Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Marcus' parents had always wanted to be one of the elite. Even back in Hogwarts, they'd go out of their way to try and get into the right circles and make the right friends, all in the hopes that one day this would all lead to that glamorous lifestyle that they so badly desired.

It never quite worked.

Instead, they clung to the fringes of the popular rich kids, never quite rich enough, never quite talented enough, and perhaps most importantly, never quite pureblooded enough to really be a part of it.

That's not to say that Mary and Stanley Helvar didn't do pretty well for themselves when they entered the real world. Just not well enough. Stanley found himself a desk job at the Ministry which brought in a steady flow of cash, and likewise Mary joined St Mungo's. The money was enough to score them a nice house in the suburbs of London, and enough for them to raise their only child Marcus comfortably, with some to spare. But it wasn't the glitz and glam of the pureblood life, and that was what they'd always wanted.

Growing up, Marcus was fully aware of this. They never stopped talking about it really, doubled up with condescending and pretentious comments about how they were so much better than those living around them, when really they weren't. It's no surprise that as Marcus grew older and began to question his parents, as growing children do, this elitism was first on the chopping block.

Mary and Stanley Helvar were the fakest of the fake and as Marcus turned a questioning eye to the rest of the world, he realised that everyone, everything, was just as much so. His parents idolised the rich, but upon entering Hogwarts and coming into contact with some of those very people, he found that they were no better than the rest, or if anything, worse.

He resolved not to bother with them. Other people were a lost cause, too wrapped up in petty things like money and popularity and looks to be of worth getting close to. They'd all end up stabbing each other in the back anyway.

And maybe he thought that because he'd had the good fortune of growing up without ever having to worry about how much something cost, or even how he looked, but what did it matter?
Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
The sun beat down upon Marcus' head, sending warmth trickling through his bones and spilling across his skin. It was a far cry from the never ending drizzle and grey clouds of London and he might've enjoyed it if it weren't for the fact that with the summer came flocks of people, swarming to Godric's Park to do whatever it was their petty little hearts felt like doing.

He did his best to ignore the shouts and the chatter of the other Park goers, head kept firmly bent over a book. Marcus would much rather have been somewhere quieter, away from all this hustle and bustle, but when days like this came around it meant visitng the rest of Mary and Stanley's admittedly quite small family, and so it meant Hogsmeade.

The Helvars were a thoroughly obnoxious bunch, even without Marcus's very high standards. Bourgeois beyond belief, alone they were irritating enough. Together they were a drill mercilessly boring its way into his head and so when he'd been dragged along for the visit, no excuses allowed, and one had suggested a walk in the park, he'd been quick to agree, hoping to escape.

"You!"

Marcus didn't move a muscle. If that shrill little girl's voice was directed at him, then so what? He didn't want to talk to her, kids were annoying.

"...Do you want to play?"

No. No he most certainly didn't. With a sigh, Marcus raised his head, meeting her gaze with a cocked brow.

"Do I look like I want to play?"
