend with any of her brothers’ and she had a particularly strong rivalry with Sebastian, the brother closest to her in age. The girl was determined to prove to her father that she was more than an object to sell to someone when she turned seventeen. That often meant sparring with her brothers, in more than one way, in her father’s presence. The cruelness her brothers showed her translated into her own form of cruelty when she arrived at Hogwarts. That, paired with her cold attitude and disregard for most everyone, left the girl with no true friends and barely any acquaintances.

This was just as well. None of her peers could offer what she really desired. A throne. A throne of her own because everyone knew Queens were more powerful without a King.

And a Queen she would be.

House Request: Slytherin

Thrives in being underestimated; the type to do (or at least try to do) something because someone told her she couldn’t. Very manipulative. Vindictive and unforgiving, she has no problem cutting someone out of her life if they've upset her even the slightest amount. Honest and authentic, she wouldn't even know how to try to be someone else. Enjoys physical fitness but not necessarily organized team activities.

Most noticeable traits are her above average height for a female and the sweet smile she's capable of that shouldn't fool anyone who's known her longer than five minutes. It doesn't mean anything sweet is about to pass through her lips. Pale green eyes and dark blonde hair.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

The dungeons were a place she'd frequented often through her years at the school.

They were often the perfect place for her. Either because the dark and quiet she could usually find down here spoke to her soul, or because she'd let a rare show of anger get the better of her and she needed a place to cool down. The cold stone and damp air provided some relief.

Today Scarlet wasn't here for either of those reasons. Or maybe it was a combination of the two. She was still recovering from training with Sebastian and he always pushed her. Her head wasn't quite clear yet and she knew she needed to be somewhere quiet for a while and to cool down from the exertion.

What Scarlet didn't need was a little beast wandering around down here and bothering her. Sound echoed in the dungeons and if she wanted quiet (and to know if her brother was coming to find her), she needed to get rid of the noisy thing.

With a heavy sigh, Scarlet turned back for the main corridor through the dungeons and listened for the clip of shoes on stone. The kid needed a lesson or three on moving with stealth.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

And on not talking. Scarlet's green eyes rolled at how ridiculous the girl was being. By age ten, she could move through her huge house nearly silent.

Of course, most parents probably didn't require that of their children.

No problem. Scarlet could teach her.

Her feet made no noise as she moved up behind the young girl and whispered near her ear, "The only thing in these dungeons you should be worried about is me."

Hi Scarlet,

Your application looks good so far, there's just one thing we'll need you to edit before we get you accepted.

You state that Scarlet's birthday is 4 November 1951, but also note that she is 15 and going into her fifth year. We're about to go into the 1966-67 term, so if you want Scarlet to be 15/5th year, she would have been born in November 1950, not November 1951.

If you can either edit her birth year to 1950 or her age/requested year to 14/4th, then we can go ahead and get you accepted.

No need to repost the whole application, just respond to this to clarify whether you want to change her birth year (you'll need to edit this on her profile too) or her age/year. Thanks!
cherry lips, crystal skies
i could show you incredible things

stolen kisses, pretty lies
